Review of RAC Breakdown Cover

Broke down at 2.30

Broke down at 2.30. Had cover through insurance, RAC had no record of this. After being kept on hold for ages(call cost me £5) whilst they contacted my insurance to verify was told would take 4 hours for recovery. 4 hours!! At this point I was causing mayhem where had broken down. I rang a friend to fetch me home and move me to somewhere safer. (thought i paid the RAC to do this). By the time a mechanic reached me(who was lovely by the way, not their fault the RAC has made so many cut backs that their jobs are now intolerable) it was dark and all the garages were shut. He had also been given the wrong vehicle details so had I not flagged him down he would have driven straight past. Absolutely appalling service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Have , to their credit received a letter of apology today saying it wasn't typical to wait this length of time.....other reviews say different.
