Apress: Python Unit Test Automation

As there is no way of writing reviews directly on the books at Apress(Springer) I add it here.
I bought the Python Unit Test Automation book by Ashwin Pajankar. This is an update to an earlier revision. And a very badly done update.
60% of the book is used on outdated subjects. A long chapter is used on the "nose" framework. The problem is that nose is not supported any more and outdated. And it was already outdated at Python 3.9.
"nose2# that is fully supported get 1, one page!
This is book not worth the money. Note even on sale.

Worst support experience in recent memory

Took 5 months to deliver my order - it was one of those 'print as needed' things so I knew it would be long. Apparently there was also an issue with the print once they. All that would be fine, but once they actually started to ship the replacements, they also tried to charge me for them. I sent out 20ish email to support, where different people answered in various confusing ways until it was finally resolved to be their mistake rather than mine. I definitely felt like none of the agents bothered to read the support history in the ticket at any point the 'help' I was getting was never what was needed, or they were making a point that had been established earlier. Will never order from here again knowing that in case of problems, you'll be SOL.

Long term customer of books about software

I've been a customer of Apress for many years. The transactions can be easily completed using the web site. I usually like to look through the Table of Contents of a book and, if possible, read about 10 pages of the book to get a feel of whether the book topic interests me and if I like the author's writing style. Over the years, Apress has made this more difficult. In particular, I compare this to the Manning site - which I find to be even more helpful. I still buy an occasional book at Apress and I am generally satisfied with those purchases.

I bought 'Beginning C++ 20' direct from…

I bought 'Beginning C++ 20' direct from Apress. The book arrived with scratches and scuff marks on the cover, this could have happened in transit. The real problem was the quality of the text in the book. Much of it was so faint that it was illegible. In particular this followed '//' comment marks in the code, I have other books from this company which are ok so maybe I was just unlucky with this one..

Pretty Good Site and Products, but Could be Better.

For the most part, I'm fairly happy with Apress! They have pretty good coverage for most of the tech topics I'm interested in, and even a couple of authors whose books I buy as a given, every year. I would love to see some deep dives into topics like real-word redux, and full-stack JavaScript and DevOps projects with non-trivial examples that are not just regurgitations of online documentation.

Got resolved: Extremelly annoyed with the handling of…

UPDATE:
After giving the negative review Apress has finally sent me the required invoice. So I update the score from 1* to 3*.
Dear Apress. Dont know if other people are in my shoe, but my situation is, that I have to pre-finance the books I am buying but can bill my employer by providing the invoice for a pre-defined yearly allowance. Thus for me its very important, that receiving the invoice is automatic and hassle free (and I dont get a lot of spam in the process) more important then for example relative price difference comapred to some other provider.

Extremelly annoyed with the handling of my order. I bought both paper and eBook version of the same book.

I received a ****load of emails about my order about delivery, then invoices with 0 values, invoices with actual values and about their latest discounts.

What I have not received is any invoice covering the eBook part of the order (half of the amount I payed). Now I am in a process emailing with them about it.
