Great fun - great peolple.
I recommend it anytime!

Grew up in Copenhagen. Felt like home. But thank you, Old Irish Pub, for reminding me I’m still just a Black man in the eyes of some. Denied entry while others walked in freely.No explanation. No respect.
The irony? This city raised me yet moments like this remind me I’m still a stranger in certain spaces, not for how I act, but how I look.

Security Behavior is not good is not well .

I went there to have a few drinks and just relax for the evening. I passed through security at the door and got the usual stamp given to customers.

I went and sat at the bar, ordered my drink, and was simply enjoying watching people have fun. After about 30 minutes, I ordered another drink. While I was drinking, a security guard approached me and asked me to come with them. I left my drink and followed them outside, where I politely asked if there was any problem.

They told me to leave, and I calmly asked if I had done something wrong or what the issue was. One of the security guards said I was on drugs. I have never felt so embarrassed. I don’t even smoke cigarettes, let alone do drugs. I told him that I don’t use drugs, and he said, “Your eyes are red.” Of course my eyes were red—I had been drinking and was a bit tired. That doesn’t mean I was on drugs.

While we were talking, another security guard suddenly grabbed me roughly and threw me onto the pavement. I injured my arm. I felt defenseless, embarrassed, and ashamed, with no one to turn to.

All this happened simply because I’m a Black man who just wanted to enjoy his evening. I came home with an injured arm and a broken spirit. 😭😭

Solo travelers
Solo travelers might be treated very badly, worst if you don't have white skin, in this place at Copenhagen. Rather pay entrance somewhere else than get mistreated ...

I used to enjoy this place. I had any issue with bouncers before, quite the opposite. I always been respectful and understanding. All were nice to me, except this dude with black bear, very rude, arrogant and with a very bad attitude. I felt discriminated then decided to leave by myself, when he saw that he tried to push me and ask me to leave. Unacceptable behaviors, why touching me? while I am respectful and outside the bar leaving by my own due to his disgusting manners. Danish dudes do not behave that way.

I had a EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE at the New Year’s event, and the handling of my complaint has only made matters worse.

My friends and I purchased tickets in advance through Kide.app, confident that everything would be organized. When we arrived at the venue before midnigth as the rules said, we validated our tickets and received wristbands. One of our friends SPECIFICALLY spoke to one of the managers present and he assured us that we could leave and re-enter later without any issues, as long as we had our wristbands or stamps.

So with that information, we put our wristbands, left and returned shortly after midnight, expecting smooth entry as promised. However, we were told to join the same long queue as those who hadn’t purchased tickets in advance. Despite explaining the situation and showing our wristbands, we were denied priority entry.

We spent almost tree hours waiting in the cold, with no resolution or proper assistance from the staff. The lack of clear communication and proper organization ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. Seeing no progress in the line, it became clear that there was no real chance of getting in. We eventually left, FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED, WITHOUT EVER ENJOYING THE EVENT WE HAD PAID FOR.

After the incident, I sent two emails to the venue asking for clarification on how to proceed, but I received no response for over two weeks. Frustrated, we decided to visit the establishment and speak directly with the manager. The manager contacted the staff from that night, and we were told that the team "remembers" never informing us that we could leave and re-enter, and that the policy was the opposite. ESSENTIALLY ACCUSING US OF LYING. THIS WAS BEYOND DISRESPECTFUL.

We were assured that we would receive a response to our email after this discussion, but days later, I am STILL waiting for any follow-up from the venue.

This lack of accountability and respect is UNACCEPTABLE, and it has turned what could have been a simple resolution into an even worse experience.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS VENUE, ESPECIALLY FOR EVENTS, UNLESS THEY MAKE SERIOUS CHANGES TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ORGANIZATION.

Our New Year’s Eve at the Helsinki Old Irish Pub turned into a nightmare due to poor organization, miscommunication, and disrespectful treatment. We purchased "early bird tickets" via Kide.app, redeemed them before 23:55 as required, and received assurances from the staff and manager that we could re-enter after midnight with our wristbands. However, after briefly stepping outside, we were denied re-entry at 00:10 despite showing proof of payment and wristbands.
We waited in the freezing cold for nearly three hours in a chaotic, unorganized queue where no priority was given to ticket holders. When we sought clarification, staff members were dismissive, and one even pushed a friend instead of explaining. Realizing we might not get back in, we eventually gave up and left. Selling large numbers of tickets through Kide.app and then being unable to let in even those who have redeemed their tickets and have wristbands while simultaneously selling additional tickets at the door is shocking. Despite being reassured by both staff and management and having purchased tickets in advance, we were unable to properly enter the event or enjoy it due to miscommunication and poor organization.

Attempts to resolve the issue were equally frustrating. Emails went unanswered, phone communication provided false information about meeting the manager, and we were made to wait for hours at the pub. When we finally spoke with someone claiming to be the manager, we were met with rudeness, denial of our claims, and accusations of lying. I am asking to everyone: “Why would anyone wait for three hours in the freezing cold if they knew they couldn’t get in, even with a wristband?” I explained that we acted based on the information given to us. THEY TOLD US BASICALLY LIARS. This was the final straw for me.
We are students living and studying in this country. I am not someone who would take offense unnecessarily, but I can’t help but think that if we spoke Finnish or looked more "European," we might have been treated differently.
The incident has permanently tarnished our view of the pub, which we previously enjoyed despite its flaws. This complaint may not change anything, but sharing our story might help others.

Racism still exists
Me and my friend visited this pub for fun but that the security guard in the entrance let the white people go inside and told us to stand aside however i showed my yellow card but then he said you guys can’t go for tonight so you have to leave?why?
Well we already read so many reviews regarding this pub before going there so yeah we experienced the same. Well appreciated 👍

I was waiting outside The Old Irish Pub for a friend when I approached two women who were selling hats. Shortly after, one of the women went inside to speak to your security personnel, who then approached me aggressively, pushed me, and told me to leave, despite me standing outside of the nearby Burger King.

I complied and informed the security guard that I was simply waiting for a friend. However, when I later attempted to enter the club where my friends were waiting, the same security guard pushed me again, this time with two hands to my chest, and refused me entry. I was told that I was acting "aggressively," which is simply not true. I even started recording the situation for my own protection.

To make matters worse, the security personnel communicated with another bar in the vicinity to prevent me from entering, despite my friends having already spent a significant amount of money at the second location.

I believe the way your security personnel handled this situation was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. Being pushed and treated unfairly is unacceptable, and I am asking for a review of this incident.

Vi havde bestilt bord til kl. 20 og havde købt 4 flasker. Efter 23 går vi så ud for at får en smøg og når vi kommer tilbage skal vi betale 100 kr. I Entre og det er ejeren der står i døren.
Større spade af en ejer skal man lede længe efter.

Response: I already clarified. I went outside and when I returned to the entrance they wanted me to pay 100 kr. For entrance even though I had been there all night, reserved a table and bought several bottles. When I went outside they didn't tell me to get a stamp on my hand and even though they knew I was at the bar all night, they refused to let me in without me paying 100 kr. For it. I was told by one of the staffs that the guy in the entrance was a manager of some sort.

A great and communicative staff. Ordered around 6-7 cocktails, dont remember the count, but loved all of them!

Discriminating toward people with tattoos! Did not allow my friend with sleeves tattoos inside

Odense departement. Bad customer service. Rude manager without any sense of situational awareness. Wanted to show his trainees how to run a bar, but failed miserably in that. Thumbs down on this experience.

*Reply to Oldirish: The bartender told us we could order food from the nearby restaurant. As almost everything is closed after 9pm in Odense we finally managed to find some food from another place 1 hour later. When we had been eating the food for about 10 minutes your supervising manager of the bar told us to get out because it wasn’t from the restaurant that we had been told to order from (which was closed BTW). This was about 15 minutes to closing time and we politely asked if we could finish the meal while we were drinking the rest of the beer from the bar. He then got very confrontational and rude and we decided to leave but told him how we felt about the lack of customer service and situational awareness in the given situation. My suggestion for improvement is to have a talk to your manager about how customer service is important since the customers are the people who pay for his salary in the end.

I went to the bar in helsinki many times and the workers there are awful, they throw you out if you happen to be next to someone who has done something wrong (which i doubt i think they just threw us out and realized they were wrong and made a bs excuse) the workers there are so rude and absolutely the worst costumer service you will find in finland (oh yes and also many times they have just thrown my drink out and when i ask them for what reason they dont want to answer and if you keep asking them why they tell you to call the police about it)

The The atmosphere is great, but the prices & service could be better.
