They closed 2 of my accounts 2 and a half years ago. There was some fraud at the time and they somehow approved both cards over their limits by double the limit amount. Obviously my credit dropped severely. So much in fact, I wasn't even able to find an apartment to rent. I was stuck in a homeless shelter for over a year trying to resolve my fraud and my account balances.
I also had a stroke, followed 7 months later by a car accident. I couldn't work or walk and lost my job. I still had solid income from Army retirement.
I have had a Kohl's card for years now, they switched to Capital One and even though my account has always been in good standing, they closed it! Today I just found out. My credit dropped 31 points! Meanwhile, my lease is up in just a few months and my credit is again below the minimum amount today renew my lease. So back to a homeless shelter.
I called Capital One and couldn't understand the woman from I think India. I asked politely if I could speak to someone else and she placed me on hold for over 30 minutes. I hung up and called again. I asked why my account was closed and the lady said theirs fraud going on, so she transfered me. I had to explain everything again. Then she transfered me again. Now after talking with the new person in fraud dept. they said they closed my account due to violations on one or more of my accounts. Even though I only have 1 current account with them. Had one. OMG phone call is done and so am I. Stay away from Capital One. They will ruin your life, just like mine.
