Backwards company

Terrible service, they are unable or unwilling to cancel an order which is still a whole weeks away from being dispatched and delivered. They’d rather me wait for eventual delivery and then return it, yet they bang on about being green. Make it make sense.

A truly incompetent clown show.

Review of Allen Ford UK

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Gross incompetence, lies, and a ruined experience

Ordered a brand new car. It arrived with a damaged bumper. Like a mug, I gave them a chance to fix it even though I did immediately reject it. The car came back with a shoddy respray job, visible ripples in the paint, and additional interior damage. Weeks later, they fixed the interior, then told me “three pairs of eyes” couldn’t see any paintwork issues. Fast forward nearly two months, I go to collect he car again and spot the paint ripple instantly — and finally get a “yeah, it’s there, but it’s so minor you should just take it.”

Meanwhile, because they never correctly completed the paperwork, no payment was taken for over 30 days, the finance fell through, Ford Credit set up a second agreement, and my credit score took a hit.

How about… no?

I got my money back, but what a complete shambles. They lie, they gaslight, and they’re grossly incompetent. This car should’ve been replaced for me properly, and instead they’re now going to have to try try to flog it used — because I’m apparently not allowed to have it that way when I asked. Disgusting. Avoid these people like the plague.

A go-to retailer

Great niche site, competitive pricing, reliable, safe and secure, though their game selection is a little lacking.

Keep them in mind though as their customer service is also excellent.

Misleading Listing, No Refund—Avoid Yuplay

Bought a game key from Yuplay, and there was no clear mention of region restrictions in the listing. Turns out it won’t redeem in my region, so it’s completely useless to me. I asked for a refund since the listing was misleading, but they flat-out refused.

First time I’ve had an issue with them after multiple purchases, and this is how they handle it. Steer clear—poor customer service and iffy descriptions.

*edit*
As of 24/03/25 - fast communication, but it took some persuading with a PayPal dispute to get the ball rolling, but a refund was issued.

Avoid buying mattresses from John Lewis

Terrible durability—bought a mattress that barely lasted six months. The corners are breaking down, the sides offer no support (especially when sitting on the edge), and the stitching is already coming loose in several spots. Save your money and buy a mattress from somewhere else.

P.S: your inspection sucks too. 25mm dip in 6 months and the allowance is 33mm? Plus fraying fabric to boot. Great quality guys.

*edit*
The mattress was exchanged, and whilst I appreciate the outcome and extend my thanks, the fact that it required a replacement after only ~7 months is concerning. It doesn’t exactly inspire much confidence in the replacement.

Review of Bose

Gross incompetence and lies

If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Bose. I ordered from them on 16/01/2025 and attempted to cancel the order the same day. Bose refused to cancel, even though the package hadn’t shipped yet. UPS confirmed Bose could have stopped the shipment at any time, but they chose not to and said they couldn't do it.

Despite four recorded attempts on the UPS tracking to return to sender, the package took a week-long sightseeing tour across Europe and the UK, wasting resources and causing delays—all because Bose refused to act. Their customer service repeatedly lied, contradicted themselves, and shifted blame. When the item finally returned to them, I was told I’d need to wait 2–3 weeks for a refund, despite this mess being entirely their fault.

Their "solution"? A useless 10% discount for future orders. No accountability, no urgency, and no respect for customers. Bose used to be a premium brand, but their service is now bottom-tier. Save yourself the headache—shop elsewhere.

Review of Next

Awful systems and service, but decent enough products

Next has potential, but outdated systems and unreliable service hold them back from being a modern retailer. While the clothing quality can be hit or miss, it’s generally good. However, the experience is often marred by extremely frustrating processes and incompetent service.

For example, I tried to cancel an order within an hour and was told it had been successfully canceled, but it still showed as active on my end. I placed a replacement order, and both parcels ended up at my local store. I was advised to use the return machine to identify which parcel was which, only to find that scanning automatically processes a return, so both parcels had to go back. This issue could have been easily avoided with a clear order number system. I then had to repurchase the item without the discount I originally used.

Seriously. Please update your systems—simple improvements like adding visible order numbers would massively streamline the process and reduce these avoidable headaches for customers.

*edit*
As of 24/03/2025, I cannot stress enough how awful your systems are. Adding simple order numbers to each would massively alleviate order issues. Improve your order tracking!

Sludge practices and shambolic service

Paused a couple of deliveries and they still charged me for a box and tried to force me into having it. Not on my watch.

Don’t bother with these scammers and don’t be tempted to sign up by their generous offers, it’s how they get you!

*EDIT*
Ensure you pay with PayPal and dispute these grifters if this happens to you. The dispute I raised has them worried, and now I am being offered a refund but “only if I close my dispute first”. HA. Do you think I’m stupid?

HelloFresh need to be investigated as they are 100% dodgy and engage in illicit practices.

Thanks for leaving a review. We really appreciate all of your feedback.

It’s so disappointing to hear you've had issues with managing your account. We apologise for any confusion and distress this has caused. This is never our intention and making the subscription nature of our product as clear and easy to manage as possible is an area we’re always working on improving.

As a company, we work to a 23.59 pm deadline, five days prior to your delivery day. Once the deadline has passed we go to our suppliers and order the ingredients we need to fulfil the orders for the coming week and update our couriers so they can plan their delivery routes. We completely understand how last minute changes may pop up, however, we do have this deadline in place to ensure we're responsible and ethical from a food waste and sourcing perspective.

Not bad.

Purchased the wrong game in error, filled out an online form and sent an email to their support team requesting a refund and I haven’t heard anything back yet which doesn’t exactly instil me with much confidence.

What’s going on? Happy to revise my review if I’m proven wrong, but at the moment I don’t rate the service.

EDIT: Thank you. Product refunded.

New factory order car faulty on collection.

Very quick to sell you a vehicle but will do their best to avoid buying it back if it’s faulty. They prefer to pass the buck to the financiers of the vehicles.

C’mon. I bought a new car with a fault on the first day. Do the right thing, stop being stingy, cancel the new finance agreement, take the financial hit, return my previous vehicle to me and sort it out.

Why should I have to saddle any burden for problems between yourselves and the manufacturer?

Go elsewhere instead.

Illicit customer service practices. AVOID!

Bought a Nintendo Switch, used it for about 15 mins and I detested it, thus it wasn’t fit for purpose. I tried to take it back and they told me I couldn’t. It didn’t come sealed, there were no security seals or anything like that, and it wasn’t damaged so it could’ve easily been resold.

Moreover, that isn’t my problem. You do know that you’re actively breaking the law with this anti consumer policy? Legal advice suggests I have a case here, but alas I ended up eBaying it because I couldn’t be bothered dealing with these penny pinching clowns.

Don’t bother with Curry’s, they’ll probably go bankrupt soon. They’re obviously struggling at the moment which is why they are penny pinching. The writings on the wall.

P.S: Curry’s - you owe me money as I made a loss on eBay because you wouldn’t honour the law or respect my statutory rights and let me return it.

Educate yourselves on the law:
The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellationw and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013

Update: 15/02/24
Some clown called me from their “complaints” departments and offered me nothing other than an apology. Literally nothing else. 😂 Don’t ever buy from Curry’s, folks. The sooner bankrupt they go, the better.

Legal con.

A legal con.

Purchased some tickets in haste, realised I couldn't attend and immediately attempted to cancel and I was basically told to gtfo.

Avoid. There's better venues to go to anyway and more customer friendly places to buy tickets from.

Requested to delete my account and data - ignored.

Review of NS&I

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

NS&I sums up the UK in a nutshell. Mediocrity.

Antiquated, broken, clunky, mediocre, half baked, and headache inducing are all words that perfectly sum up NS&I.

Signing up was a ball-ache and I had to call customer services to manually retrieve my NS&I number to access my account as their systems must've had an issue, yet they were VERY quick to take my money.

Accessing and navigating their website is a nightmare. Over-the-top security features make logging in extremely tedious, and to make it worse; it times out extremely quickly, making you go through the hellish login process sooner rather than later. I didn't press the damned back button, why did you log me out?!

And to top it all off, cashing out your investment is SLOW and yet again, needlessly difficult. Seriously, don't bother. Invest your money elsewhere. NS&I is awful and rather shady.

Not-so fairer share payment!

Me:

>Have had a Nationwide account since I was a kid.
>Have a decent amount of savings with Nationwide.
>Have 3+ accounts with Nationwide.
>Not receive any communications about this "fairer share payment" and thus have no idea what the arbitrary pre-requisites are.
>Not receive the £100 payment and thus treated like an unworthy peasant.

Nationwide:
"...it's a fairer share payment we swear!"
"it's only for customers we have a deeper relationship with"

It's cool. I've heard you loud and clear. I shall be taking my cash elsewhere.

Scammers masquerading as a telecommunications provider

Sold me a sim that didn't work in my phone.
-Didn't test my phone prior to selling me said sim.

Told me to wait 1hr~ for "line to liven up"
-Waited 2~ hours.

Didn't work.
-Asked for a refund.

Was told no refunds on pre-paid.
-Called customer service, line was cancelled and a one-time refund was offered because "my phone wasn't tested by the store"

5 days later...no refund. Call customer service who are totally oblivious what the situation is.
-Refund "failed", was told they're resubmitting.

10 days later...no refund. Call customer service who are AGAIN totally oblivious what the situation is.
-Refund "re-arranged".

13 days later...no refund. Tweet customer service.
-Threaten with a chargeback and was told refund has been escalated and they'll personally Tweet me when they know what's happening.

T-MOBILE ARE SCAMMERS. HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS IS BEYOND ME. AVOID THESE CLOWNS!
