Review of Codecademy

Not really feeling it...

According to Codecademy.com, I'm about 15% of the way through my python course. However I find the site very frustrating. They teach as though I have a photographic memory. I do practice sessions to try and master what I've learned but the practice sessions are either far too easy, or too hard. The most frustrating thing for me is the sort of lazy way in which the assignments are explained. They give minimal instructions. The upside is that I can use an interactive AI chatbot to get help. Unfortunately, that chatbot is not available during practice sessions.

Review of Roomies

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Banned without given a reason.

Imagine a customer that knocks something on the floor and doesn't pick it up, gets angry if the item wanted is sold out, demands to speak to a manager for petty things, blocks the entire isle with their cart, and gets annoyed if they have to move to let someone by. Picture the race and likely gender. Now you probably know of the "karen" meme that ascribed to individuals like this.

Well, I've had about half a dozen roommates, all female, over the past few years. Half I met through the roomies.com site. However, most of those roommates were entitled, obnoxious, rude, dirty, and some I had to ask to leave.

Recently, a young woman messaged me stating that she was coming out of an abusive relationship and had no where to go. She wanted to move in with me the same day. I would be afforded no opportunity to meet her, vet her, get to know her, she wanted to move in the same day. She was traveling from about 2 hours away. I told her I would consider it, however it would be up to my girlfriend. My g/f said she didn't mind, so long as I felt I could trust this woman. So I gave the go ahead for the potential roommate (who went by maria) to move in. I told her she could stay for a week to see if we get along without having to pay. I explained to her the situation and she decided to start heading my way at almost midnight. This would mean she wouldn't arrive until 2am. Unfortunately this upset my gf greatly as she felt this was unprofessional and she changed her mind about allowing maria to move in with me. I told maria as much and she had the audacity to argue with me as though we already had a signed contract and my home was now her home. She said she intended to still move in with me and she wanted me to give her a key right away. After some back and forth, I told her I was no longer comfortable having her move in with me and I don't want to risk my relationship with my gf over a roommate. Maria then said she would text me later to update me and hung up.

The next day, I find that my account is banned from roomies.com. Again, I've been using this site for several years. I emailed them twice to inquire why my account was banned. They only stated that I violated community guidelines. When I ask what guidelines I specifically violated, there is not response. So, I would have to guess that Maria (a typical Karen) filed some false complaint about me that resulted in another karen, reviewing that complaint without any evidence and banning my account.

Update: Please look the reply from Roomies.com. They want me to provide evidence to them to prove my innocents, when they still have yet to tell me what policies I've violated. In other words, I'm found guilty for a crime that I don't even know about, but have to prove I'm not guilty.

Review of World Waze

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

(Is there worse than a 1 star?)

(Is there worse than a 1 star?)

OMW home from work tired, exhausted and hungry, Waze gave me an ETA of a 25 min drive (the usual over optimistic eta). I live on Miami Beach. There are three bridges which I can use to get home. The third and last bridge is the one that leads straight to my building, however the first two exits can also be used. Waze, being the incredibly asinine and useless app that it is and designed by troglodytes, waited until I was merely a few hundred meters away from my usual exit to indicate on the screen (I'm using waze on a double din stereo display) that there is the following on the road: Construction on the road, heavy traffic, an accident, and multiple police. All of this was entered by other waze users a while before I got anywhere near that area. Somehow, this profoundly stupid app failed to notify me about ANYTHING. It wasn't until I was a half-mile from the exit that the app announced that there was construction on the road. After sitting in traffic for nearly 20 minutes, I finally realized that the exit to the bridge was closed off. Not one person, not one cop, not a single construction person, no signs, nothing, indicated that the exit was closed. Now, I will say that living in Miami is a miserable experience. Most of the people here are lazy and stupid. There's an electronic sign on the road, but the Neanderthals running miami highway system simply put "closures ahead." So since I was sitting in traffic anyway, I told waze that the exit was shut down. I entered it into the system TWICE.
LISTEN TO ME CAREFULLY: Even though I told this stupid app that the exit was closed off due to construction, even though multiple waze users listed that there was cops, construction, traffic, etc. THIS STUPID APP STILL TOLD ME TO TAKE THE EXIT!!!! Do you understand what I'm saying. The app showed an impossible ETA of about 8 minutes and ignored any data it displayed on the screen. I swear this stupid app often thinks I'm in a helicopter flying above the road!!! I was forced to drive several miles further. Because the “geniuses” behind FDOT closed off all but a couple lanes on the highways as well as the exits, I had to drive for another half-hour north in traffic (yet waze kept telling me to take the exits that were all closed off). Finally when I reached the end of the construction I was able to exit. Here's the thing, waze was telling me to go BACK ON THE HIGHWAY to drive back to that same bridge that was closed.. This app is awful. This app is useless. Last week, on my way home from some errands, I tried using waze to give me options to go home. It immediately told me to drive in the opposite direction of my home for miles, to then take the highway. I looked at my routing options. My home was about 10 miles away. Amazingly, waze's suggestion that I use the highway would take 17 miles. So nearly double the distance?!?! Would I get there earlier? NO!!! According to the ETA, this would take LONGER. So WHY?!?! Why would this profoundly stupid app want me to take the longest route, both in time and distance?! I'm so sick of this stupid App. I so wish there were better options out there, but all the GPS apps I've tried seem to be severely flawed in different aspects.
