Progress not perfection says it all
Progress not perfection says it all. Too intimidated by abstinence based programmes, Bruce’s Rethink Drink livestream came up on my fyp and I was instantly intrigued. I thought it was too good to be true so I did my own independent research on TSM then contacted the team. Only 8weeks into TSM, I’ve seen significant progress. I’m consuming fewer units, my cravings and pace of drinking has drastically decreased, I have alcohol free days and am comfortable not anxious during social situations. The biggest thing that has changed is, during stressful and traumatic moments, I have not reached for alcohol to deal with the anxiety and pain. TSM has enabled me to face my traumas and start my healing journey. Naltrexone works and deals with the addiction. The support from the team is as crucial to the process. My one to one support meetings with Bruce has been an essential factor for my progress so far. Bruce goes through TSM, answers questions, reassures and inspires and has helped ease my fears about failure. The group zoom meetings (of which I was wary and sceptical) are a safe, fun space to learn, listen and share. The most surprising aspect is how I am learning to change my attitude to all aspects of my life. I’m reexamining my habits and am making small changes to my daily routine. I never thought I’d be in the position where I could say I’m in control of my drinking and I have significantly reduced the amount of alcohol I consume. I still have a way to go but trusting in the process, trusting in the support, knowing others have succeeded has given me the confidence to know I can do this.
