The worst experience I ever had was…

The worst experience I ever had was with O2!
I came to their store to sign a contract for internet with 100 Mbps, which was very important for me because I work from home.

In the store, I was asked to sign a blank monitor and was assured it was for 100 Mbps. I was told I couldn’t review the full contract at that time and that the paper version would be sent later.

When the letter arrived by post, I discovered:
• the speed Tarif was 50 Mbps (and could drop to 7 Mbps),
• the contract date was different,
• my name was even incorrect.

I called their hotline and emailed official contacts again and again, trying to change the terms or cancel the contract. After three weeks of unsuccessful attempts, I was told that a contract signed in-store cannot be changed or canceled.

I still needed 100 Mbit so I did it with another provider. I got it with no problems within 3 days and now the line is occupied and is not possible for O2 anymore. Yet, this company continues to charge me for services I never received! The total for two years would be around €1000 — for something I didn’t use.

I’ve shared the full story on my Instagram (username: 3ipkova). There’s a video explaining everything from start to finish so others don’t make the same mistake.

BEWARE

BEWARE! This company is a scam. I bought a home internet line, they charged me for installation, and after a month it stopped working. I have to pay a technician to check it. And that's not all. When I requested a technician, the operator practically imposed conditions on me. I had to buy a new O2 mobile number (they knew my wife didn't speak German well, but they wouldn't assign me to an English-speaking operator until I accepted the new number). Since we didn't know this, the new number arrived at home in a letter. Since I didn't need it, I returned it, but now it turns out I had to pay for it. They are scoundrels, nameless abusers. Now they're trying to charge me even after I'd paid for two years (without using the number) and closed the contract. There's no name for this systematic and abusive scam.

Home Internet Activation Does Not Work.

As usual, activation was only available WEEKS after I signed up. Okay, that's fair, I don't mind, but if you're going to make me wait weeks, you better be sure it works when the date arrives.

The thing is, it didn't. I got an email that my connection is active, but it doesn't work. I get to customer support, I tell them it doesn't work, they tell me to wait a few more hours. A few more hours pass, nearing the end of business day, and it still doesn't work. I call customer support again and finally I get them to admit there's a problem on their end. At this point I'm told to wait for a ticket number and now I have to schedule a technician visit.

I chose o2 because it was the provider the previous tenant of my unit had so I thought it would "just work", and I need this for my job. Feel like an idiot now. There is a bunch of forum posts on their English support site from people with the same experience as me so, apparently, this is pretty normal? o2 just doesn't have it together when it comes to this.

Horrible company [Made me pay for 2 extra months]

Horrible company. I canceled my Flex subscription at the end of October (proof by e-mail). I even called support right after my cancellation to make sure everything would be done. They told me it was all set and that my contract would end at the end of November. Now all of a sudden it didn't came through and after a horrible phone call I got the blame for not cancelling the right way. Now the contract will be ended at the end or January. This means I have to pay for 2 extra months. What an awful way of communicating!!!

Beware of losing 250-1000€ with just one click

If you don't want to use loosing 1000 € or more with one click avoid this company.

I bought an unlimited internet package for 59 Euro a month. I selected cancel anytime option ("Ohne laufzeit") option because I wanted to use the package for a few months.

Either because of bug or by their swindling nature, O2 registered it as a 24 month contract and keeps charging me every month.

Support: They don't have online support (no email support as well). Their employee on the O2 shop told that they support cases like this only by letters to their main office in Nuremberg. Also, their contact service employees reject to check "issues" with their website.

Since three months

Since three months, we are trying to upgrade our Internet plan. Every time they are acting irresponsibly and couldn't make any progress to our request. During crucial times, we cannot depend on their service. Customer calls are diverting the calls to other departments and reluctant to take responsibility.

Azubi Jamal from O2 support tricked me!

I called here today to ask if the O2 internet to go with mobile stick is available at their store and the guy I talked to said yes, so we happily drove to O2 shop at Stadt gallerie and asked to get that plan I was saying and the guy I spoke to named Azubi Jamal told me it is not available, so? We drove just to purchase that mobile internet to to after they confirmed and now there is none?

He ended up giving me a sim card for FREE in which he told me that have free one month of internet, but I should not use it outside Germany and if I will, I will be charged, I happily said ok and agreed and I got home and the sim card won't even activate.

O2 is a hoax! Their promos are non existing and to this guy who let us drive an hour only to say that it is not available according to his chef????? Not Good! You wasted our time!!!!

Forever together.

If you lose your telephone number, you lose access to 2-factor authenticated services, which is every single email account, online banking login, government digital service, social media profile etc that you use.

I cannot afford the contract with O2, but they make it very very very difficult to leave them, or port the number, without months of stress and fear.

On paper you have legal rights, but the answer to every problem, every frustration, every absurdity is apparently a legal fight. Does no one have jobs and lives and loved ones? Is it normal that everyone is expected to put everything in life on hold for 2 months to run after a corporation?

It is a pretence that these are service providers in a "free market" or whatever. Because a telephone number is compulsory to participate in society, so without one you will fall through the cracks - or must go live in a cave.

So they put advertisements up on billboards and televisions as if we have a choice and it actually makes a difference to the bottom-line. But the so-called shops or stores are just like grim processing centres for a ubiquitous part of life.

Online nothing works very well, or by post, or fax (in 2022).

The customer dashboard is a cheap and poorly-made mess of conflicting Javascript frameworks, advertisements and trackers. I try to disable an extra cost on the contract-I-can-never-leave, but instead was added an extra 4.99EU cost to my contract. Then that option has disappeared, and I cannot remove it.

On the telephone, the music breathlessly tells you that this is some evocative beautiful experience.

But I would say there is one strength: the actual humans on the other end of the telephone call centres are always good and helpful people, who are able to do what the O2 "stores" and the online dashboards cannot.

One star because it does not let me put 0. They wouldn't attend me because I don't have a phone line with them. Finally I get to contact them on whatsapp and they tell me they can't help me because I am not the account holder. I ask them to make the change and they tell me that I am already the account holder. 1 more week without internet and they tell me they have no request for a change of ownership. So two months and now they ask me to pay them for a service that I do not have.

Every month, we keep getting a notification from our bank saying that O2 tries to take money even though we canceled their direct debit.

We canceled the wifi 7 months ago and its impossible to get them on the phone!

I have tried everything!

We kind of company is this??? I mean, is it seriously legal to operate like this? Still trying to steal money after almost a year of no service?

Horrendous customer experience

Easily one of the worst customer experiences we have had.

After being clients with o2 for years, we moved flats and asked o2 to change the Internet to the new flat. They tell us they will come on a specific day. We wait, plan the day around it, and nothing. We have a fight over the phone with o2, they give us a new appointment in 2 weeks time (!) And offer to give internet flatrate to my partner's mobile for hot-spot usage. Great.

Day of the second appointment comes, I move meetings and plans around to be at home, I wait for the whole day and again NOTHING. Not even a call to cancel or inform us. Nothing at all.

I spent all of my own data on my hot-spot for taking meetings at home and I called for them to increase my volume, since it seems to me that it is their fault that we still do not have Internet ay home after 2 failed attempts. Well, they just denied on the basis that the Internet contract is on my partners name and "they cannot do anything for me". They offered me to pay 20 € for 10GB. Excuse me, what? Absolutely shameless, I would not recommend this to anyone. And o2: it would have cost you only 20 euros of Internet to keep us as clients and make us a tiny little bit happier after all the mess.

Furthermore, each time you want to talk to a human being you need to go through 30 painful minutes of talking to "Aura" and waiting in line.

I just bought a Vodafone Hot-spot for this week while we wait and we will change Internet provider as soon possible. What a pity that you lost 2 year-long clients over 20 euros of volume!!!!

Do not do it

Do not do it. Seriously. They gave us two contracts, instead of one, without the discount they promised, and there is no way to get rid of the second, completely superfluous contract. The customer service is not bad - it is entirely absent. Do. Not. Do. It.
