Very late delivery

Ordered a lawnmower from them through Manomano as there was a discount that way. Next day delivery wasn't possible so it was going to come Tuesday. DHL said that they tried but couldn't deliver (there were people in the house all day). I rescheduled for the Monday (yesterday) as we were away. Nothing happened on Monday, although they said they'd tried to deliver in the evening (4 people in the house). This morning at 1030 the website just said loaded on the van and that was it until it turned up on the doorstep at teatime.
I kept Howe Tools informed of what was going on and depending on who answered they were very reassuring but there wasn't anything they could do. OK this rant is much more at DHL for their appalling service but Howe Tools are responsible and accountable for the delivery agent they chose and it took 9 days to deliver (partly because I was away), so don't believe the hype about next day delivery if ordered before 8pm, you might be dreadfully frustrated!

Merc A class Battery fail

Online booked a battery replacement, car registration used for which battery (Merc A class AGM battery). Young guy came and stated that he had the wrong battery plus he need a Mercedes tool to extract the battery which he didn't have. Rearranged for another day. Same guy brought two batteries with him but still no special tool and he thought the ECU might have to come out etc. Was talking to his boss about going to the merc dealer and buying the tool. I decided this was waaaay too much hassle he was clearly inexperienced so I decided to cancel and obtain refund.
AA mobile battery guy fitting one now. No merc tool required, its a standard extension spanner. No need to remove ECU. He has all 3 potential batteries in his van.

No sign of order and they know nothing

I ordered a double bed and headboard. Given estimated delivery dates, bed first then headboard. Excellent delivery on the bed. 2 weeks later, way past date for headboard I contacted them and they're full of apologies, delivery will be in touch soon! Contacted again next day (today), still know nothing, delivery will be in touch by 7pm tonight. Sigh!!!!

Not commissioned

Took 5 appointments for an installation engineer to come with the correct equipment. It was an hour and 20 minutes to replace the EDF SMETS 2 smart meters with SMS ones. Engineer said 24 hours to commission. Not working next day, rang up and was told oh no 24-48 hours, OK. 48 hours later still not working, rang back 'oh right, I'll send an email and someone will get in touch next day. Next day, 16:10 no call, I rang back 'oh no one at the desk but they're here and they'll ring you today.' It's now 19:04 and still no call.

Flowers not delivered by Yodel or DPD.

Ordered flowers on Thursday, due delivery on Saturday. Checked on Saturday and Yodel nowhere near delivering, it was going to be Monday. Rang customer services. OK they said we'll send by DPD for delivery on Sunday. DPD said no way Jose it'll be Monday. Checked their website today (Monday) and they're not going to deliver, call Waitrose they said. Rank customer services again and got a refund. Sigh!!!!

Speedy service but fell at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd hurdles

Was recently moved from the failed Green company to Shell. Took a while for the transfer to occur but they had 100's of 1000's of customers to deal with so no surprise there.
Once we were fully connected I could see that our SMETS 2 electric Smart meter was registering but not the gas one, hardly surprising as it had never worked since it was installed a couple of years ago. The installation engineer stated that because the two meters were so far apart the gas couldn't communicate with the electric one, which sent the data. I had asked Octopus for a resolution, no luck, asked Green, no luck. Asked Shell on about 8th Dec and today, Elizabeth, informed me that the engineer would be coming on 10th Jan to change the meter for a dual band. I'm very happy that Elizabeth pushed it through with the metering department that I really had an issue, not teething troubles :-)

After this the appointment on 10th was rescheduled to the 20th as the engineer had covid, OK can't be helped. On the 20th no one came, I rang and was told it had been cancelled but they didn't know who cancelled it, rescheduled to today. Engineer came and within 30 seconds told me he couldn't fit a 2 band gas smart meter as no one had told him what the job was and he didn't have one, rescheduled for somewhen. SMS aren't doing Shell Energy any favours here.

Don't hold your breath on refunds

Was with them over a year, then found a cheaper supplier with a fixed tariff. Transfer took an age but seemingly thats down to the industry, not individual suppliers. Eventually got a final bill, I was £150+ in credit. They said on 8th Feb they'd make a payment by 23rd Feb and it would take up to 10 working days to credit my account. I'm still waiting.

Replacement Covers after 12 years

Bought a large L shaped sofa 12 years ago. Been very pleased with the practicality as grandkids grew up with it. Decided that the covers were tired and thought I'd ask if they did replacements. They did! They sent me the sizing and prices based on my original purchase.
Ordered after getting some samples, chose a date from the delivery calendar they offered. They missed the first date and the second. Got them about 5 weeks after ordering. Perfect fit, strong material, well sewn. Very happy.

After a week it stopped working

After a week it stopped working. Went through a reset rigmarole twice and eventually a new one was sent. Connecting the replacement up was much more difficult than setting up from scratch.
Subsequently it has worked fine and I'm really pleased to be able to control the heat when away from home. The timers are the simplest I've encountered so far.


Hhhhmmmm I see you have a single automated response for any opinion which is less than Hive is amazing. If you had read my response instead of your auto bot going off you'd have seen that it's all working.
