Terrible case management, rude, indirect service. They don't care.
I am currently six weeks into my remortgage with L&C and am extremely frustrated, not least because I have been in possession of my mortgage offer from the lender for two days now and nobody at L&C appears to be aware of this. I'm at a stage where I really want to progress matters as we are stuck on an SVR with our previous lender, but they are completely disinterested. Having spoken to the lender, it also appears that they requested a lot of information that 'was needed for the lender' that was of no relevance to them at all, which delayed the application process. I have been contacted directly just twice by my case manager since the application process began. Everything else has to go through a password protected portal which is difficult for me to use as I travel a lot for work, where any query I submit is usually answered by someone I have never dealt with before. I will use a different broker when my remortgage is due in five years and will never use L&C again, as I would much rather speak to a company where, as a customer, I am treated with a greater level of respect and urgency, and where my emails don't disappear into an unanswered void. Also, their email addresses do not accept attachments – the only way you can pass important (and sometimes urgent) documents over is via their dratted portal. Neither friendly, nor user-friendly. Companies need to remember where their revenues come from and make their customers feel valued, instead of making it feel like they're doing you a huge favour by selling you a large loan on which they get a nice kickback. I just hope the conveyancing process on what should be a straightforward remortgage isn't as soul-destroying as dealing with the broker. Sorry guys, a big customer service fail and where recommendations are concerned, it's a no from me.
