Moving house

Moving house, called talktalk to move the contract. They advised they couldn't serve my area and let me cancel without charge. Fine right?

I look about and take out a new contract with someone else, they say they'll come out on the 26/01/2025 - i e. Two weeks.

The next day talktalk call back to beg us to come back. The agent made a mistake and they can serve my area, and they'll come out earlier than the 26th! Great, i can get the internet faster, right?

Right?

No, of course not. The next day i get a text from talktalk to tell me that they'll come on the 05/02/2025. What?? I call talktalk and spend 1 hour 30 minutes of my life on the phone with them for them to tell me they can't do anything about the new later date and then keep me on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes to get through to the cancellation team.

Eventually after wasting my time in this way, because their policies which i couldn't care less about didn't allow them to just apologise, explain and cancel.

Now i can't get anybody to come out before 03/02/2025 which means I'll have to take another week off work because they straight up lied about when they'd come and activate the internet in order to retain a customer.

Call centres all in India too, so good luck getting someone to understand what you need.
