SHARON of the Lansing office

SHARON of the Lansing, Michigan office is a liar, doesn't return calls and her boss is incompetent. SHARON likes to brag about how knowledgeable she is and how great her customer service is but my trust return was filed two months late, she lied about it and said an extension had been filed, did not return any of my phone calls and I did not get the return done until I filed a complaint with their corporate office fraud dept. I just received notice from the IRS that I owe more money because of late filing. USE THE LANSING OFFICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

First time using them and the last

First time using them and the last.
Went in the resolve a state tax issue and it wasn’t even sent in after we were told your all set. I don’t even think the form was filled out. She altered the fed 1040 that I originally sent in and her form was incorrect.
Had to go in to get it straightened out a second time was told we were good, month later got another letter from the state saying they were still waiting to receive our tax return.
Called them up and they tell us we need to send it in ourself, we were under the impression they filed it electronically, we did an electronic signature.
Not to mention a letter from the IRS wanting to making sure that there wasn’t a scam going on.
A simple issue became a stressful ordeal.

This was my first time using Ja3ckson…

This was my first time using Jackson Hewitt and it's my last.
The preparer was very friendly and I got an unexpected refund.
Here's my issue I've tried emailing her left voice mail both listed on her card never received any responses my taxes were done march 15. I chose direct deposit wasn't told about the republic bank they use regarding fees and charges.
So when I received notification it was deposited in my bank I was really happy until I realized it was $293.00 short. I tried calling republic bank automated system for questions regarding refund issues contact Jackson Hewitt, so I called the office number 4/22/25 left a voice mail what the issue is my name and number and that I really need to speak to someone about the 293.00 .
I never received a call back, irs can't do anything, now 293.00 might not be alot of money to them but it is f for me.
If I had been told about the fees from their bank I would have chosen a paper check ,after the looking into bank the prepaid card is the thing, but i wasn't given that information or option,

Incorrect tax preparation more than once

This is the second year my taxes were improperly completed by a JH preparer. This year, Oscar PTIN# P03327880 incorrectly entered
1) my occupation and purposely entered the incorrect discount code without saying anything about it.
2) I called about that, a new preparer answering the District office phone named "Brigitte" redid my taxes and said they owed me an additional $100 and I should call to be put on a list for amending their returns. When my refund was issued, I called the number 5/9/2025, an older woman said there is no "Brigitte" there and Tim Jahner was in a meeting and not taking calls. This woman did not identify herself, she does not return your call; she contacts "Nicole" who is supposed to return your call to put you on a list to amend your return, however, she does not. The woman did not give a call back time and said an Appleton office is open, however no Walmart is open even though it says they are "by appt" on the District VM. She is argumentative & gets off the call asap.
3) "Brigitte" never mentioned I would have to go to Green Bay or Waukesha to amend my taxes & to sign again for the amendment.

Per Nicole, they do not have the capability to put notes on a customer's complaint in their system. She calls and asks what is wrong on your return, but Brigitte did not tell that much. Preparer Nicole travels between Green Bay, Waukesha, and apparently Appleton by appointment only. Nicole said I could go to Green Bay, 40 miles away or Waukesha office. She did not say they are taking appointments for Appleton. She confused the call by asking me questions I would have no way of knowing, and was argumentative, so the call ended without me getting an appointment.

The $100 back offer to get the best refund JH offered online Nicole knew nothing about. Technically, I should be eligible for that along with 50% coupon I presented to "Oscar" at the time of doing my taxes. Was I charged a "direct deposit fee" to get my refund? I don't know, I had no opportunity to ask.

I have business in the Waukesha area soon on another matter, so making the appt there does make sense for me, if Nicole could just listen rather than try to get her own way. She has not returned my call to schedule an amend appt. She never mentioned what the District VM says they are available in Appleton "by appointment only".

The last time JH made mistakes on my return they took accountability, it would be more appropriate they continue to do that. Perhaps the BBB needs to be involved because this is very unprofessional behavior.

I would not go to Delavan Jackson…

I would not go to Delavan Jackson Hewitt for your taxes! Especially if you look like a minority. The woman looked at me up and down and asked me if I have a Social Security number? Because we don’t do Itenn numbers… I said I do have a SSN. I felt discriminated and stood up left. What a waste of my time.

DONT USE THEM, they rip you off and charge you all these additional cost and it only took 45 min. To do and I put it all together. I’m 87 and felt so cheated.

Jackson Hewitt is the worst tax company…

Jackson Hewitt is the worst tax company I have ever dealt with they way over charge for their incompetent accountants. They offer a first time customer charge of 149 but then push your taxes out beyond the March 31 deadline...even though you went priro to that date...so they can charge you over $560 to have your taxes done'...probably incorrectly...do your self a favor and stay away from this company!!!!! They are scammer and thieves!! And do not have competent accountants!!!

Don’t use Jackson Hewitt ever

I use Jackson Hewitt tax service to file my 2023 taxes and I will never use them again-They charged me $250 for sticking money in my bank account when they said if you have a bank account that it will not be a charge-they constantly even though I’ve told them I refused to use them ever again. I don’t suggest using them. I was supposed to get back $1800 by the time they filed my taxes. I only got back $100 because the rest of it was hidden fees and all other crap. I don’t recommend using them ever.

Terrible customer service AND incorrectly filed.

Although their site is somewhat easy to use, if there is any information from a previous year, you have to make sure you track it fully yourself, and don't rely on any help from their customer assistance. I had an issue accessing my depreciation schedule from the previous year. Customer service only ever said "look harder," which lead me to realize that not only was the information I needed inaccessible, but they told me to look at a specific form from my taxes that THEY DID NOT FILE. This means either they are deliberately telling me incorrect information to get me to stop asking for assistance OR they committed tax fraud on my behalf. Either way, they are not answering my questions any more.
The last person I tried to "chat" with disconnected the chat when I asked if they could access my file to see the previous emails or if I needed to go over it again.
If you run your own small business, STAY AWAY.

Incompetent Staff and and Incorrect Preparation

I first used Jackson Hewitt three years ago when my CPA retired. I was pleased with their service and pricing. Last year, I noticed a decline in the service provided but my taxes were prepared accurately and in a timely fashion. This year was a disaster! I was told that I owed $11,000 which was my estimate. When I went to the office it was $22,000. Totally WRONG !!!

Price guarantee that is not honored

I needed a new CPA or tax filing resource to help me with my taxes this year as the CPA who did my returns last year is no longer in business. I was looking for alternatives and noticed that Jackson Hewitt would do it for only $149 for new customers. They have boldly announced "NO HIDDEN FEES". I was skeptical about the pricing but they assured me that it is accurate. I submitted my paperwork in one of the stores, the next day I got a call that they would not honor the price and that I should go to another store. When I called the other store, they told me that they would not honor the price as it would mean giving me a discount of $550. When I went to collect my paperwork from the first store, she informed me the store in the local Walmart would honor the price. When I called this 3rd store, she agreed to do it for $149. After dropping off the paperwork, she called me to inform me that her boss declined to honor the price.

I strongly advise against using Jackson…

I strongly advise against using Jackson Hewitt for tax preparation. After seeing their $149 deal, I booked an appointment for peace of mind. I only needed to file a W-2, 1099s, and a 1098 mortgage interest form. The tax "pro" was friendly but made multiple errors, claiming I owed thousands more in taxes than I did. I was shocked when their service fee was $506, which is what a CPA would charge.

My return was rejected by the IRS because he entered the wrong last four digits of my Social Security number, which was on the W-2. When I requested a refund, I was told to wait for the owner to contact me, but I never heard back.

Now, I’m disputing the charge with my credit card company. I ended up filing online myself for free, and the IRS accepted it immediately.

Promo Price Not Honored

I received a promotional email from Jackson Hewitt to get your taxes done for $150. I set up an appointment by clicking the link in the email. After a two-hour appointment, they told me their service will cost $744. When I brought up the promo email, they told me that's a corporate thing and they're a franchise. Afterward, I called corporate, and they told me I needed to speak to the franchise manager. When I called the franchise manager, she said that's a corporate promotion. This is fraudulent.

Side note: it's not like we got an incredible return and they charged a percentage. We actually owed money. As if taxes/tax season isn't hard enough, now you have a company taking advantage of people. This isn't fair.

Jackson Hewitt has good tax preparation…

Jackson Hewitt has good tax preparation advisors however they are charging way too much money for tax preparation. Why am I paying you $617 just to type in some information. It’s as if we’re asking them to do a whole lot as of next year I’m going to be starting to file my own taxes. I think it’s something that’s very much so doable rather than losing so much extra money in the beginning of the year.
