I lost my debit card and reported it … updated with company retaliation
I lost my debit card and reported it as such, before I even received the new one in the mail despite them having my checking account and a different card on file, my Deferit account was "restricted" as it was "flagged" by the "banking system" and if I am me, I should contact them "immediately." IMMEDIATELY. Except, small problem, there is not an immediately for Deferit, as they "do not offer phone support" to allow for more engaging conversations via email with their "Customer Heros" and there are "no scripts." Because obviously no one uses a template in customer service when responding to an email. After more than a week, Deferit has replied, asking for the strangest forms of verification I have ever seen--and I worked in banking for decades. Red flags everywhere. Run, don't walk. I'm not providing they're strange verification request, already canceled my account, but I can't pay for anything I owe them. I should have known better.
Edit:
Following the company's response, my account was immediately restricted again, without any indication of a reason or notification. All I want is my membership fee returned as well as the "tip" with my first bill payment. Regardless, this company will destroy, your credit, and your time, with fees and retaliation, as evident by this review.
2nd Update: Company responded with compassionate resolution based on perhaps a mutual misunderstanding, real people are answering emails.
