Things to be Aware of

Thought the process with Motorway was relatively simple and effective but please other users be aware that although a dealer places a winning bid for your vehicle they may not follow through with the sale which is extremely frustrating, time wasting and may end up actually costing you money!! A contracted company turned up at my address to allegedly pick up my car 10 days after the auction. The male, who by his own admission was not a mechanic and had no qualifications in the trade, made spurious mechanical assumptions about the car which resulted in the dealer refusing to follow through with the purchase. I then had to seek an alternative purchaser and due to the passage of time the guide price of the vehicle had dropped by approx £300. Motorway gave the impression they were not in the least bit interested.

Thank you for your review. Sorry that you were unhappy with your experience at the point of collection.

Regarding the inspection, unfortunately if the buyer identifies any issues that weren’t listed on the profile or if they suspect any potential faults during the test drive and inspection then they are within their rights to walk away as your offer is based on the accuracy of the information provided and advertised on your profile.

We were advised that at the point of inspection the driver noticed some white smoke from the exhaust and also mentioned that the clutch travel was abnormally high, which could have been an indication that there was an issue with the gearbox. This is not to say that their appraisal was definitely correct, but being remote from the inspection we need to take their feedback seriously, as buyers won't pay to collect a vehicle only to back out without a valid reason.

Whilst I appreciate your frustration in this matter and apologise for the inconvenience caused we would be happy to relist your car in a future sale however, before doing so we would require some form proof that confirms any of potential issues noted above have been rectified if needed.
