Review of Octopus Energy
Octopus Energy claim to provide "5-star customer service" and apparently Which have recommended the for 8 years running according to Octopus adverts on commercial radio.
This is NOT what I have experienced. I joined Octopus in August after being a long time customer of EDF. The reason I switched was because Octopus advertise a solution to linking gas and electricity meters for smart metering. In my case, the smart electricity works fine, but it doesn't link to the gas meter, which is some distance away on an outside wall. I have to take manual readings of the gas meter and submit the readings via my Octopus account. A pain to say the least!
Octopus asked me to send a picture of the gas meter when I joined in August, and again by a guy called Rameen, who promised to ring me to arrange some tests that Octopus needed. After waiting a week or more, with no call from Rameen, despite me giving several dates. I contracted Octopus again and got an email from Amy who apologised and said Rameen had been away on leave!! Nice one Rameen, just waste my time? Anyway Amy said she would ring to arrange the tests on the morning of the 15th September and I agreed.
I got this response when no call was forthcoming "Our inflow is a bit busier than expected this morning - I can give you a call this afternoon. Is there a specific time that works best for you at all?"
So, I replied that was fine and if they were still busy ring on Tuesday 16th. Of course, as usual, no call from Octopus and a complete waste of my time!
So, I complained about the appalling service and got a reply as follows on the 18th September:
"We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our service. As a result of your feedback we've opened a complaint for you, which is complaint reference #1836543."
I've heard NOTHING since!
Is this what Octopus call world beating customer service?
I call it a shameful lack of respect for me as a customer and appalling customer service.
At least EDF responded and apologised for not being able to provide adequate smart metering so I could take advantage of a lower tariff more my EV.
So, Octopus where is the 5-Star customer service you boast about? If I'd known how bad you were, I'd have stayed with EDF.

I was having great difficulties with activating Office 21 Pro Plus with the key provided, largely due to registry problems on my PC. James the support engineer was very patient and helpful on a Saturday evening and eventually the problem was solved. The Office 21 software is now running as it should and I'd like to give a big tick for MSSoftware and their support. Highly recommended and I'll certainly use the company again.
Review of Quickline Broadband UK
The Quickline engineer Nathan M did a great job here today running cables in a very cramped and hot loft space. Very impressed with Nathan's knowledge and helpful explanation how the Zyxel router works. The 1GB upload and download speeds are excellent compared to my slow copper cable broadband.

Scammers, avoid like the plague. They take your money and don’t deliver. They send the same template email reply to all requests for a refund and never answer questions. I am now contacting my credit card company to ask them to deal with Severn Magpie and obtain a full refund. This firm of crooks should not be allowed to trade in the U.K.
Repeat - avoid Severn Magpie they are scammers. Do not buy anything from this company.
