I have been a free plan user of Mega.nz for over 10 years on Linux and Windows for my home needs.
I am very satisfied with their service that gives me 50 GB of cloud storage, making my files available across all the devices (mobile, laptop, and gaming PC). Their paid plans are well above my requirements, so upgrading won't justify costs; otherwise, I would love to support this business.
One suggestion for the Mega.nz team: consider offering bundle plans, probably MS-Office 365 or an LLM service like Gemini/Claude/OpenAI, and I'll be happy to subscribe to such a bundled plan.
Best wishes for the Megz.nz team, and I can't thank them enough for providing me free services for over a decade.

Been a client for several years now. At the beginning everything worked fine and I was quite happy with the service. For at least a year now, though, it became gradually harder to connect to their server with their iOS app, and from a web browser. The sync seemed to be operational, but when I was trying to open the web or mobile app, I was just getting timeouts. At first I suspected that they were filtering my VPN, but I had same experience through direct Internet connection.
Their support was absolutely unsupportive, pasting some template responses in the spirit of "have you tried turning it off and on again".
Now that I decided to cancel my subscription, it turns out that it's not an easy task. In my mobile app, it was really hard to reach the Cancel subscription button because the app kept hijacking my efforts by showing the dreaded reconnecting... screen and I needed to kill it and start over. Eventually I managed to go there i tap the button, and then another obstacle appeared - they insisted that I need to do it from the web browser "because I have had created my subscription there" (what a madness, ffs!). But every time i opened MEGA in the phone browser, on Login it kept switching unconditionally to the app.
Now, on my computer, I've been met by another issue - the Cancel subscription option is nowhere to be seen where the instruction that I got on the phone instructed me to look. Eventually, after clicking around, I found it, but... every click triggers some dreaded gray circle indicator, and it's slow, and particularly when I click on cancel subscription, the circle never goes away.
It seems that MEGA are very friendly when you are about to pay, but absolutely disastrous when it comes to support and, God forbid, cancelling subscription.
The only reward now is that I actually feel victorious after managing against all odds to cancel my contract with this ridiculous service.
P.S. Failed to cancel my subscription in time, and although I cancelled it within an hour after they took money out of my card, they declined my request for a refund. A user-friendly business would never charge a dissatisfied customer for a service they didn't want and didn't use. Don't go there, MEGA has become one of those companies that only look out to take your money and don't care about the service you're getting.
P.P.S.
Contacted MEGA directly (earlier attempts were aimed at cancelling the payment in Revolut, which failed), and here is the response:
"You have been warned about auto-rebilling when you subscribed to the plan". SO, FOLKS, BE WARNED!

It is my sync system for a long time. REcently I got some problems after an update of my operating system and the support teams helped me a lot to solve the issue, that was not actually related to their application.

Just like all shady businesses, they try to look great at first. But eventually, their products and services start to deteriorate in quality. MEGA is no exception. At first, it had fast loading. Its users wouldn't have their accounts deleted like crazy. Now, that's no longer the case. Their accounts get unreasonably deleted, the webpage loading has started to lag, and customer support service became unhelpful. I would warn people to avoid using MEGA like the plague now. You're better off using torrents and torrent websites at this point.

I accidentally deleted an important folder while I was still a free user (even from the Rubbish Bin). When I contacted MEGA support, they replied within 24 hours and explained that I could try the Rewind feature, which is available for paid users. I upgraded my account and tried, but unfortunately, I couldn’t restore it since the folder had been deleted shortly after uploading (about half an hour later).
I reached out to support again, and even though recovery wasn’t guaranteed, they went the extra mile and restored my folder from their end. I’m really grateful for their quick response and helpful assistance. Excellent support!

They just deleted all my files that I’d been collecting for years, including all my photo albums, simply because I didn’t upgrade to a pro plan. Take my advice: you’re better off using Google Drive than dealing with this scam.

The costumer support desk responded at lightening speed, and was not only very helpful, but also considerate and kind. Additionally, the generous free storage space and encrypted transfer and file storage settings are a relief. An absolute go to when it comes to cloud storage!

Mega app storage feels like a complete scam. At first, they offer free storage to gain people’s trust. Once users upload important files and data, they suddenly pressure them to buy a paid plan if they want to keep using the storage. The worst part is that they even delete all files from the free storage, leaving users with no choice but to pay.
