They auto enrolled me for renewal and mow costing me $143. They wouldn’t cancel until next year (so basically i am paying for one full year) even after cancelling. I tried to dispute the charge, didn’t help. CourseHero went from legitimate company to SCAM.

Was charged the renewal fee of $200 and then they locked me out of my account after the charge was disputed with PayPal. I didn't even have access to my account, yet they still charged me, and now I'm paying $200 for nothing because they blocked any further account access. Nothing but scammers!

I wish there would be an option of "ZERO *". Super expensive app for study. Deducted 200+ CAD as a annual fee but didn't give an access even a month. The worst source of study in terms of their financial packages. Will never ever recommend this.

Bait and Switch

They had some files that mattered for a project I am working on. They stated if I signed in, I could get them.

I signed in. I have to pay 150 bucks for a membership.

This was NOT indicated AT ALL.

I'm giving them a 1-star (they shouldn't deserve any) for one that when you pay for a subscription and is the most expensive one that they offer then they should give you access to all of the documents therefore, they want you pay additonal fees to access the full documents I don't think its damn fare and I have been cancelled my subscription a month ago. Then they automatically took my card money without me knowing it. So I asked for a refund, and they refused to give it to me, so do not get a subscription with Course Hero; they are a total rip-off.

Scamers they charge you without your consent.

Had my account terminated for apparent actions i didn’t even commit. Don’t waste your money on this trash platform.

I don't understand after you paid, they let you in and see some sample post, then another layer of payment is asked. So disatisfying.So frustrating! Will never reccommend at all!

Course hero is a fraud website they deducted annual fee $183 after two years of cancellation .
And after requesting they deducting for one month.

Terrible service, scammers level. You can upload a many documents, but don’t receive a credits, what is promised. Then you spent your time for connecting, and receive advice - wait, please. After 10 days nothing happened and all from start… Dont left your time !

Accidentally ordered a year ago. Never used the service yet was still charged $143.40 even tho they have a “money back Guarantee”. I get an Email a year later (today June 10th 2025) saying my Annual Subscription is about to renew. WTF. I call to cancel once again and the lady needs All kinds of ridiculous information the last 4 numbers on the card I used, my Venmo username etc. BAD Customer service!! Especially for a service was was NEVER used 👎🏻 👎🏻

Unfair Refund Policy & Poor Customer Support

UPDATE: I have since been logged out of my Course Hero account and can no longer access it despite still having an active subscription that I have paid for. Being locked out of my account without notice constitutes a denial of service for a paid product. Course Hero are dishonest and untrustworthy.

I subscribed to Course Hero expecting a helpful academic resource, but was extremely disappointed. The content was not what I expected, and I used the service very minimally. I contacted Course Hero to request a refund, believing I qualified under their own Money Back Guarantee due to limited use — but I received no response until after I escalated the issue through my payment provider.
When they finally replied, they refused the refund, claiming that viewing even a few documents voids any eligibility — regardless of whether the service met expectations or provided value. Their policy seems deliberately rigid, and customer service was slow and unhelpful

I was a previous Course Hero tutor. However, my account was deactivated but I still have earnings to withdraw. Upon trying to withdraw, it always says my number is not verified. I tried to reach them via email and Facebook for almost 3 years now, but i didn't receive any response from their end. Did anyone experience this? This is very frustrating.

After losing my son last year, I’ve had to deal with many painful responsibilities. One of the most infuriating has been with Course Hero, a company that continued to charge my credit card for a subscription my deceased son signed up for the year before his passing.

I notified Course Hero that he had died, provided documentation, and expected any decent company to stop the charges and refund what had been taken. Instead, they refused. Their customer service representatives have not only been unhelpful but also dishonest, giving me conflicting information and failing to take basic human decency into account.

This isn’t just about money—this is about principle. They are knowingly profiting from a grieving parent, charging for a service that is clearly not being used, and refusing to act with integrity. I’ve had no choice but to hire a lawyer to hold them accountable.

There are much better alternatives out there. If you’re looking for homework help, tutoring, or research support, I strongly recommend using AI platforms like ChatGPT or other ethical services that actually care about their users.

Course Hero has proven to be heartless, dishonest, and exploitative. I hope this review prevents others from going through what I have. Read the other reviews as well.

Buyer beware!

This company is a scam. My daughter graduated 18 months ago. She never renewed but they hit my credit card anyway in 2024. I canceled the annual subscription after many calls. I was promised that they would not charge me again in 2025. However , they did charge again and still refuse to cancel the charge. This is a nightmare fraud company!!!

0 star, if I could. Super scummy. when I upload 10 docs, it resets to "upload 10 docs for 5 unlocks" giving me a whooping 0 unlock for 10 uploads. This has happened twice so far. I know this is not a bug, this is just how they operate, someone from America needs to sue every dollar out of them for this and every other unethical practices including false advertisement.

Unfair Account Deletion & Unpaid Earnings – Beware!

I worked for Course Hero for several weeks, putting in time and effort to earn money on their platform. However, they suddenly deleted my account, falsely accusing me of using a VPN—which I never did. I explained my situation multiple times, but they ignored my responses and refused to reactivate my account.

What’s worse, they refused to pay me for the work I already completed. I spent hours answering questions, only for my hard-earned money to be taken away with no explanation. This is completely unfair and unethical.

I want to warn others—Course Hero does not treat its workers fairly. If you’re planning to work with them, be aware that they can delete your account at any time and keep your earnings with no recourse. I hope they take responsibility and pay me what I rightfully earned!

Terrible company, they have abusive consumer policies and unethical business practices. They seek to profit from their customer above all. They will charge you for undelivered services ahead of time and will not aim to help their customers. Avoid @ all cost.
