Review of Coddy

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Gets you going

I've been trying to get more serious about programming after working with Python scripting for 2 years. Taken several free and paid courses on Rust, Zig, C#, and SQL.

I've been using coddy.tech for a about 2 months now. Bought a lifetime subscription after maybe 2 weeks.

There are some great platforms out there that have their own workspace (hand-on approach where you code in the browser an all that). Coddy.tech is fairly decent contentwise and a lifetime subscription costs less than a year in most of these other platforms.

So far I've only tried the Rust course and it's the most fun and compelling Rust course I've ever taken by far. Lessons are bite-sized enough that I can use 5/10 minutes of idle time at work and do a few lessons.

I know there are plenty of free resources out there. But the fact that I can jump into it from any computer and pick up exactly where I left off last time, no setting-up or downloads, is temptingly convenient.

The AI analyzer is surprisingly fun. It rates your solution on readability, maintainability, and performance. Results vary a little, and sometimes you lose points because you followed the instructions to the letter. I think it's instructed to pour as much praise on the user as possible, but it's motivating, and it encourages you to try different approaches. There's also an AI to help you if you're stuck. I haven't used it much because it's kind of slow and I'm already used to ask ChatGPT/Gemini for help, but seems pretty on point.

Overall I think it deserves a 5 star just for how excited it got me about coming back every time, learn more, and explore different programming languages.
