I’m genuinely shocked at how far downhill this experience has gone. Since my original review on the 6th August, things have only worsened.
After that review, I was contacted by a helpful staff member named Lucy on 8th August, who sincerely apologised and promised a full refund the following week. I appreciated the gesture and hoped it marked a turning point.
Unfortunately, that hope was short-lived.
I followed up via text on 25th August, and Lucy replied on 29th August saying she would chase the refund.
I followed up again on 11th September – no reply.
I tried again on 26th September, but my message now goes via SMS instead of iMessage, suggesting the number may be disconnected.
I emailed every address I could find on 28th August and again on 26th September – no response.
This entire interaction has been ongoing since the original appointment on 6th June, and I’m left wondering: Is this just a scam?
The lack of communication, broken promises, and complete silence from the company is unacceptable. I’ve been more than patient, but this has become a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience.
I urge the company to take responsibility and resolve this immediately.
My sink was blocked so I called No1 PHD from a local Yourcall advert with a local number, turns out they are based in Poole 150 miles from my house. They told me they would charge £52 per 1/2 an hour, more if they have to use the expensive jet.
When No1 PHD arrived I was asked to read the terms and conditions (a very long read) and sign a contract, all with the pressure of the plumbers waiting.
They then said they would need to put a camera in the drain from the other side of the house. I questioned the need for a camera but they insisted it was necessary, I questioned them about the camera again before they lifted the drain cover but they still insisted on using it. I was told that the drain is cracked and needs cleaning (£200) to enable a sleeve to be installed to seal the cracks (£2000). The drain was installed in October 2024 with a new extension.
I asked them to just unblock the drain under the kitchen sink which they then did, I stayed with them all the time.
Unblocking the drain took 20 minutes however when they had finished I was presented with a bill for £104.
With the camera it had taken 40 minutes and they round it up. I refused to pay £104 so they tried to add £70 for using a vacuum, calling it specialist equipment and told me that I had signed a contract. I offered them £75 take it or leave it which they accepted and left.
I posted a negative review on 30 June, and have been meaning to post an update to reflect the companies response. They handled my complaint seriously, apologised and gave me a full refund. The original drain clearing service was worthy of a 1* review, but the response and general handling of my complaint was 5*
Company still messing neighbour around, very apologetic on the phone but keep saying different things, loo still not fixed!!!!
Neighbour called these out due to a leaking downstairs toilet. They so say cleared a blockage that needed a camera to see, and said the mascerator needed changing . Advised the loo could still be used if just fluid, no paper etc.
Later that day fluid was put in the loo and then flushed, and leaked all over again.
Called the office to be told to expect a call back, no one has rang back 3 days later.
This is an elderly lady who relies on her downstairs toilet. Not impressed.
I wrote a rather negative report based on my treatment . Just to redress the balance here is an update . I had a call from a lovely lady apologising profusely about my treatment. Apart from looking into the matter, I received a generous rebate. Well done. No.1 again! Thanks very much for the way this was handled. Jim Smith

First this company advertised to have plumbers in the Amersham area but are based in Bournemouth...
Four times they have said they are coming to fix a problem and four times they have phoned to say they will have to cancel..... Four times....we are not unreasonable and understand there are sometime difficulties ....makes me wonder if you actually do have any plumbers in the area (after your reply) if there were scheduled holidays why keep booking dates two days later to cancel again......

No1PHD came to unblock our drain but failed to do so, and immediately got my wife (we are both in our 80’s) to make a card payment of £1317.
I arrived home at that moment and was told the drain was blocked by tree roots, and they needed to insert an inspection chamber, and line it with concrete. He said the existing chamber was too far away (it’s 8 meters away), and he explained that the money taken was 50% of the sum needed for the further necessary work.
3 days later a different man came and immediately went to the existing inspection chamber, and unblocked the drain in 10 minutes. He showed me the unblocked pipe on the CCTV and laughed at the suggestion of tree roots.
I assuming that he would be preparing to leave, but when I went outside again he was half way through installing a liner. He said he had seen small flakes of cement in the pipe, but there had been no discussion about the need for this, or the price.
He then told the office he had inserted a liner, and was told to add £500 to the bill, (total cost £3134). They were obviously charging for the inspection chamber as well, but he said we should deal with the office and he left.
They sent us another invoice that was without “inspection chamber” and added the liner (£1200+vat) and various new categories including initial visit (£154), labour-remedial team (£600), equipment (£500), admin+report+guarantee (£245) and waste removal (£75) with a total of £3220. We phoned 2 local drain repairers and one quoted £600 and the other £800 for the work that had been done. We also read previous reports on Trustpilot, finding that No1DPH have a history of this.
The first man was incompetant, and with the second we would have refused the liner if we had been given the chance. No1PHD say they have reduced the outstanding bill to the original £1317 (total £2634 for the job), but we feel that the £1317 we have already paid is more than enough. They have written to say they are going to send bill collectors to the house. If we don’t stop companies like this, more people will get cheated.

Excellent customer service I have posted a review on Google we have used this twice and both times they were outstanding 11 out of 10. The girls in the office are polite pleasant and have excellent customer service skills. The engineer Reuben who visited today (as before) was prompt, polite and pleasant the issue was sorted the same day. We rang just after 8am and the problem was sorted by 4pm. Excellent Company would highly recamend.

I contacted this company on Monday 7th July2025. They promised a plumber for Tuesday PM. I telephoned at 13:15 and they confirmed that a plumber would be coming. I called again at 16:01 and was told that a plumber would be coming and they would get him to call me. That is the last I have heard. It is now Saturday.
Well, the company dodged at least have the courtesy to phone me but they appear to think that one person had visited me two days before I even contacted them.
I did not mention initially, as I only discovered it later but they were listing themselves as Checkatrade approved. This was a current advertisement (July 2025). They are not approved by Checkatrade, although they were at one time. I have reported them to Trading Standards at Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole council and Dorset Council.

I’m really disappointed with this service and I chose them based on good Trustpilot reviews. My blocked drain was duly unblocked but two weeks later it was blocked again. I paid £252 for this service and was told if I wanted it looked at again, I would have to pay for a new job (no mention of the 25% discount for a second visit as detailed on the invoice).
When I asked if there might be an issue with the drain itself they replied they wouldn’t know and that was a different price involving a camera.
Totally disillusioned and seriously out of pocket, I contacted a different company who questioned the work (or lack of) that had allegedly been carried out.
This job cost £190 and one month on, the drain is still clear.

EDIT / I got contacted by the company following my initial review. They recognised their initial job was not up to their standards. They apologised and offered a full refund to help with redecorating the cloakroom. I have given them 3 stars / We used this company for the first time after our cloakroom toilet started leaking. The plumber arrived promptly and attempted to fix the leak. We were charged nearly £300. He did mention it was a struggle to get it done due to location. 7 days or so later we noticed the floor being wet. We called the company who could not sent someone same day and we waited 24h for someone else to come. They confirmed that leak was die to bolt not screwed properly. We suffered as a consequence of water damage to skittering board, walls with mould, and probable need to replace flooring. All because the first plumber could not finish the job properly.

I have called upon No1PHD Many times over the last few years both for myself , and for other members of my family. I found them very reliable and Professional. James first attended an emergency call-out when the Boiler failed over the Christmas holiday period, and he has dealt with multiple different situations for me and my family ever since.

Apparently an "emergency" company but when asked if they could come out in an event of an emergency was told they wouldn't come out this late and next available date was next week

I recently have had a soak away disaster within weeks of moving into my new house. I didn’t know who to call so I called No1phd from an online search. Im always a little worried at calling people I don’t know but I needn’t have worried. An engineer came the next day, had a look and explained what needed doing. I was horrified initially. Anyway their senior engineer came and begun the works. I was so stressed about the whole thing but everything was explained to me whilst the work continued. They have done a great job and I still have peace of mind with the lifetime guarantee. Their customer service was amazing and so helpful. Thank you! I would definitely use them again.
