Review of Top Notch Holidays

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Disappointing customer service

Unfortunately I have been forced to edit my initial review of Top-Notch holidays. We are now on our holiday and have encountered problems with the hotel to airport transport booked by the agent - the company TLT, dropped us several streets away at 11pm at night after a lengthy flight. We had no idea how to find the hotel and were saved by the hotel owner.

I telephoned Top-Notch for help with the return transfer (after sending an email that was ignored). I spoke to Lee who promised a return call but didn't bother. I phoned again, but Lee would not take the call.

In the end we have booked a taxi at further expense. We were unable to reach TLT, who will only deal with us via the agent that booked the transport.

After Top-Notch have your money, all customer service is abandoned.

Please try a more reputable agent and save yourself some holiday drama!

A genuinely top-notch experience with Joshua and Barry at Top-Notch travel. Very friendly and helpful, and understanding of our concerns (being new to booking holidays).

Joshua has helped every step of the way and talked us through the full process. Always nice to be able to chat to a familiar voice who will instantly recognise a customer and remember the earlier conversation.

Can't recommend enough if you want a caring and friendly travel company who want to build real relationships with customers.

Thanks again Joshua and Barry.

My skin is much healthier because of LiB

I have been a member for many years, and since taking on the subscription found that my skin condition has improved immensely. I used to have very dry skin, and could never find the right products to treat this. Latest in Beauty has given me access to quality skincare that has resolved these issues, allowing me to try the latest products at affordable prices. I love always having something new to research and test, and have while not every product is a winner, the site has saved me a small fortune over the years.

I don’t like the new style of weekly drops as much as the old system, where everything was launched at the start of the month. But, it’s a small niggle. It’s a great site and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Bought the Skinny Maple Syrup

Bought the Skinny Maple Syrup, Chocolate Syrup, and a couple of bags of crispies just in case they were any good. Oh my god, I cannot believe the taste and quality. That maple syrup is amazing, and totally guilt free. I'm delighted. Those crispies are a lovely moreish treat for movie nights and snacking, without the usual post-sugar remorse!
They are also a really nice company to buy from - the delivery was very quick, and the communications were great.
Whether you're dieting or otherwise, why not have a product without sugar, but with the same great taste?
Highly recommended.

Review of Virgin Media

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Time for Ofcom to become involved in this organisation's practices

Absolutely appalled with Virgin’s customer service and treatment of their longstanding existing customers, who are forced to pay higher contract rates than new customers despite many years of loyalty and receive nothing more than contempt from the Virgin customer ‘care’ teams.

I negotiated a new contract with Virgin back in February for £40 a month, after phoning to cancel a resubscription based on the ever-increasing prices. Despite telling the agent that we did not want or need a TV package I was told that including this service would be the only way to reduce the overall cost of our monthly bill, which I believed we had set at £40 for eighteen months. However, this week we received a letter telling us about a price increase of nearly 10%, for the somewhat ambiguous reason of ‘improving service.’

First of all, if the service is poor (as it has been on several occasions), then surely this should be reflected with deductions in our bill, not increases. But when I call Virgin to complain about downtime, they tell me that we will not receive credit for scheduled maintenance of less than 24 hours. It’s convenient that ALL downtime is not deemed “scheduled”.

Secondly, we do not use our TV service at all, using the Freeview built into our television instead on the rare occasions that we switch the box on, nor do we make telephone calls from our landline (unless to Virgin of course, hours of my life that I will never get back), choosing instead to use the thousands of free minutes on our mobile phone contracts.

So, we are paying that £40 a month for a broadband service and telephone line only, sorry, make that £43.50.

Virgin Media told me yesterday that they were not prepared to waive this price increase based on our earlier agreement, and if I wanted to ‘disconnect’, or end the contract early, then I would be charged a fee of £20 a month or thereabouts, until the end of our agreement, amounting to around £120. So, essentially, they said pay the extra £3.50 a month for 6 months, or we will charge you £120 to cancel. Either way they come out quids in.

I would like to point out that the services we actually want, and use, would currently cost £32 a month for ‘new customers only’, because of course, existing customers survive only to be milked by the corporate overlords of the Virgin Media enterprise.

In my opinion it is time that Ofcom more thoroughly investigated this corporation, their abuse of market monopoly (their fibre broadband still remains the fastest available to individual households), and the equitability of their policies regarding new and existing customers.

But in the meantime, my suggestion would be to live with a slightly slower download speed and try a more customer friendly company instead.

Review of Glasses Direct

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Absolutely brilliant

Absolutely brilliant. Used the online tools to find frames which would suit my face shape, and then ordered on the Wednesday. They arrived on the Saturday, and I received regular updates on their progress. The glasses are perfect, comfortable, and the prescription is spot on. I really can't recommend this company enough. I'm already browsing for my next pair of frames!
