Review of Consumer Cellular

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Not as good as they used to be.

I've been with ConsumerCellular for many years. They used to be better. They will raise your rates, then upgrade their price structures to compete with the competitors, but leave existing customers in a lower quality deal, not telling them of the better option of getting more for less money.

If you update the credit card, they will turn off the auto-pay so that they can make an extra $5.00 by forcing you to manually pay, and charging you a $5.00 manual pay fee.

Review of Click2Mail

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

They ignore my e-mails

My e-mails were never replied to when I sent e-mail to support-at or customersuccess-at.

But I did get proper support from sending e-mail to kayako. So I recommend ignoring their regular support, and going to kayako for support.

What good is a business that does not reply to their e-mails?

The click2mail instructions says to allow .25 inch for bleed, and allow .25 inch for cut inaccuracies. So I did so, and they shrunk my layout by .25 inch; instead of counting bleed. So that's a total shrinkage of 1/2 inch horizontal, and 1/2 inch vertical. That's not a horrible amount of shrinkage, but it makes it look goofy with that much white space, and makes the fonts smaller.

The ink was also over-saturated, causing offset. It was not horribly bad, but bad enough to make it look home made. It does not look professional.

I should have printed a few for myself first before ordering them for mailing. Then I would have seen the low quality.

Over all, it was not horrible, but it was not quality.

I do like the vast number of options when ordering a mailing list. There are a lot of options for reaching your desired target. But it's a bit difficult to navigate, until you get used to it. I recommend starting out with "basic version" option. After receiving the list I found about 10% that did not match up with what I was targeting, and removed them before mailing.

And I like the fact that they clearly show the pricing. It's very easy to see how much something is going to cost.

Their system seems to be a bit under-managed.

I left the following negative review, and uploaded a picture of the shoes received, on the New Balance Fresh Foam 510v6, and they did not post the review:

The most uncomfortable shoes I have ever purchased. Purchase these shoes if you like wearing wooden shoes. Actually, wooden shoes would probably be more comfortable than these. I took them off, and rubbed heavy weight gear oil over them to try to soften the plastic, and put them back in the box to let the oil soak in to try to soften them. I had to untie the shoe laces, and skip the last 4 holes and leave them crazy loose to try to make them more possible to wear them. They are not black. They are grey. The words "Toe Protector" looks ridiculous. They have stupid grooves in the bottom that tracks dirt all over the place. I can see designing a shoe with tread that is nothing but a bunch of small groves, but what's the point in putting in grooves around all of the large tread??? Those groves offer no value other than to track dirt. Even the insoles have tread. For some reason they though we wanted to be walking on tread. It's like walking on rocks. The top of the insoles are like where you see concrete made with pebbles where they have washed the top of the concrete away leaving a pebbly top to the concrete.

Not only that, but consumeraffairs.com started sending me a bunch of spam, so I modified my account for them to stop sending spam, but only normal communication. That stopped the spam, but they blocked my review. So I reposted the review, and they blocked it again, and started sending me a bunch of spam again.

Review of HostGator

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I think that Hostgator is the best …

I think that Hostgator is the best value for shared hosting, but the support is absolutely horrible.

I realize that there are a lot of people that don't know what they are doing, and will bog down support, if allowed to, but that is no reason to penalize those of us that do know what we are doing, and need a server problem fixed, that we as customers have no control over.

Brent Oxley sold us out when he sold Hostgator to EIG.

Hostgator used to be the best, bar none.

*Update:*

Hostgator gave me the ability to e-mail for tech support, so now I don't have to go through the chat to get a support ticket. This is much better use of my time. I don't have to submit many tickets, as I can figure out my own problems. But when a server is not working right, there is nothing I can do other than have a tech fix it since I don't have access to that.

I had 4 server issues:
(1) They changed something on the server that was blocking one of my connections. I ended up recompiling some software on my computer to make it work.
(2) A small annoyance bug that could have been fixed by them running a simple rm command in terminal. But they refused, since they don't like removing files owned by root.
(3) A yearly update that no longer requires a ticket. They finally have it working in the control panel. So I was able to do the update, and no longer need to create a ticked for that each year.
(4) A server problem that they halfway fixed. So now it's fixed enough that I could make it work correctly on my end by doing a little modification.

So it's better now that I don't have to waste time with the incompetency of chat techs. Though the ticket techs are still lacking understanding, and refuse to admit when they don't know what they are talking about. For example the tech with issue (4) does not even know that a .htaccess file in a particular directory may override directives found in .htaccess files found higher up in the directory tree. This is very basic information that every admin should know.
