This company is in Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I just got a letter today saying I won’t get my money back. Yet the website is still up and they are apparently still selling bikes. Don’t order!!

This review is about the ordering process. I have yet to receive the bicycle and will leave an additional review once I've received it. When I ordered the custom bike on July 21, 2025, it was very hard to find out what the delivery timeline was. I called the company was was told "about a month". I ordered based on that information. Later, when I was able to check my order status, it said delivery between August 18-Sept 1. Great. Well, on August 29 I called them as my order status had not changed at all. I was told "it was a busy time" and the order will be later. When I asked for clarification (I live in the city and use a bike as my primary mode of transportation, so even a month is a very long time) I was told "middle of September". They offered me a water bottle holder to make up for the delay. I wasn't happy, but if it was two more weeks I could make it work. On September 8th, I called again as my order status had again not even shifted to them painting the bike. I asked if I could cancel the order and I was told no, it was already in painting. They had no explanation for why the website still said it hadn't been painted, but I couldn't cancel it. I asked for an updated timeframe and they said "two more weeks" which is what I was told last time. I asked to speak to a manager. No manager was available. I asked them to have one call me and she said someone would call me "soon". I asked what "soon" meant, and she said a couple of hours. That was two days ago and I've heard nothing, but right after I hung up the phone I got an email saying that my bike was being painted. So, best case scenario, they are just swamped and the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Worst case scenario, I'm never getting this bike and because it's custom, won't be able to cancel it. In the meantime, I've been renting Citibikes to get around and I'm feeling very unappreciated as a customer. Please be wary. Order your bike from a dealer who doesn't charge you more than a deposit and don't get a custom bike if you have any kind of timeframe. I hope when the bike arrives it will have been worth it, but for now I cannot recommend the Electric Bike Company. I tried to write this review on their website, but they don't allow customers who have ordered to write reviews. Another red flag. Be wary.
