Downside: no ability to transfer an existing server to Aternos. This is the real dealbreaker that makes me not use this service. Not making a Minecraft server I guess.

Requires a credit card to sign up. I as a non-American, have never ever needed a credit card for anything. This is really stupid. I tried using my Revolut card but they don't like it for some reason.

Charged a $150 renewal fee after our credit card expired. It was impossible to pay this fee as there was no link on the site or an email.

Would never use again if I had to.
