Loyal customers who will not be using this place again!
My partner and I have been using National Tyres and Autocare in Bangor for the past 3 years for both of our cars have never had a problem until this year. We took my partners car in for an MOT on the 20th January 2024. When we went to collect the vehicle we were informed by Craig that the nearside ball joint and wipers had failed the MOT, we were quoted £545 to fix both of these issues. We were also advised to change both front tyres and to pay for these online separately although they had passed the MOT and were within the legal limit. We booked the car in for 22nd January to be repaired, however, I said on the way home the quote seems incredibly expensive for the parts that needed replacing. I phoned a local garage 21st Jan and asked for a quote who said to replace the whole arm with the ball joint it would be £136. I bought my own wipers for £24 and fitted them within 2 minutes. This was considerably cheaper than the quote from this company. I phoned on the 21st and spoke to Craig to cancel the repair and explained I had found a local garage who were a lot cheaper, he did not seem particularly interested but I asked to book a retest for 27th as the MOT expired 28th. He booked us in for 10:10am as I had to be in work for 13:30. The local garage fixed the car and also stated there was no need to change the tyres there was around 6,000 miles left on both, Took the car back to national tyres on Saturday 10:10 to be told there was no booking and they were very busy until 13:30 that day. We travelled from Holyhead with a one year old and I had to be in work for that time. The manager that day did manage to sort the problem and eventually we left the garage at 13:15. But it did cause a lot of stress that was not needed. We have noticed a big difference in the staff’s attitude lately and the lack of professionalism in the place. There is clearly an issue between staff on shift as it is blatantly obvious the way the speak to each other in front of customers (I would hate to see how they speak to each other behind closed doors) We will certainly not be using this garage again and will now stick to our local family garage who had a totally different demeanour and fair price not trying to get as much money as they could from us. Really disappointed. Thank you to the shift manager that on 27th for getting it retested for us by moving other customers appointments but Craig the assistant manager certainly needs to look at what he is doing, overcharging customers and lack of communication regarding appointments.
