Dont Play This Game!
In Second Life there are bad people just like everywhere else what makes it so bad is if you are victimized instead of helping you. They help your attacker by immediately closing your account you have no way to defend yourself. any plea falls on deaf ears and red tape. they send you.....
The evidence shows that you have severely or repeatedly violated the Second Life Terms of Service or Community Standards, and therefore your account and any alternate Second Life accounts are now permanently inaccessible....... ok like what was it was it severely or was it repeatedly???? like why cant they tell you what you did?????? OH i get it it was my fault i got jumped for sex and said NOOO.....so my attacker filed a complaint and instantly got my account closed and locked out before i could file a complaint.....This speed seems a little suspicious to me, i am thinking only a Second Life employee can have access to closing and blocking an account that fast.........so wait a minute......Was it a Second Life employee that sexually assaulted my child avatar then had my account closed? and now they refuse to tell me what i did wrong. i think they should change the name from Second Life to Sexofender Life
Sexual assault in Second Life.......this is a WARNING.
Hi. I have been playing second life and have some good friends in it. but there are LOTS of bad people in there to. My avatar is a girl in a boarding school (you can actually learn things) and you can be a brat to, like break in to a safe to get items. I started a fire in the kitchen and caught fire my self so i had to run out and jump in the pool. after that i had to try to explain to a rollplaying policewoman that it wasn't my fault....i was happy she seemed to roleplay believe it, but then asked me about the stolen car with the gun in it outside....so this was fun.........UNTIL i was looking to get adopted and when i was taken to the person's house where i was sexually assaulted. This is not only a violation but it is illegal for that person to sexually assault a minor. i took all the evidence i could including screenshots so i could go back to the SIM and report this and have evidence but before i could SL closed and ip banned my account for violations they have refused to tell me. And i never received any prior warning of any miss conduct or violations. So it is my opinion that after taking my money (being a paying client) they dont have the decency to warn about anything. All i have experienced is I got kicked off and ip banned for saying no and being sexually assaulted. What a way to protect your company. I bet that person is still there. Maybe that person works for the company? and that is why my account was closed so fast and they wont give me a straight answer for banning me. Like they say "dead men tell no tails" But guess what, I am going to be informing people about sexual assault and Second Lifes abusive action of clients for a long time. Dont play Second Life .....They took my money and closed my account.
An absolute pedos playground
An absolute pedos playground, how this game is allowed is beyond me.
Stay clear!!!!
Lots of cool stuff to do, building, exploring, etc..
My experience with Second Life has been positive. You don't have to spend a fortune on anything. My avatar is made up of entirely free items including mesh body and head, skin, hair, eyes, makeups, My own shape, etc. All my clothes are freebies and store gifts, and gifts from events, freebies from hunts, etc. You can pick up some really nice, good quality items for free. Also saying that Second Life only consists of sex and loneliness... well that really depends on how much you explore, as there are lots and lots of locations to explore that have absolutely nothing to do with sex! If you take time to look around, you can discover some really cool places. The location and events guides in the official website are really useful, especially if you are new, but even if you have been in SL for a long time, as new places and events are regularly added. Some events also support a lot of registered charitable organisations such as well known cancer charities, and organisations raising funds for victims of world disasters.
There is also lots of educational stuff in SL, especially space related, and probably a lot more I have yet to discover!
Creativity is huge in Second Life too. I notice that many of the more negative reviews haven't focused so much on this. Building for example, and scripting. Learning how to do these things is a lot of fun, and there are plenty of resources available, including the official SL wiki pages and many tutorials online. Building is a lot of fun and you can sell your own original items on the Second Life Marketplace. A lot of people also run their own businesses in SL such as clothing and homeware and furniture stores. I just visited a really cool boat store today and visited a harbour.
Like ANY online platform, there is always a mixed bag of people. You can come across all sorts of people anywhere online. In Second Life you can block people the same as on other sites, and it's common sense not to share real life info with people you don't know online. Obviously people can take on personas in Second Life, so they often may not be in real life, who they are in Second Life. Being mindful and using common sense is really key. I usually ignore random messages and block if I feel they are being rude or behaving weird. You can also report unacceptable behaviour. I've always had a good experience with regards to Second Life support, and they usually reply in good time.
I've never experienced a Linden staff member trolling me and I've never seen it happen either in 13 years of being regularly in Second Life. Someone mentioned this in another review. It's not something I have ever come across or witnessed myself though.
As for people keeping themselves to themselves...well many people are in SL just to chill and do their own thing, be that building, photography, exploring or whatever. Not everyone is going to want to be friends, and actually you don't need loads of friends in-world to enjoy it. I've made some cool friends over the years, but also people come and go a lot. Some dissapear never to return, or they return after a long time away. That's just how it is though. People have their real lives going on that take priority over Second Life. You also have to remember and respect that people are in Second Life for themselves and not for you.
If it's not for you, that's ok, but there is so much to do and explore in Second Life.
My personal view is that it's for grown ups. It's not difficult to accidentally find more 'adult' things, even when not actively seeking them out. There are a lot of adult places thar do tend pop up in search results, even if you are searching for something like a pub or just a clothing store for mesh clothing, for example. However, if you have your settings set so that adult content is unchecked, then you are a lot less likely to see it, as it will be filtered out. That said, if I had children, I wouldn't allow them on under the age of 18, as some of the adult content is very adult, and even with adult content filtered out, there is still the chance they might stumble across something very adult, infact it has happened to me. I'm an older person and so ignored it and moved on, but it might not really be what you would want your teenage son or daughter to see.
Linden Lab staff uses Alts to harass customers
Has devolved into a platform to indulge any depravity one can think of. Customer service is a joke -- even for Premium customers. Many of the Linden Lab associates and partners grief and harass customers, pick out all the best land and parcels for themselves, and operate thousands of alts on the grid. You should understand this: If you're being griefed or otherwise harassed, it may very well be the alts of a Linden Lab employee, LPWD, or viewer developer. TOS is structured to protect bad behavior, and usurp accountability. The parcel security rules in the newer communities are designed to allow griefers to harass with impunity -- 15 secs at a time. If you immediately eject a griefer YOU will be banned. Shockingly, unfiltered harassment in the form of racist images and stereotypically offensive avatars is not only tolerated, multiple complaints to Linden Labs will go completely ignored. The only question is, do they ignore it because the culprits are among their ranks, or do they simply not care? Perhaps the changes to the B of D will have positive impact. As things stand, anyone wondering in for the first time will quickly find it to offer little beyond empty sims, deviant sex, a multitude of alts, nonsensical rules, useless TOS, and an apathetic staff who regards you as a nuisance.
Second life is literally crap,It's full…
Second life is literally crap,It's full of prostitution, ageplay, pedophiles, stalkers, hackers,
catfish etc.also the staff does not care what anyone is doing or if they are doing horrible things, try reporting ageplay etc and they will ban you from second life and make you lose everything.IMVU is much better then second life and also out ranked second life.give it a go,you can find realistic mesh heads, skins, better clothes then second life, better looking rooms and outdoor rooms, and you dont have to pay rent for your own space.
Lag On High End Pc's And Horrendous Scripts
Well my experience was never good on this platform. I always found it to be laggy regardless what kind of system I ran it on. Trolls are quick to tell you, you have a weak system yadda yadda, and that you need a new pc every year in order to play. Well thanks, but no thanks... there are plenty of well made Virtual Worlds with nice graphics that run lag free compared to SL, and I would rather spend my money on RL entertainment, objects than a bunch of pixelated crap that may all disappear one day, and I also prefer to spend time with good quality people that SL seems to lack. I also find it interesting that several users have had their graphic cards fried because they left SL on overnight, and that SL has deleted any posts regarding this matter on the forums when users have made several complaints. Sounds real shady to me...
But, hey if you like badly run scripts, lag, replacing your video card often and creepy socially awkward people... by all means play SL.
I agree with Ron Bizzle
I agree with Ron Bizzle. There is also gambling, and it's not regulated. I also agree with those who've posted that Second Life is not for kids, being that it is used as a place where the BDSM community meet and know each other.
Linden Lab is Aiding and Abetting…
Linden Lab is Aiding and Abetting Criminal Activity:
Millions of real life dollars are siphoned from the Second Life music community yearly....without any royalties paid to rightful copyright owners for use of their material...nor are there any real life taxes imposed....all the while....Linden Lab profits from transfer fees for out-going/laundered money.....and music venues wish to act like hotshots while they harbor entertainers who think they are above the law and avoid paying federal taxes on millions of virtual world (Second Life) income.
Some people believe real life regulations stop at the log in screen entering Second Life
When you speak out against corruption in Second Life....they attempt to flip it around...make you out to be the bad guy...YOU are the criminal.......your name entered into ban list all around the grid.
Second Life has become an evil empire full of corruption, greed and trolls....There are much better things to do than to consolidate yourself with a bunch of a--holes.
A lot of real life money revolves around virtual world music venues....hiring of entertainers ($20.00 per hour...sometimes a lot more than that.....plus tips.........some earning up to and well over $400.00 per week in real life income)....dance animations, guitars, pianos, drum sets....etc....venues furniture....blah, blah, blah. It cost money to buy virtual world lindens (money) and then it cost again to transfer lindens (money) back out into the real world.
I don't believe I've ever run across a bigger loud mouth, egoistic con-artist in all my life.....truly sickening.....: Seth Regan aka "Mankind Tracer"
Was playing second life for two weeks…
Was playing second life for two weeks when I bought something in game which I didn't receive, when I disputed it through paypal I was locked out of my account. I contacted then asking to let me back in as I was disputing something I bought not any memberships or anything and they basically told me to drop the dispute or pay $49 to access my account. I dropped the dispute, they let me back into my account. All was good so I thought until I tried to make another payment and they held my payment and have not got back to any other my tickets. So basically the game is useless as you need money and do anything so all the money I spent on the account was pointless.
When first playing the game you will be confronted by people who I think work for the game phishing, saying you don't look very good and need to purchase items for your avatar so you end up spending a load of money for nothing really.
I have been in Second life…
I have been in Second life approximately 5 years , on and off. Overall I enjoy it. Some people are great , some not so much. As in real life. My only real issue is the support. If you file a ticket, it can take days or weeks to get any responses. Not even a , we are working on it, email.. for what they charge for premium members. It's very disappointing.
Secondlife was fun years ago
Secondlife was fun years ago, 99% now are just losers who have zero social skills.
Crap
Was a real estate agent on second life for 10 years, Yes your IP Address is visible to others the minute you listen to second life music at your land or a club. Second life warns you of this. greifers also go about the lands dropping off little boxes which if clicked gives a link you fill in your details and they have your account, this is usually done by beginners, The only thing that makes money in second life is sex.
Entertainment"stripper bar" Unless you can make bento animations or design mesh or skins you have no chance, Second life is one big Sodom and Gomorrah men run around believing there gods with over sized penis. Its not a place for kids, There is a lot of people on here that are keen to have sex with underage people, be very careful if you are underage. rape is another huge thing in second life, collars leashes, having sex as animals, they like to cause trouble too. using huds to attack and grief people, these people are the ones to run to Linden labs if attacked, Men seem to get a big head with second life is there is a lot of desperate woman on sl.
which makes sl much worse, These are mostly adults..
Been on here for 15 years
This virtual world has brought me a lot of joy. I've met so many great people in my years here, and I'm always learning about new fun things to do.
It hasn't ruined my life like some of the other people here have said. Everything is bad if you are unable to use some moderation. I've been running an entertainment center in Second Life and haven't spent a cent on it in years because of the profit from that.
Ignore the last two negative reviews
Ignore the last two negative reviews. A script in SL can not harvest your IP address. This is just mindless scare mongering by people who do not really understand what they are talking about. Just don't open any links to web pages that you are unfamiliar with and you will be fine. It is no more dangerous than any other virtual world / forum / place on the internet. As with everything you just simply take the proper precautions. I have been playing second life now for 13+ years and I have yet to encounter any real issue that I would say has posed me any kind of threat.
Second Life is a virtual world where the content of the virtual world is created in its entirety by the users. It has its own programming language called LSL which you can use to do everything from script vehicles to creating combat games. It has building through use of native objects called prims, or, if you are fancy, you can learn to develop 3D objects through programs such as blender and import them in world. It can be a little pricey at times sure but as with anything its down to you to set your own limits on how much you want to spend. There are plenty of free items on the Second Life Marketplace to design your avatar with. You don't need to own land or even get a premium account. You can exist on Second Life by spending little to no money if you really wanted to. It can be a little daunting when you first log in as there is a small learning curve but persevering through that is worth it. I have been on SL for a little over 13 years now and honestly, some of the best times I have had whilst being online have happened inside of Second Life.
I won't recommend second life for anyone else!!
I won't recommend second life for anyone else! It's very dangerous platform I ever came across in network. Trust me! It's look good and interesting as beginner because they led to explore the virtual world as free basic account. Once you started to explore in world, you get addicted to it. Later, you upgrade your account to premium account. You start to create avatar as much as possible to look hot and attractive by spending your rl money on it. I have been in second life for one and half year where I met lot of people spending more real money just to buy virtual stuffs in second life. Even they don't care about their money, how they wasted for virtual in world. Second life gives fake hope and illusion for people's unmet fantasies. You don't need to bother or worry about your action as like in real life. This is how I got addicted! I don't need to do anything in my real. All I need to do, just login in virtual and fulfil my unmet dreams just by sitting at my bed. That's sounds cool! I don't need to get off my comfortable zone and do hard work as like in real life. If you think you have lot of issues and anxiety or depression, second life is not a good opinion for you. I am damn sure that you gonna to ruin your real life than before. In conclusion, I was really never bothered to lose things in real life like money, relationship and family which virtual can't replace and never. I ignored everything for second life illusions which hooks deep in your brain. Now, I regret and wasted my whole one year in second life. DON'T FALL FOR FAKE ILLUSION!!
Second Life is dangerous and disgusting.
Second Life is a legitimately dangerous place. Scripting is still capable of harvesting IP addresses. People are contacted in Real Life via Second Life and many bad things have occurred. The software is largely obsolete and the activities are predominately sexual. Second Life showed promise but clearly Linden Labs is focused on virtual sex. I went there for years to play live music for people. It was nothing but a fiasco. Linden Labs are pornographers.
I love Secondlife so much
I love Secondlife so much for a few reasons. It has a massive world with so many places to explore and go to. There are many lovely events, shopping places, clubs and atmospheric places. Because of coming back to this game I have felt inspired to begin creating things again to then upload into the world. Some people have been really lovely in the game also. I am often invited to clubs and parties that are happening in secondlife. As for earning lindens.. it can be difficult but I tend to go fishing if desperate or i enter raffles or use a little real money. Though the amount of money I have spent is truly worth it because you do get quite a nice amount of lindens even for paying a small amount. Compared to other games I feel like this game is worth spending some money on if you can. Though if you can't it doesn't matter because there are thousands of gifts to be found in secondlife and ways to earn lindens.
This game is trash
This game is trash. They don't even give your free coins for making an account, which is bad etiquette. You literally can't do anything unless you use actual money to buy their fake currency. The directions to play are horrible; I mean the worse. It's so disappointing. I tried this game out because I was reading about virtual worlds in a book and decided to google some. It took me three hours just to find other users in the virtual world and the set up is horrible. I'm soo disappointed. Do not spend your money on this game.
Second Life rocks
Second Life rocks, it's awesome, keep up the great work Linden Labs.
