Incompetence
Without going into too much detail this company caused me incredible stress,delay and loss of money.
My buyers were in a rental. My flat was empty yet it still took 5 months to complete. Trying to communicate was dreadful. Calls going to voicemail, being left on hold. Calls not being returned.
Upon the day of exchange SC asked me for a UK bank account to transfer funds into. They had known for 5 months I was not a Uk resident, nor had lived in the Uk. I am a Jersey resident.
I requested the funds to be transferred to my Jersey bank account. They refused. They had previously done all KYC and anti money laundering checks twice ( first time when I bought the property 5 years ago). At no time had they informed me of this requirement and their flat refusal to transfer funds.
I spent days trying to open a bank account to no avail. All banks demanded a Uk address. I eventually managed to open a Revolute account and much to my relief the sale completed.
SC admitted incompetence and compensated me with £350. A terrible service.
