Help at hand
I knew something had happened to the car as I was driving along and heard and felt a huge "Thump" to the driver's side. I was unable to pull over due to traffic so I continued without further problem. I reached my destination but then decided that I really needed to get back home where I would feel safe. I knew that I needed assistance to find out what had happened. I crawled home with the hazard lights on and reached home safely. I called the AA who answered immediately, asked if I as in a safe place and what had happened. I explained and they said they would send someone out as soon as possible. I received a call from the Patrolman about 30 minutes later to check and see if I was OK and to say that he would be with me in 10 minutes. Which he was. A very pleasant, reassuring and professional young man. He checked the car, diagnosed the problem and set about getting the car ready to be towed to my own garage of choice, which was some distance away. He secured the car very safely, made sure I was still OK and went off to my garage who, following a phone call from myself, were able to receive the car. The Patrolman also then sent me a breakdown report. I cannot fault the service I was given. These situations are always frightening and traumatic, when you know nothing about cars, and the Patrolman was able to reassure me completely. He was so professional and efficient, pleasant and courteous and the whole situation was - not exactly resolved but taken car of - in the best possible time. Thanks also to the person at the other end of the phone when I called, initially, to report my distress. A wonderful service and one I will never be without as long as I am driving.
