Review of Logitech

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The current policy lost Logitech a customer of 22 years.

I've been a loyal logitech trackball customer for over 20 years. Since 2003, when I started working at the company in which a colleague was using it.

Over those 2 decades I have stayed with logitech even during the terrible years, when the first cordless ones came out and the USB dongles would go poof after not even close to a year.

And I bought the trackballs (and ever since unifying software was available a keyboard as well) for every device I had. Desktop PC, Laptop, and even bought them privately for my work PC.

I've bought more than 10 trackballs just from one online store since 2009, didn't even look up the other store I used because I don't know the password anymore and who knows how many I bought in local stores.

So recently, another one went poof, so I was going to order a new one. And I saw the price had increased by 30% since the US tariffs had gone into effect. But I am not in the US. US imposed tariffs should not lead to higher prices in other countries. I am NOT paying for the stupidity and xenophobic hatred of the American voters, their President and his minions. Let the perpetrators pay the bill, not anyone else. This is outrageous. I am done. I am not supporting you with a single cent anymore. I just ordered my first mouse in over 20 years that wasn't from Logitech.

I tried to contact customer support through email, but there is no email on the website anymore. I started the chat, asking for an email address to write to. I tried to keep this between logitech and myself, but the chat agent was uncooperative, kept sending me walls of text and stalling for what should've been a one liner reply: "The email for the German support is soandso". She is being paid, so she has plenty of time to spare. But I don't get paid for chatting with her, so I want an answer to the point. But who knows, at this point, she was probably just following company policy. I can see how it would be logical for a company that deliberately hides their email address without even offering a contact form to advise their chat agents not to give out the email either. So if you do anything you can to avoid my feedback in private, I'll leave it here, publicly.

Hope you enjoy giving MAGA a break, because I will not give you one for that. Sure, you can choose to shift 75% of your Chinese production to the US to appease the US regime, as your CEO announced some days ago, but I am not willing to pay for that.

Enough is enough, Logitech. Your operational center may be in the US, but you're a swiss company. You are European. You are punishing your own in favor of xenophobes. And if you're not even willing to listen to feedback in private, to quote Mr. Wonderful: You're dead to me.

Lying, insatiable data krakens.

tried to join hitsquad-giveaway for citizen sleeper.

Made it look like I just had to give them my name and my email address to get the giveaway. But then I should do one more thing, the site said "Complete this to INSTANTLY Claim Your Citizen Sleeper Steam Key", and 4 ways were listed. I chose to go for the steam login option as that is literally the only option I even have an account for. Then I got "Verification Needed. Sorry! We need you to verify that you are a real person. Please log in with any of these social networks to get started:" Whatever happened to "instantly"? Which btw they wrote in all caps, that wasn't me emphasizing this word.

Well SCREW YOU VERY MUCH you lying, insatiable data krakens! Because judging by how this has gone so far, logging in with one more will not be enough, because after that it will AGAIN be "just one more", until it's "just one more" once again and again.

I am NOT creating social media accounts on platforms that I have successfully avoided since their inception and have no interest in joining!

Technical issues and no quality of life

TL;DR: Good selection in terms of shows, less attractive in terms of movies, and downright terrible streaming service in terms of technical implementation. I will only renew my sub when they work on the technical side.

Missing and screwed up keyboard navigation:

While other streaming service players offer keyboard navigation, where you can rewind or fast forward 10 seconds by clicking the left/right arrow button on the keyboard, here you can only use these functions if you move the mouse cursor over them and click them. They did integrate the spacebar to start/pause playing the video, however at the same time they bound this key to scrolling further down the page. So every time you press the spacebar the video doesn't just pause or play, but also moves one full screen height down. Which is especially silly when you want to resume playing the video, because due to the scrolling you can't see it anymore.

Terrible Subtitles:

From other streaming services I'm used to films & shows that occasionally feature other languages to have a subtitle track which only shows subtitles when a language other than english is spoken. Here, for the animated show "ark", where several other languages are spoken, there is no such subtitle track. You either get english subtitles for everything including english, or none at all.And worse than that: the subtitles are completely desynced from what is happening on screen. Sometimes the subtitles will only start 10 seconds after they started speaking another language, sometimes the subtitles will take a 10 second break, sometimes they will end way too early.

Terrible skip function:

I have noticed this issue for several media on the service. Star trek discovery and Dexter Original sin come to mind. When you click on the button that is supposed to let you skip the intro, it doesn't skip the entire intro. In the case of discovery, depending on the episode, after the skip you still had 10-20 seconds to go before the intro was actually done, in the case of dexter it was 40 seconds. And since the skip button only shows up 9 seconds into the intro, which overall lasts exactly 90 seconds, you don't even get to skip half the intro with that skip button. This is even more annoying because you need to use the mouse and need to move it to the forward button and click that to skip 10 seconds, instead of just pressing the right arrow key on your keyboard like with other streaming service players.

Constant playback errors & error messages:

Almost everytime you pause a video playback, when you come back you will get an error message shortly after resuming. I've literally had this dozens of times where I just paused the video for a short bathroom break, I came back, resumed playing the video, and not even 10 seconds in, the video playback was aborted and I got the error message.

No Sync between different devices & forgetful player:

When I watch something on the PC, and then I want to switch to my mobile phone, I have to manually remember where I was and steer to that marker in the app, because nothing is synced between devices. Btw. the PC player doesn't even remember for itself, where you stopped watching right before the player crashed once again. Start again from the beginning and search for the exact marker when the player crashed.

Lack of functionality in overviews (search results, categories, watchlist):

In order to add or remove a show/film to/from your watchlist, you have to actually open the page. Which is less comfortable than for other streaming services, where you get shown a button to add the item to your watchlist when you mouseover it in the overview. Not even when you are looking at your actual watchlist do you get a button to remove one of the items from your watchlist. You have to open each individual page.

Lack of functionality in show/movie pages:

All you get on an item's individual page is the title, the production year, a short written description, a "watch now" button, a button to add it to your list, and if it's a show, the list of episodes, and if it's a movie you get the runtime and a category.
I have come across barely a handful of pages where you could watch a trailer. If you want to know which actors or directors are involved, you need to look that up somewhere else.

Lack of customization for recommendations:

On the watchlist page, the very first row shows you recommendations. Firstly, I think this is the wrong spot for recommendations, they should only be on the home page, not on your watchlist. Second, I have no way to influence my recommendations. Once I put one Jack Black movie on my watchlist, I got recommended ALL Jack Black films. The only solution to that was to watch the movie and remove it from my watchlist. A recommendation list should give you the option to ignore a recommended item.

Newsletter für immer! Abmeldung wirkungslos.

Trustworthy vendor with confusing design & technical issues

Trustworthy vendor, got the key no issues.

But the website concept is so confusing. Not only do they have 2 currencies, but over the years, they apparently changed the names of the currencies, so in some places they refer to one of their currency by it's original name, then in other instances by its second name, and in some instances by its 3rd name. I don't know which is which. Galacoin, Galasilver, iS, Galacredit, Silvercoin and who knows how many I can't even remember at the moment. And on top of that you (kinda) even have a 3rd nameless currency which are the points that determine your user level. When I first registered, and tried to read up in the FAQ, it felt like I have to read a convoluted PhD thesis in its 1st draft just to find out what is what. I even had to google how to change the random name they assigned me at registration because that was something I didn't find on the page.
Another weird design choice is the fact that you can only SORT results, but not FILTER them. So I will definitely never browse for games there with that limitation.

Technical issues:
Also the page is the slowest key purchase page I have registered for. Not in terms of key delivery, but the actual speed of the webpage.
The webpage logs you out in rather short intervals and I haven't found a setting that would allow me to change that. It's annoying having to log in every time I come back.
Currently, the giveaway "completed to check" page doesn't work properly. I check, the titles disappear, and when I reload the page, the titles that I already checked are back. ALL OF THEM.
Oh, and remember the random user name I was assigned when registering? Just the other day, I was on a subpage where it showed up again, despite having changed it days before that.

So while there's no issue with the purchased key and its delivery, the site in my opinion needs a decent content & design cleanup to straighten things out especially concerning user names and the various currencies and a technical overhaul.

ALMOST perfect

What can I say? I've made dozens of purchases on Fanatical. And I don't keep coming back for no reason.

So in addition to competitive prices, you get fast, solution-focused & friendly customer service. Never had any issues with the keys that I redeemed so far.

The website design is clean, it doesn't have "load more" buttons which make you needlessly scroll forever but instead has actual numbered result pages, which is just quicker and cleaner. The website is fast and responsive, and you can even sort results by discount.

I can only think of 2 things they could improve:
1) Concerning the software, elearning & book bundles, of which some are relased in 2nd edition, 3rd edition and so on:
I would appreciate, if I could see the individual titles in the bundle, that are already in my purchase history when I'm on the product page.
A quick visual cue, like a red star, green square, a 30% opacity black overlay on top of the product picture or whatever on all results pages to indicate you already possess articles from that bundle would complement that product detail view very well.
As of now, I have to manually look up my purchases and compare, which is tedious.
2) Results filter & Sorting:
Instead of offering just to filter by set price ranges like <5€, etc, why not let us choose the price range ourselves?
You also have a rating system on the website, and it seems to be decently utilized by the users. So why not allow us to sort and filter results by rating? (unrated titles could be at the bottom end of the list or excluded from results)

All in all a great website to buy games from and other digital stuff as well.

Trustworthy games shop with website that could be better

This has been the 4th purchase I made on this page and the experience has been good.
All keys arrived quickly and worked with no issue.

You can pay with paypal, which is my prefered payment method.

The page is a bit slower than others for me, but it hasn't had any impact on the ordering process itself.

However, the website doesn't offer result pages 1, 2, 3...x but only a "show more results" function when browsing for games, which I don't like in general, but seems like a particularly bad decision for me if your page is slow, because when a user reloads because the page is so slow, they have to scroll down again and click "show more results" for however many times they've done that before reloading to get to the point in the results they were before.

And the available filters for browsing the store are unsatisfactory imho. They don't let me sort by discount from biggest discount to smallest or set a filter (at least discount of x %), so I'll rather browse for games on webpages where I can do that.

You automatically enter a loyalty program in which you can reach different levels and once you've reached a level you'll be AT LEAST that forever, you don't have to make any new purchases to not fall back. Although for me the offers from the loyalty program haven't paid off yet, there was just nothing there that sparked my interest.

A huge let down is that your shopping cart will lose all its contents after a very short time. I was literally still browsing the deals and checking out new games and had 4 or 5 items in my cart already, when I clicked on the cart and found that it was empty again.
I did not feel like going back and looking through all of these games again, so I did not buy anything. Do you guys not wanna sell stuff? Because this is definitely a way to discourage custsomers from buying. Sorry, for that experience I have to reduce this previous 4 star rating to a 3 star rating.

To summarize: definitely trustworthy, but UI lacking.
