Broken bats, broken promises

Their bats just don't last. Spending £400 you don't expect something to break after 10 games. Their "repair" of a dowel through the handle lasted as long as one might expect, i.e. about 1 ball. According to the lovely Jonno, this is because you're rubbish at cricket and "using it wrong".
Stay. Well. Clear.

Order not delievered since 2023

Ordered some kit for my son in December 2023. It never arrived and was initially updated that there was difficulty in the shipping of the kit from overseas. After a few months all further emails asking for updates ignored to date. I see on these reviews that I'm not the only one so order at your risk! They will be more than happy to take your money though.

Ripped off

Ordered clothes in January from Canada. After confirming the order via email so far all emails and two voicemails ignored. Totally ghosted.

Top Quality

Not the easiest place to get to and not the easiest to get an appointment but when you do it is well worth it. Very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Most of all the kit is top, top notch!

Woodstock - A class above the rest!

Great products, great service and speed of delivery first rate. The craftsmanship and skill that goes into making such high quality Cricket equipment is second to none. Great value too given the quality of their bats, pads and stylish clothing. Woodstock is a class above!

Great Teamwear and Equipment

Woodstock are a fantastic nationwide cricket bat and teamwear provider. We are a club of over 100 members, use Woodstock for teamwear and a number of our players use their batting equipment and we are delighted with the quality of the products. Johnno and his team do a brilliant job in ensuring that the products are right for our players and we are so happy to be supporting a local business trying to do right for the cricket community.

Their initiatives for the 2024 season going forward being able to pay over 12 months, and supporting outstanding charitable causes through the purchase of their equipment is pioneering and should lead the way for other cricket equipment providers to enable this to the game.

Cricket is often seen as an elitist sport and Woodstock are actively trying to change this for the better of our game in this country. As Head of Cricket at Farnsfield, I am proud to be partnering with a great local business like Woodstock and look forward to our partnership growing in the years to come.

I love Woodstock. Quality products, reasonably priced

I have purchased a number of items from Woodstock over the last few years, mostly a bat and several pairs of gloves. The bat is the best blade I have ever wielded. Before buying it, my batting average was 18.16. Now it's 42.39!

The gloves I have bought have been exceptionally high quality and comfortable, offering the perfect mix of protection, flexibility and grip. As long as they keep producing them, I'll keep buying them!

Continued excellence

Always a great company to work with. Woodstock have provided our teamwear for a couple of years and it is excellent and I’ve been using the bats, as well as a full kit bag, for about 10 years. Great quality and fair pricing!

Disappointed is an understatement.

Disappointed is an understatement.
When John Newsome ran the company it was one you could trust....not now.
Sent a bat back for refurb, got it back several months later after numerous attempts to contact them with no response and then finding out they had lost it. They needlessly shaved a lot of wood off the toe without asking. First use after refurb the bat has broken. AVOID THIS SHOWER!!!!

Hi Nathan, after the first review I held my water, but I think it's time to add some context to your rambling keyboard warrior approach and complete lack of knowledge or understanding. One of the greatest problems our industry faces is a consumer base that feel they know a lot more than they do, and you're the perfect example.

Firstly, "when John Newsome ran the company"... John is still heavily involved in the business, just not front of house - that's the first error to put right.

Next let's look into the refurbishment. You didn't like the way the refurbishment was completed, I assume because you are an expert (but couldn't complete the refurb yourself), or you have many industry experts who have told you you're in the right (yet you didn't send the bat to them to refurb for you??)
This new way of refurbishing bats offers the toe guard a lot more protection from tapping at the crease, but more importantly much reduces potential water damage through said tapping. The older way of doing toe guards meant the toe of the bat didn't sit flush to the ground and over time the toe would wear away leaving gaps for moisture to get into the wood. This (I assume as an expert you would know) weakens the toe of the bat significantly, with the wood never being as structurally sound once it dries out.
Many suppliers (but not all, no doubt including your vast array of contacts) now utilise this new method, ensuring water damage is minimised and bats can last as long as possible.

Despite our better judgement, we offered you a £100 voucher such is our desire to ensure our customers remain happy. You gratefully accepted this before launching your first tirade (review) and chose a set of our top of the range pads which were shipped out to you.

It also surprises me that you say it has broken in the first use after the refurb. All seems very convenient doesn't it. An "expert" customer who has a bat at least 4 years old doesn't like the way the refurb has been completed then suggests it's broken after its first use. All this despite having accepted a voucher after complaining the first time. You're beginning to just look a bit like you've nothing better to do.

Having looked at stats for both you (LMS) and your son (Play Cricket), may I suggest a pro level bat is probably the wrong level... I often say to people that you could give Joe Root the worst bat in the world and he would still score runs with it. Also you could give a poor cricketer a top quality bat and they'd still make the game look incredibly difficult. I don't think either of us are under any illusion as to which side of that particular equation we are dealing with here.

Maybe more time in the nets and less time spent bashing out ill informed, desperate for attention emails might be the way forwards, but you'll get your kicks however you want I guess. To be honest I'm disappointed with even giving you time time to respond. All of the charity based work we are doing as a business, and initiatives we are running to make the game more accessible for everyone deserve my attention far more than dealing with a self indulgent, self absorbed cretin who is happy to take a voucher from someone trying to keep them happy only to then start throwing punches anyway.

The industry needs a wholesale change. Everyone in the industry (actual experts) agree that 99% consumers seem to think they know more than they do. Next time we all catch up I'll be sure to make sure you're brought up as a perfect example.

I do hope your 2024 season brings the household more cricketing success than in previous years, maybe a Div 7 or 11 championship might even be on the cards!! What a time to be alive

Shop somewhere else

Woodstock couldn’t care less about customers. Rarely acknowledge attempts to contact them and blame circumstances outside of their control for outrageously long lead times (talking 6months or so). Happy to take your money but not happy to provide a product. Poor.

The worst cricket company ever

Bat used for few times at the end of last season, then put away in the bag for the winter. Broke in the nets the first time it was used for the new season. poor workmanship and hid behind the 6 months warranty. Basically called me a liar and then proceeded to gaslight me. Avoid if you don’t want to lose £400. It’s a kids so not exactly hitting the ball hard. I was talked into buying it after johnno said hand made bats dont break like machine made ones. But that clearly isn’t the case, look at the photo. Had it ten months altogether so clearly not made to last. A machine bat has never broke before on me. Very rude, patronising and condescending. Check out the reviews on google, very bad company. Look at my profile pic at the bat

Bat refurb

My old woodstock was seemingly on its last legs. Still an ace middle but the toe was, well, a bit buggered.
I got in touch with Jonno to ask if it could be saved. He and the team got the bat looking like a completely new bit of wood and given something a second life. New stickers and all.
Great service.
Look forward to using it in the nets next week

The Woodstock gear is fantastic

The Woodstock gear is fantastic! It all started with the process of selecting the bat where Johnno talked us through what to look for and selecting a bat that suited my playing style. He focused on providing a valuable service that meant I ended up with the best bat I've ever used. Half the team I play for now has bats from Woodstock that they love. Great gear, great service.
