Parcel service okay, collect service abyssimal
I've had two instances where I've had a delivery with them, and it was okay. It got there on time.
However, the moment that counted, having a RMA collected by them and scheduled on my behalf by the shop to which I was returning the item, is when everything crashed down horribly.
First delivery: established for a Tuesday, I receive the confirmation from the shop to which I was returning my item for repair that the collection is going to be between 08:00 and 18:00. Waited the entire day, had to work from home, resulting in a much more unproductive session as I kept glancing out of the window to see when they will show up. No show.
Second delivery: delivery scheduled between 09:00 - 17:00 on Friday. So no one hour window when to expect them, just basically everyone's working hours. Great. I awkwardly have to explain to my manager why I have to work from home once again. I take a ten minute break to go grab some food, miss their phone call and immediately receive an email that I was unavailable. It took 10 minutes between when the driver called and when I saw the call and called back. The driver was unreachable. No doorbell ringing, nothing. Just that one phone call.
I spent roughly an hour with them on the phone between DPD UK and DPD Ireland just to be told that there is nothing to be done, the driver's off for the day. Awesome, they made me waste two work days, but the driver is off and nothing can be done.
So no specified one-hour time slot, and their service decides that, if you can't be reached by phone, you're obviously not available for the pickup. You know, despite the pickup being SCHEDULED for the day. One would think that when you schedule a pickup, especially one with no hour time slot, where they book your entire day, you plan to be in to actually hand over the parcel. Instead they have left me with a feeling of being completely demeaned and with no respect for my time. You booked my entire day, the least you can do is be flexible in picking up what you were supposed to.
Notification email was also a mild mess, because instead of the consignment number, it gave me all zeroes. It took me going to the re-delivery page, which gave me no option, and accidentally finding the consignment number as white text on a white background to even talk to them.
Third time's the charm, I suppose, but in between the two collections they wasted my entire week that could have been spent getting a much needed piece of equipment repaired and sent back to me.
If I ever need to pick a courier for a personal shipment where I need a collection, DPD Ireland won't be it. This was a humiliating experience.
