I have been billed twice for the same colposcopy procedure at the practice inside the Lister hospital. Despite I had asked for the quote earlier from the practice. The extra bills still come as a surprise. Be aware that the practice will NOT tell you that there will be separate bills from HCA, as the practice operate separately inside HCA Health care. I ended up paying 2 separate bills for the same procedure. One was for the practice, another for the consumables from HCA hospital. The total cost altogether was up around 2.5-3 times after my first quotation. I also find it surprising that consumables from HCA cost more than the procedure and doctor’s fees. I guess the practice and HCA operate a pricing strategy like this not to be all transparent so the patients step in. One main reason is probably that they deal mainly with the insurance companies who pay all the bills. So be warn if you are self-pay patients, asking for itemised price lists from both of them before making decision. However I do believe that there still have hidden fees that you may never heard before anyway.
