Faulty mattress? No, user error.

Enquired about the potentiality of my mattress being replaced, repaired, or a voucher, after giving up sleeping in a dip for a year. My mattress formed a dip in 3yrs, I weigh 67kg.

I was under the impression these mattresses were top tier, high quality, and worth the money. It's marketed as having two sides, so two mattresses in terms of life, and backed by a solid warranty. Couldn't be further from reality.

I was aware of the faults these mattresses have after researching on here and forums, but I thought I don't weigh much, surely I won't break a mattress, and I am polite with communication so JR's ignorance is probably just due to rude customers. Again how wrong was I?
I had already bought a new mattress before I sent the email as I knew how it would go, and this time I went for a cheapo mattress again as my last cheapo one lasted forever. Yet, I bought a quality topper for my John Ryan after I started getting shoulder pain on their softest one.

The most baffling and irritating bit about John Ryan is their commitment to gaslighting the customer with nonsense. The email I received after showing the photos of the mattress are so long that they won't fit here. So just a few quoted bits to show what they're truly like.

All mattresses settle where you lie the most and this is not a fault but a sign that the upholstery fibres are behaving as they should. When a mattress is made, all the upholstery fibres are completely flat and level with the piping. Adding the piping and the tufts compacts the fibres and creates the domed area. As you sleep and move around on the mattress, the upholstery layers soften and flatten out.

As we are creatures of habit, we tend to sleep in the same position on the mattress, the upholstery layers in this area settle, but leave the surrounding upholstery layers like new. This looks like the mattress has sagged or that there are raised areas on the surface of the mattress. Turning the mattress over on a regular basis and utilising the whole of the sleep surface will help to even out the settlement of the upholstery layers. As a lone sleeper, it is essential to sleep on all areas of the mattress and not just the centre. The upholstery fibres should eventually be flat and level with the piping once again"

Unfortunately my mattress didn't come with a technical manual. But snarkiness aside, imagine a side sleeper having to sleep near the edges of a mattress, who then wakes up and rolls over the wrong way! Ouch. What planet is JR on?!

I've given two stars as at least the side handles were able to handle the weight of the mattress when flipping. Delivery was satisfactory.

We did offer to have the mattress independently inspected by a qualified third-party professional to ensure an objective assessment of the situation. This inspection would have provided us with valuable insights and allowed us to address your concerns more effectively. However, we did not receive a response from you regarding this offer, which prevented us from moving forward with the inspection and ultimately resolving the matter to your satisfaction.

Bought a bike from here, had a small issue which was resolved amazingly. The customer service emails are a bit slow, but it was made up for, so I'm happy to give 5 stars and will continue to purchase from here as this has been my only issue with them over the years.

Easy returns service.

Bought 3x helmets to try on, returned 2x. Easy experience and decent prices. Helmets were double boxed packaged which was good.

The returns service was easy which was part reason for buying from here. No hoops to jump from, just send it in the post with the receipt, nice!

Refund has come through with email acknowledgements.

DPD know what they're doing

DPD know what they're doing. Choice of delivery is a nice new idea too. It's amazing how many other couriers (royal mail!), have been managing to get things wrong all these years, and DPD come along and give a delivery service that you couldn't ask for more.

However, i wish you'd pay your drivers more as they're mostly all contracted and don't recieve the same security as people on the books do.

Very good

Very good. Was expecting my radiator to get handled by the courier, but it was packaged with plastic corners and polystyrene also, so it arrived it the condition you'd want it in. All the fittings were there and it's up on the wall all plumbed in. I paid for the delivery on a specific day, which is arrived on. Will be sure to recommend.

No issues and swift service

No issues and swift service. Txt and email updates, with reminders for click and collect. Employees were happy.

Probably time they gave their employees a minor payrise as i know they're minimum wage staff unlike the people who work in Sainsbury's, yet it's the same company now.
