Booked car in with Steve at Tates…
Booked car in with Steve at Tates Citroen on old shoreham road in Portslade. I imediatley noticed that electrics for all lights were out on the entire back of car. To get fixed I had to pay £140 which I reluctantly agreed to as this problem never existed before I booked car in. After getting car back, electrics on back of car fixed, the electrics on driver window & wing screen mirrors are suddenly no longer working. Even though these worked fine before I booked them in, Steve said (without hesitation or even looking at it) that this is a coincidence and nothing to do with them (even though I explained that they have never had a fault before since I owned the car) and I have to pay another £140 to get it back in. This is appalling service and a blatant scam to get me to keep giving them money.

Excellent service for an older Citroen C3
My car went in to Citroen with suspected BCM issues (diagnosed at another garage), and it really did look like worst case scenario. Being an older 2011 Citroen C3, I was advised by others to cut my losses and scrap it, but it's a great little car and never really given me trouble. Phoned Citroen who offered to do the full diagnostic before I made my decision to fix it or trade in. My appointment was a few weeks away, but they kindly contacted me when they had a cancellation so got in nice and early. They even let me drop it off the day before as my wipers were not working and we were due heavy rain. Steve Coppard done a full diagnostic and health check and turned out, it was the fuse box. The part was ordered quickly, and my car was back on the road in no time. Such a small thing and easily solvable! Can't believe it wasn't picked up before I saw Steve at Citroen. He took his time to do a full health check on it, offer invaluable advice, did the work for a really reasonable price and kept me informed the whole way. He is just a super nice chap and can't help you enough. The car also come back completely valeted, which was a really nice surprise, so that really was the cherry on top. Thanks Steve for the 5 star service from start to finish...I'm really glad I visited and incredibly happy to be back on the road. Car is as good as new, and I am one happy customer.
Terrible service department
Sales people are great, the after service and service department are terrible, they don’t honour the service agreement or warranty, if anything goes wrong , they want £125 to put the vehicle on the computer, they always blame you for any issues ,so they don’t have to pay out on repairs, regardless of warranty or service plan . You then have to pay £125 and cost to repair the vehicle.
They will lie to your face , I spoke to Citroen and they confirmed tates, had not even contacted them regarding the issue, however the service department said they’re talking to Citroen regarding the charge , but they just lied about all off it. We are on your side the service chap said, complete lies , he didn’t even contact Citroen , easier to charge me, their service plans and warranty is a joke . Heard to the same from many people do not buy from tates. If you break down , which my new unreliable Citroen has done, they never have a courtesy car and the wait is always 3/4 weeks to be seen, get more staff , and honest staff .

Also didn’t really chase up the service history ,as Irequested in the end I did it myself but it was easy enough just asked a vw commercial centre for it ,its online
The plus point was the suggestion of including RAC mechanical cover included in the price instead of the Tates in house warranty as I travelled down to Brighton from Yorkshire
Also he did pick me up from the train station ,so on balance not too bad
In comparison to a BMW which I bought at the same time they delivered the vehicle from London for nothing,full tank of fuel ,logged my warranty for me ,replaced a back up key for nothing ,rang me to ensure I was completely happy ,even knocked an additional £500 off without me asking ….that is a 5 star service
