Scammed by a Fraudulent ULEZ Payment Website – Beware!
I recently had a very frustrating experience with what I thought was the official ULEZ payment site. I paid a fee of £17.50 through a website called "Road Vehicle Gateway," which appeared in a Google search. Later, I discovered that it was a fraudulent third-party site. Despite my genuine attempt to comply with ULEZ regulations, I ended up receiving penalty charges and ultimately paid a total of £377.50. How can anyone justify that?
After receiving a penalty charge notice, I immediately provided evidence of my payment and submitted my appeal via registered mail. Unfortunately, my appeal was rejected due to what appears to be an administrative error regarding timing. Despite clear evidence of my good faith effort, I was forced to pay an additional penalty, adding to my financial distress.
I strongly urge everyone to double-check the URL and ensure you are on the official Transport for London website when paying your ULEZ fee. This scam has caused me significant financial loss, wasted valuable time, and led to unnecessary stress.
