Drinking all day, to maybe once a month, with little effort
I started the program about 18 months ago. The membership cost was hard to justify right away, and I thought about trying the Sinclair method on my own with the pills, but the support group was more than I could ask for, and I wouldn't be successful without it. The facilitators, especially Katie, are great. The extra sessions and guest speakers are also helpful.
I haven't had a healthy relationship with alcohol for most of my life, especially the last 10 years. I was able to stay sober 2018-2020, but I never stopped craving it. I joined Thrive when I was at the point of drinking 6-12 drinks a day, every day. I got quick results right away, and a slower change since. The group really helped encourage me to stick with it. Now, drinking usually seems gross. I've only drank a few times in 2025, and it's not an effort to not drink now. The few times I did, I would have 2 or 3, and be done with it. I never imagined that I could become a "normal drinker" but if I take my pill whenever I know I'll have a drink, I'll have more control than I ever thought possible.
