🔴 WARNING: Avoid Belvilla at All Costs – Unresolved Case for Over 3 Months!

I booked a property via Belvilla (Booking ID: 1LTHGVW4) in February 2024 for a large group, and the listing at the time clearly showed 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. I even double-checked by email and got a confirmation from Belvilla that the details were correct.

On the day of check-in (June 22), the owner himself called and informed me that there was a mistake on Belvilla’s website, and that the apartment only had 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. He directly told me to find another place because the property wouldn’t fit our group, and that they would cancel the booking due to this error.

I had no option but to book another apartment last-minute, which of course was much more expensive than my original booking — since I had made that booking four months in advance.

Since then, I’ve been contacting Belvilla nonstop for over 3 months. I’ve sent all evidence — screenshots of the listing, confirmation emails, even the host’s messages. Every time I contact them, they say the same thing: “Your case is under review with management, please wait”. It's now been more than 7 weeks since they said the issue will be resolved within 3–4 weeks, and still no refund, no compensation, no resolution.

⚠️ WARNING: Based on my experience, I strongly advise travelers to stay away from Belvilla. There is no guarantee that your rights as a guest will be protected, even if you have proof. Customer service is slow, repetitive, and ultimately unhelpful. If anything goes wrong, you may be left on your own — with no refund, no help, and no accountability.

This was one of the worst travel service experiences I’ve ever had. Do not risk your trip or your money with this platform.

Customer service completely useless.
Very frustrating experience contacting customer service. Email not active, call center not doing what they promised and ai-generated helpdesk just talking nonsence. And the stay hasn't even started yet....

Nice and large villa in a nature area

Nice and large villa in a nature area. Ideal location for walking. Sunny and shadow terrace. Friendly owners. There is no airco, but you dont miss it as the house is old and has thick walls and tiny windows. Last 2 km road to the house is offroad, not for sportscars:-)

But if something went wrong during booking, during the stay or if you want to change the dates, or you want to just discuss something, you will get automated messages and they won't really think with you towards a solution.

Love this place

We really enjoyed the house and the beautiful estate. The house was warm and cozy when we arrived and everything we needed was there. I really enjoyed the wood stove and the bath. Our bed was made and we really felt welcome. During New Year's Eve it was quiet and peaceful and that was exactly what we came for. However, our stay really relaxed us. You can enjoy walking in the area and visit some nice places. Highly recommended.

A nice stay with a small point of interest

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful vacation home. The tranquility, the beautiful surroundings and the cozy atmosphere of the house make it a wonderful place to be. The house is clean, well equipped and comfortable.

One small point to note is the language barrier, which caused some confusion. We had specifically asked for a crib, but a travel bed was provided. Unfortunately, our youngest did not sleep well in it, which was a small blip on an otherwise fantastic stay.

Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this vacation rental to anyone looking for a nice place to stay. With a little extra tweaking, the stay would be absolutely perfect! 😊

Great house, lovely, relaxing week in a beautiful, rural area / Heerlijke, ontspannen week in een prachtige landelijke omgeving, een oase van rust

We spent an autumn week with great pleasure at ‘La Chevalerie’ in Somme-Leuze. The house is located on a beautiful, quiet location, looking out over a valley, and towards the village of Somme-Leuze. A great viewpoint, both from the beautiful green garden, as well as from the house, especially from one of the bedrooms (if you opened the curtains in the morning in that room, you had a really fantastic view, even from your bed, a wonderful way to wake up 😊). Beautiful green hills and forests surround the house everywhere. This is a great place to settle down/relax and escape the busy daily life. La Chevalerie is located on a quiet hilltop with fields around, (pleasantly) private (the closest house is a couple of minutes away by car) which is nice, has plenty of room to park cars and a large garden, and is largely at ground level (except for the cellar). The house is clean and well maintained, spacious (we spent the week with 7 people there but there was room for more). Before booking - we did read some older reviews, some of them (not all) quite negative, but still decided to take a chance (these reviews were from a couple of years back), luckily this turned out well for us because these problems have been resolved in the meantime, our experience was that the house is clean and well maintained. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. La Chevalerie has 2 bathrooms, one smaller one with a shower and a toilet, and one really large bathroom, with a large marble bath (which our kids enjoyed). Our kids also loved the cellar, where they amused themselves especially with table tennis (there was also a table soccer table, shuffleboard (sjoelbak) and a simple air hockey table and other things for kids to play). The house is located close to the regional hubs of Durbuy (very charming!) and Marche-en-Famenne with plenty of shops and opportunities for activities. But it is also surrounded by nice and beautiful areas for hikes/walks, which we enjoyed very much. While we were there, a problem occurred with the shower, but after calling the renting agency, it was almost immediately fixed by the contractor who works for the owner, he came by, was very helpful and friendly, and solved the issue almost immediately, so that was also very positive. As mentioned, the house is wonderful for a relaxing week, especially in good company, with family or friends. For those with a busy life, it is an excellent place to settle down and relax. I would very much recommend La Chevalerie and would love to come back another time.

We hebben in de herfstvakantie 2024 een week met veel plezier verbleven in 'La Chevalerie' in Somme-Leuze. Het huis ligt op een prachtige, rustige locatie, met uitzicht over een vallei en uitzicht in de richting van het dorp Somme-Leuze. Het huis bevindt zich op een geweldig uitzichtpunt, zowel vanuit de mooie groene tuin als vanuit het huis, vooral vanuit één van de slaapkamers (als je 's ochtends de gordijnen in die kamer opende, had je een echt fantastisch uitzicht, zelfs vanuit je bed, een heerlijke manier om wakker te worden 😊). Mooie groene heuvels en bossen omringen het huis overal. Dit is een geweldige plek om tot rust te komen en te ontsnappen aan het drukke dagelijkse leven. La Chevalerie ligt op een rustige heuveltop met velden eromheen, het ligt (aangenaam) privé (het dichtstbijzijnde huis is een paar minuten met de auto), wat fijn is, heeft voldoende ruimte om auto's te parkeren en een grote tuin, en is grotendeels gelijkvloers (behalve de kelder). Het huis is schoon en goed onderhouden, ruim (we hebben de week met 7 mensen doorgebracht, maar er was ruimte voor meer). We hebben van tevoren enkele recensies uit het verleden gelezen, sommige (niet alle!) waren behoorlijk negatief maar toch besloten de gok te wagen (de recensies waren al van enkele jaren terug), wat gelukkig goed uitpakte, deze problemen zijn inmiddels verholpen, onze ervaring was dat het huis schoon en goed onderhouden is. De keuken is ruim en goed uitgerust. La Chevalerie heeft 2 badkamers, een kleinere met een douche en een toilet, en een echt grote/ruime badkamer, met een groot marmeren bad (waar onze kinderen van genoten hebben). Onze kinderen hebben zich ook goed vermaakt in de kelder, vooral met tafeltennis (er was ook een tafelvoetbaltafel, sjoelbak en een eenvoudige airhockeytafel). Het huis ligt dicht bij de regionale knooppunten van Durbuy (zeer charmant!) en Marche-en-Famenne met veel winkels en mogelijkheden voor activiteiten. Maar het huis is ook omgeven door prachtig landelijk gebied, ideaal voor wandelingen, waar we erg van genoten hebben. Het huis is geweldig voor een ontspannende week, vooral in goed gezelschap, met familie of vrienden. Voor degenen met een druk leven is het een uitstekende plek om tot rust te komen en te ontspannen.

Discrimination

Discrimination based on factors that are illegal are put in place. They hold up reservations until they verify factors that are not considered legal to verify in the EU. Hopefully authorities look into their malpractices very soon.

Belvilla did not stick to T&C's and tried to charge us invented penalties

the house we stayed at and the holiday we enjoyed was 5 stars. thank you marjorie for your wonderful home. we look forward to staying with you in the future. i am just glad that i have the owner's private number now because - and i mean this in the most derogatory way possible - dealing with belvilla was worse than passing a kidney stone.
