Negligent financial Advice

Metro Group has 2 employees, a CPA and an insurance agent named Julius Lewis who sells annuities and life insurance policies. My long term best friend recommended him, and so I talked to him on the phone. I asked if there was anything that I could sell my mutual funds without causing any capital gains that I could use for retirement savings. I told him repeatedly the funds were NOT IN AN IRA, and sent him a form showing him that. Despite this, he believed they were in an IRA, but never informed of that. Going on his incorrect assumption, and without double checking with me or looking at my form OR sending me a copy of the contract that listed them as being in an IRA, he sold me an annuity. He never met with me in person, and never disclosed he was making a commission or how much it was, which are breaches of an insurance agent's duty. He also put false answers down on the contract as he never reviewed those questions, never reviewed types of annuities and how they worked. I never got a copy of the contract until 3 weeks after it was sent to my broker. Even then, I had asked repeatedly for a copy of anything Vanguard had as Vanguard fraudulently sent the annuity company $15k of my money on 8/9 and he insisted he had nothing. I got nothing until September 1. Had I seen this contract, I would have stopped the sale. Had he told me he thought my money was in an IRA, I would have stopped the sale. He even told me he heard me tell him the mutual fund sale was taxable, but did not believe me. Why would anyone use a fincial advisor so careless that does not believe their own client? And why would I want to sell my IRA to buy an annuity if I was already in a retirement vehicle? And if he thought the money was in an IRA, why didn't he open the form I had showing what the mutual funds were? And what kind of financial advisor doesn't send the client the contract to review BEFORE sending it off? This man is careless and negligent. He caused me a loss of $50000. Initially, he said he would make up the losses, but he changed his mind when he found out how high they are. Do yourself a favor and use someone else.

Review of US Mobile

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Cheap company, but overseas service is non-existent

I've been a USMobile customer for a very long time. When the service works, it is great. But if you have a problem, it totally fails. The tips on the website are useless. The service bot makes it almost impossible to reach a rep. Sometimes they can fix your problem. If it is an overseas problem, they usually can't. When they went to free esims for countries, it was almost impossible to install them. Then they switched their software so it grayed out the second esim so you could not install an esim unless you took out your Sim card. I found this by spending extended time with esim companies and Samsung. Now you get free extended roaming in certain countries. But apparently it is ONLY ONE COUNTRY, BUT THAT IS NOT STATED! I chatted with a rep that I was going to both Turkey and Egypt. He said it was no issue, extended roaming would work in BOTH! I had a 7 hour layover in Turkey, the roaming was great. When I came to Egypt, I could not get any roaming. I could not even get internet as I now had no network at all!,I was stranded at the airport with no ability to call my driver. When I finally reached USMobile, which is very difficult to reach in a foreign country, I reach a rep. He said he would find an answer. I waited 30 minutes and NEVER GOT ONE! HE NEVER EVEN SAID HE LEFT!! I CAN NOT RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY IF YOU TRAVEL AND WANT TO USE YOUR PHONE FREE INTERNATIONALLY! IT SIMPLY WILL NOT WORK!

Don't bother filing for an Evisa unless you like throwing away $25

I filed for an Egyptian Evisa on the actual government site. I've filed for evisas numerous times before. Some have been easy, some more difficult. This site was horrific. It is poorly designed and has really badly written directions. It DOES NOT allow numbers to be entered in addresses. Further, it only allows the entire process to be done in 48 hours. So after you fill out your application, you need to hope they review it quickly so you have time to fix it. I made a mistake and found out with an hour to spare there was a mistake. When I fixed the mistake (which was in multiple places), the site only allowed me to fix it in one place and then closed my application and DID NOT ALLOW ME TO FIX THE OTHER PLACE WHERE IT WAS WRONG. Of course they then rejected my application and , in my opinion, stole my $25! It took me over two hours to initially fill it out. I do not reccommend you bother with an Evisa. I also wrote them a question, which they answered way too late to be useful and actually they didn't answer the question at all. They ask you to list the hotels you stayed at in your prior Egypt visit. But they don't tell you you only need to list one!!! They need to scrap the website and start again!!!

Money transfer

I opened an account to send money to Great Britain using my checking account. This site promised 1-3 day service with bank account to bank account service. I used them as I've had horrific service from Wise. Alas, this company is no better as it is now the 11th and they have yet to send my money. They sent an email today saying the transaction is now cleared, and the money should be sent in 1-4 days, but that is 5-11 day service, and not what they state. And that's assuming it gets sent in that time. I have no faith in that either.

Review of G Adventures

Trip to Morocco October 28 2022

Please note this trip was booked for March 2020, but the calendar won't let me set that date. I booked a 2 week guaranteed departure to Morocco a year before. After final payment, G Adventures canceled 2weeks before. By their contract, I was entitled to a full refund. Had I cancelled, they were entitled to keep all my money. They retroactively tried to rewrite the contract and force me to take a 1 year voucher at 110%. I refused, and they treated to give me nothing if I disputed the charge. I am a lawyer, and quoted their contract to them and threatened to sue them with a consumer protection lawsuit. I got my money back. At this time, they were abandoning tour groups abroad, not helping them with air fare, not notifying people trips were cancelled, and firing their local staff even though they promote they are a green company. They forced many vouchers on people illegally by rewriting their contracts. They are a BAD COMPANY!

Review of HP

The worst business computer tech support ever

I bought an HP Elite mini G9 in March. On Oct. 7, it would not turn on. HP provides 1-3 day onsite service. I called HP that morning, reported the problem, and corrected my address as I had moved my office. Neither HP or the tech group got my address right despite my providing my new address 6 times. The part was sent to the wrong address six times, and has never arrived. The only reason my computer got fixed was because after a week , I wrote to a high ranking HP executive who got involved and on the 9th day, a very skilled tech came who could fix my computer without the part. Even so, all the software I installed myself was uninstalled, and I spent 7 hours reinstalling that software yesterday. I was without my only business computer for 9 days! HP never got my address right, and the tech team never followed up and kept me abreast of the situation. In fact, they sent two emails cancelling my appointment for the 25th (when it got fixed) the night before. The spare part needed has never arrived. Avoid like the plague if you want a reliable computer, and plan on relying on their tech team if your computer breaks!

This company is dreadful

This company is dreadful. How they can charge for their service amazes me. I signed up to transfer money to Bali. The site promise if I linked my bank account, the transfer would happen that day. Against my better judgment, I did that, agreeing to send $1000 USD to Bali last Thursday. After I finished, it suddenly said the transfer would take three days, but could not happen until Monday (which is actually 5.) It didn't transfer until today, which is Six! Quite a difference from the same day, especially when it was bank account to bank account, and my bank account had $8000 US! My last transfer to Thailand took over a month to arrive. I have three words for anyone thinking of using this company: DO NOT USE!!
The company responded, and their answers are false. I already had one bank account on file with them. I've had an account with them for over 2 years. There is no reason for the delay, and the transfer took 2 days longer than their 3 days they said it would. I've had that bank account for 17 years. There is NO Justification for this delay, and even less for the month long delay to Thailand. They never stated any reason to me or in their generic reply. Again, DO Not Use!

Hi Stephanie,

We aim to complete all transfers as fast as possible, but delays can happen for different reasons. It could be because the transfer was set up closer to the weekend/holidays, or because we needed to carry extra checks. You can read about it here: https://wi.se/howlongdotransferstake

Regarding your previous transfer to Thailand, we understand that a month is certainly not the standard timeframe for our services. It's possible that certain regulatory checks or other factors might have contributed to the delay. We'd like to investigate this further and help you. Please reach out to us through our contact page: https://wi.se/contactus, or you can also connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, providing your email and user number.
