Worst Credit Card Experience in the U.S.

So far, this bank has been my worst credit card experience in the U.S.

First, the bank is misleading, pretending to be Capital One — a respected bank with transparent terms.
Second, I received a pre-approval email, which makes me seriously suspect that they obtained my personal data from the dark web.
Third, when I applied for the credit card online (I honestly thought it was Capital One, not Credit One), there was absolutely no clear mention of the $75 annual fee — I only found out about it later.
Finally, the cashback terms are extremely poor.

I will be closing my card and will not recommend this bank to anyone.

They way you treat long standing card holders

Well, I have had this card for 5 years, I was paying off my balance, but it changed my payment to a lesser amount than what I was paying which left me a Balance, it did this twice. I've had one increase in 5 years, but my wife applied last year and was given a higher limit than mine and when I asked they could not explain why my limit could not/was not increased annually, but they make sure they take the member fee ahead of time even if it puts you over the limit than they charge you a fee for being over but my problem is I made a payment when to the same market i have for years, they declined the charge and then blocked my card saying they needed to verify my identity. I sent the info they told my license but the bills I sent they would not verify it saying things like it was Bogus or not what except if through I sent my gas, electric and cable, then was told cable bill could only be for internet service. Wow. Every time you send a document the start everything over on the 7 to 10 days bull. it has been over a month since they block my acct and I had to change a reservation that was on the card, some autopay's because I try to control who gets my debit card info, but they don't care. I finally sent the document a gain with the acct manager on the phone so he could verify receipt of the document and that it met their requirements and yet I am still waiting. All of this started on the 4th of August, and we are into the 1st week of September 2025 and still no resolution to the problem they created. And don't let me get started on the out of the country call center.

They lied to the creditors

They lied to the creditors. And they lied to the lawyers. The last time I got the bill from them in 2016. After that, I didn’t know when it was due till 2018. They decided to take me to court. They hired the law firm to sue me. They lied! I require the money back that I paid for no reason. Their fault. Not my fault!

So I got the Credit One Credit card for a trip. During my trip what I spent i made a payment and it sat there. So I called and was told I had to wait 4 days. So basically I could not use the card until I returned home. The payment was already out of my checking but was still pending on their side. So this card is a waste of time DONT BOTHER WITH IT. as soon as I get home in 3 days I will finish paying it off and canceling it. 3 more days, at least I have a debit card.

What didn't go wrong? Nothing went right.

What went wrong? Lol! What went right? So I was approved for this card I had the card for about 5 weeks it was for emergencies only. When the emergency arose or the need arose to use the card I went to use it to get a ride where I was kind of stuck. I was told I had to verify things I had to send in three different types of documents to verify who I was in this and that. I did not have to give three types of documents to get $130,000 mortgage I also didn't have to give three documents to get a car loan for $30,000. It's outrageous and outlandish did this company would expect someone after they were approved for the card and have the cards are hand for 5 weeks to verify who they were for no reason at all none zero nothing was fraudulent nothing was suspicious I am who I say I am and they verify that whenever I put in the application and they approve me. Upon calling to complain the customer service I was explained all of this things that I just mentioned here and I asked them what the policy was and they couldn't give me a clear answer. They didn't care that I was stuck they didn't care that I was a card holder they didn't care that I had available credit they didn't want to hear anything. I told him to close the account immediately and if there's any fees charge my account for like an annual fee which there wasn't supposed to be did they need to be refunded and I want to have proof in the mail the car was closed. These things didn't happen it's now on my credit report and I'm fighting to get it off of my credit report the 90 plus day late fees for the annual fee which wasn't charged until after this phone call was made. If you need help building your credit I would not recommend this place I would probably rather take my chances with the local loan shark or payday loan place or just deal with a circumstances and not have what I'm looking to get because I would I would not put anyone through or expect anyone to go through what I went through when you have a credit card for emergencies and when an emergency arrest you cannot use it ridiculous and this is a credit card a bank that is run by Capital One pathetic do not use this car do not apply for this car do not do business with credit One Bank!!!

Only if you have no other options

I had an American Express and a Visa through them for a few years and used the cards regularly paying them off at EOM every month. Suddenly, the amex is locked, so I called and spoke to Jim (I know your name is really Ramesh) and he said I needed to upload a picture of my ID which I did. Two weeks later both accounts are closed and no reason was given. Talk about bad business. I pay them their fees and the card balances like clockwork and suddenly, they shut me down. Other than this the cards constantly have fraud alerts and are generally just a pain in the a--, but that is what people have to put up with to build credit. Unfortunately, these closures will hurt my report as I have excellent credit now, but keep these open just to keep my average account age up on my bureaus.

Poor Customer Care Team

I called credit one to ask what payment issues could lead to my account being closed. The fro t line rep was not knowledgeable and confirmed the supervisor i requested would not have any more answers. The supervisor Sophie was also not knowledgeable. She just through random scripts and suggestions never answering my question. When I asked where to find the information the human staff could not provide, she directed me to online portal and term I agreed to... I asked if she knows I will find the answers in my documents, or is she just telling me things, the call ended and I got no call back. Poor customer service team who obviously lack the tools to provide simple answers.

My experience with Credit One Bank has…

My experience with Credit One Bank has been frustrating, to say the least. I’ve received multiple phone calls throughout the day, minimum of 25 calls from Spanish-speaking representatives, and hanging up by the representatives, despite not speaking Spanish or requesting communication in that language. I have called the main number for credit one bank and even selected English, routes a Spanish speaking individual. I have asked for an account manager and instantly hung up on.It’s disruptive and feels careless on their part, especially since I’ve tried to clarify my language preference.

All I wanted to do was cancel my card. There is no easy way to do this. I’d never even used the card and had to try all options on their automated menu until I got a human in the phone. I believe I pressed 7 to “report a lost or stolen card” and finally got someone who could help. Shit bank with equally shitty customer service. Shame shame shame.

Stay away from this company

Stay away from this company. After been approved for 1000. dollars they have locked my account because they needed more documents. I sent everything they had asking for and every time I called them there is something else they need to review it witch it takes them up to 10 days. So far they have taken $95.00 dollars for yearly fee and I still can not use the credit card. They are taking advantage of people with low fico scores. They are thieves and they should not be in the list of credit cards to help you build back your credit.
