Review of British Airways
BA expects you to pitch at the airport in good time but isn’t ready for you. I arrived 2 hours before a 06:10 flight and waited 20 minutes for check in to open. Lounges weren’t open. Like most airlines BA doesn’t give a hoot.
Review of Lufthansa
This airline has fallen a long way. I flew Johannesburg to Birmingham Business Class via Frankfurt recently. At check in they took my carry on away from me. The same carry on that accompanied me to Senator status with Lufthansa. Their lounge was packed and the bar was so busy it was near impossible to get even a soft drink. The food offering was distinctly average. Onboard was ok, no amenity kit though. I didn’t have dinner but breakfast was ok. Frankfurt was a complete sh1tshow, I queued 50 minutes for passports only to find the gate had changed and I had to then leave that part of the airport to get on a bus. Although things like immigration are not Lufthansa’s responsibility, it is their home airport. Most unlikely to repeat. It’s a real shame, used to be a good airline.
