Karikuy was a great choice for Salkantay trail. All went well and we had an amazing time.
As they hire another company to actually guide this tour, there were some not included expenses.

We had an absolutely amazing adventure in Peru thanks to Karikuy Tours! They put together an incredible itinerary and lined up the best guides and experiences for us. Highlights included a fantastic cooking class in Lima, exploring the wonder of Machu Picchu, and visiting a traditional textile workshop in Chinchero. The transportation was excellent and always on time, and everyone we met along the way was so friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to Julio, who was always just a WhatsApp message away to answer questions or address any concerns. Highly recommend Karikuy for a seamless, memorable Peru trip!

I highly recommend Karikuy for your Peru vacation. Working with Karikuy was great. I could echo most of the other reviews. From the initial contact, Karikuy set the bar high that event the slightest misstep seemed glaring. I worked with Karikuy to plan a 10 trip with my daughter. They totally EXCEEDED my expectations. The internal transfers and drivers made this trip worry-free. I can’t emphasize enough the value this had on our trip. Below are highlights of working with Karikuy. If I could, I would use Karikuy for every future vacation.

ITINERARY: I only gave Karaikuy a limited number of places we wanted to see, our dates, and rough budget. They provided us with an activity packed itinerary with our requested tours and other things I would never have thought. They were very accommodating with changes to prior to booking as well as adding additional activities afterward. With our itinerary, we had several early or long days, but that was my doing. In any case, this was a fantastic trip.

COMMUNICATION: They were very prompt replying to emails and for texts, within seconds or minutes (using WhatsApp). They always stayed connected until any situation was resolved.

TRANSFERS & DRIVERS: All the transfers and drivers were excellent. It was great being greeted in a timely manner and shuttled to each venue. The drivers were friendly, courteous and as safe as one could be in Peru 😮. Although I enjoy making my own personal arrangements, the transfers coordinated by Karikuy made our trip hassle and worry free and why I wouldn’t do a trip like this on my own.

LODGING: Karikuy offers different levels of accommodation. We chose the 2–3 star option for our budget. All were basic and simple, but more than satisfactory for our adventure.

Julio knew all there was to know on how to get Machu Picchu tickets! Super helpful!

We booked our tour in November 2019.
Covid happened.
Peru shutdown along with many other countries around the world.
We requested a refund and were told we would receive a full refund once the tourism industry started up again within Peru.
This took years but once it did re-open we requested our refund again Karikuy declined to do so blaming Paypal for stealing the money and therefore not being able to make the refund!
Obviously, there is a theme here. I don't believe Karikuy ever had any intentions to refund our $1,690.
There is another review on this site which says the exact same thing as I have explained here.
The individual has requested a refund and Karikuy feed a load of rubbish excuses thinking we will believe them. We, don't believe you and know your true intentions are to take advantage of your customers (who are thousands of miles away) when you can.

Thank you for your original reply which I have pictures of. In that response you do rather quite beautifully accept and acknowledge that you did in fact DELIBERATELY take advantage of us using covid as the excuse. You obviously then took a few days to reflect and thought better of this response....gotcha!

It is a real shame Trustpilot don't allow pictures as I could share your original response AND I could share the emails I have from Karikuy promising me that I will get a full refund. Instead I will share an email sent from Karikuy on the 20/01/2021 which is word for word.

A truly dishonest company who still have the worst morals I have ever known. STAY WELL AWAY!!!!!

Karikuy created a ten day tailored trip experience for us, from hotel bookings, tickets for historical sites and plane/train bookings. They took care of all the bookings, planning and executed it to perfection. We are a family of five and Karikuy took care of all logitics. We had guides at every pickup location (Lima, Cusco, SV, MP, Puno) waiting for us and they gave us detailed instructions for the next part/day of our trip. Doing this trip all by ourselves would have been extremely difficult especially with the entire family. I would 100% recommend Karikuy for anyone looking to do a Peru trip with family. They do an excellent job taking care of your needs. Special thanks to our Lima and Cusco tour guides - Leonardo and Oscar. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Peru.

I was referred to Karikuy Tours by someone I randomly met, and it turned out to be one of the best travel decisions I've ever made. Peru had been on my bucket list for years, and as a solo female traveler, I had some apprehensions about planning a trip to a foreign country where I knew no one. The person who recommended Karikuy Tours spoke so highly of them that I decided to reach out and start planning.

From the very beginning, Julio was nothing short of amazing. He was incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that every detail of my trip was perfectly arranged. I was traveling for three weeks, and in the middle of my trip, I wanted the flexibility to explore on my own and make my own arrangements. Julio expertly planned the first and third weeks of my journey down to the last detail. His suggestions were spot on, even though I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to experience at first.

Despite only having a month to prepare, everything came together seamlessly. Once I arrived in Peru, knowing that I had someone reliable to contact if anything came up was so reassuring. I was picked up from my hotel and taken to each location throughout the country, and I traveled all over Peru! Every aspect of the itinerary was executed exactly as promised.

There were times when I needed to reach out to Julio after hours, and he always responded promptly. I've traveled to many different countries, but Peru stands out at the top of my list, largely due to the minimal stress I had during the planning process. Karikuy Tours took care of everything, allowing me to fully enjoy my trip without any worries.

It was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I would 100% recommend Karikuy Tours to family and friends!

We did the 4-day Salkantay Trek with Karikuy Tours and saw the most beautiful scenery on the way to Machu Picchu. The change in landscape from one day to the next was extraordinary and made you forget about the challenging parts of the hike. The guides, chefs and rest of the team were all very professional and made the trek as easy as possible for us. We would definitely recommend this trek to anyone, it will be worth it! Visiting Mach Picchu on the last day was such a life-changing experience and something we would treasure forever.

Worst tour ever! Handed off to multiple different subcontractors who have no idea what’s going on; awful hotel; packed tour bus with barely functioning air conditioning and English as an afterthought for the guides, never again with this company!

I had a wonderful time with Karikuy Tour. The transfers, the professional guides, the professional drivers were very nice and on time. In general, the Tour was well organized.

We had wonderful time there. We had zip lining, rafting, hiking and…that all were great

The Inca trail is in the top three hikes I’ve ever done and that’s saying a lot as I’m a very avid hiker. Our guide (Filipe) was super knowledgeable, friendly and responsible. He took care of us very well and managed a rather diverse group of hikers with very little to a lot of experience. The porters were amazing and went above and beyond, carrying massive loads and preparing amazing meals each day. The only recommendation I can make is that the camping gear is not the best so bring a sleeping mat and warm sleeping bag as it gets very cold at night.

If you are wanting to see Manchu Pichhu then this is the best way as the journey is more than the destination.

We requested a very last minute tour and Karikuy came through for the win! Due to flight delays and missed connections we arrived too late to meet our original tour (with another company) but Karikuy stepped in and made it happen! Our guide was awesome!

I brought a group of students to Cusco for study abroad and Karikuy provided all our tour services. Oscar does a beautiful job of coordinating each outing, providing prompt and accurate information. Guides and buses are punctual. When a misunderstanding occurred regarding our tickets to Machu Picchu, Oscar stayed up late, securing a satisfactory last-minute change so that we were able to see the site as we had originally planned. He takes his job seriously and wants everything to be right. As for the guides, we had two different styles. For Sacred Valley and our City Tour, Guillermo went beyond what was required to gives us a full experience. We never felt rushed for time. He answered all our questions with the greatest enthusiasm, and his passion for the sites was infectious and endearing. Julio Cesar, our Machu Picchu guide, was as knowledgeable and eloquent as any university professor. His deep study of the history and architecture of Machu Picchu provided the best tour I'd been given in my eight separate visits to the Inca city. He is unusual in the breadth and analysis he offers, bringing alive the ruins with his account. Our Inti Raymi guide was more offhand, a bit less invested. But the trip to Sacsayhuaman was nonetheless marvelous and the food and bus provided both excellent. I plan to return to Peru next year to do another long hike and without a doubt, I will contract the services of Karikuy, because I know they can be counted on.

Karikuy organized a perfect tour from Cusco through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu and back, was extremely available and clear in communication both on their website chat and in WhatsApp, and staff and tour guides were friendly and went above and beyond to personally escort me to each check in point or give clear instructions to get there. I felt like I was being taken care of by family.

We booked a 4 day trekking and camping on the Inca Trail through Karikuy Tours. Karikuy Tours was excellent from the very beginning to the very end. Julio, who organized the trip for us, was very responsive to all our needs and was able to answer every question and concern we had. He provided us with all the information and details for our trek. He even organized a driver to pick and drop us off to and from the airport. The driver was very polite and professional.

The Inca trail was an incredible experience with stunning views. We were fortunate to have the best tour guide, Hector. Hector has expansive and in-depth knowledge of the Inca's, Peruvian culture and plants. I learned so much from him in those 4 days. He's very excited to share his culture and on top of that he was so much fun! I highly recommend everyone to request Hector as a guide, you will NOT be disappointed! Our porters were very polite and cooked delicious food for us. It was such a treat getting to know them.

I have been on adventure guided trips/hunts from the Arctic Circle to Argentina for the past forty+ years. Trips too numerous to count. Trips that promise the moon but eventually fall way short. My most recent trip with Karikuy Tours, Lima, Peru was the most efficient, well organized and pleasant trips I have ever experienced from an outfitter. From the moment I inquired about the Inca Trail, they were constantly in contact with me. Once, I pulled the trigger and paid for the trip, the communication remained constant and accessible. The simplest of questions were answered just as swiftly as the major concerns. Questions that concerned my traveling from the US to Peru, really not Karikuy’s problem, they helped me every step of the way including Covid-19 testing. Julio Tello was literally accessible 24 hours a day and I never felt I was a burden. A trip of this nature involved several different types of transportation; and the transition between each was seamless. All Hotel accommodations in two different Peru cities were accommodated without the slightest hitch. Believe me, when in a foreign country with limited language ability, this is huge. One of our party’s luggage was lost on the airlines and Julio jumped right in to resolve the situation.

My trip, the Four Day Inca Trail hike, was led by a most capable and knowledgeable guide, Hector Cconochuillca (not sure of spelling), accompanied by a team of porters who treated us as royalty. The food was exceptional. Never did I want for anything. Hector balanced everything between obtaining our objective, but not making us uncomfortable. It was a perfect combination to experience this beautiful part of the world. His knowledge and passion were amazing. I highly recommend him.

As an experienced adventure tour person, one who has led and outfitted my own in the US, I, without reservation, highly recommend Karikuy Tours.

I was always accompanied by a guide. The guides showed a wide knowledge of the places, the best was Betty very professional.

Our trek was planned for last year, but due to covid it was delayed. The office was closed for a while but once they finally opened they were very helpful in allowing us to decide to rebook or get a refund (either partial or full). We decided to rebook and went a year after the original date and it was amazing! Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to encourage each and every one of us to finish the hike and ended with a beautiful coca leaf ceremony outside the entrance of Machu Picchu. It was frustrating the few months we went without answers on this trip, but we understood that they were operating under unprecedented circumstances. Would 100% book a tour with them again.
