Firstly, I received a letter on the 30th October 2020 with regards to the reduction of my credit limit being brought down from £9,700 to a mere £250... at first, I honestly thought this was a JOKE.
This I find pathetic and you may have well closed the account because £250 is no use to me (I spend more than that on a night out) not when you look at my spending, in just the last few months… since early March and all through DURING COVID, my spend has been regularly to the tune of £8,000 and paid EVERY PENNY back IN FULL... So, this I would say is a healthy fully functioning account.
I have a MONTHLY Direct Debit in place currently for £150 which was originally £300...
I have never missed a payment... Never been in debt... Also, I never asked for a payment holiday during this pandemic... I have and continue to work through this horrible time... On speaking to a customer services advisor on 30/10/20, she was blown away at the fact the reduction you want to make from £9,700 down to £250... Even she commented on the fact she thought it was insulting as the account is healthy, active and in use....
Since July I have bought a laptop, paid for holidays, car hire and travel insurance, these are just a few purchases, how do you honestly think £250 will work for me...?? OH, and all repaid BEFORE DUE DATE IN FULL...
On the day this letter arrived I spent 4 hours on the phone and was passed through 18 different customer service advisors, and was told absolutely NOTHING, then on the 24th November (following posting 2 recorded delivery signed for letters, on 14th and 17th November, which you have had both, as I was told you had them on the 24th November) I called again spending another hour on the phone to be told my account was under review, this takes 7 – 10 days.
On 7th December, the day the reduction was diarised, I called again to get an update and was on the phone 3 more hours just to be told my account was under review and it would take 3 weeks and if I did not like it to just write a letter to the complaints department.
My issue is this is a farse because it is a LONG-STANDING HEALTHY account, and I don’t have a clue as to what is happening neither do I know if I should spend any money with regards to the account under review especially now at CHRISTMASTIME and what the hell the credit limit is going to be.
I truly hope this does not affect my credit scores on my credit file as they are impeccable and excellent over many years and I would be so mad if this stunt of yours damages them in any way.
