Don't go near Matt Johnson

We had dealings with Matt Johnson in 2020 when he was manager of Apex home improvements. Absolute con artist, did driveway on my property and my neighbours conservatory. Dreadful jobs on both and was abusive when we both complained. Took him to court but lo and behold he dissolved Apex and started trading as Zenith home improvements.
I urge everyone to steer well clear of Mr Matt Johnson. He is a con artist.

Did a dreadful job painting window ledges and stonework. Charged the earth and left a complete mess. Very pushy too!
£890 and me a pensioner…. I’m furious with myself for being conned. I should have said no at the start.

AVOID.....so unreliable.

AVOID.....so unreliable.
I booked two appointments with them and they failed to show up both times making excuses when I rang. They told me they tried to call me (from an unknown mobile number) but didn't leave a message because they "didn't want to bother me" so I had no idea who the call was from or any advance notice that they weren't going to arrive. I waited in for them on both days..... such a waste of time.

Anything to do with Matt Johnston

Anything to do with Matt Johnston, AVOID. Company will not even guarantee his windows anymore due to so many complaints.
I have a leaking porch and waters coming in from the windows. Done more damage than it was worth.

Run away....I worked for them as a manager, no customer care.... I got ripped off by them and am still owed £100s. They will fill their order books, claim bankruptcy change the company name slightly and start again, that way deposits and guarantees are wiped out. Staff are not trained they are conned by being told wages are good..if they do this to staff the customers don't stand a chance

Non-existent Customer Service / Defective Product

Purchased a bathroom cabinet. The rear panel was drilled incorrectly so of course I could not assemble it. I emailed them according to the contact information on the package insert on Sept 6. Sept 17 no response. Went to their website and sent a comment. Tried their "Live Chat" - "Sorry no operators available". Tired of companies that are too stupid to conduct reasonable QA before product goes out the door and then cannot/will not pay attention to theirt "customer service". I'm pretty sure they don't pay attention to Trust Pilot either.

Bought double glazing and new doors in…

Bought double glazing and new doors in January 2013. Pay a £100 per year plus VAT, for an annual service. To date Zenith have never been out to service our windows and doors. When I telephoned them in 2018, they said that all the service contracts had been sold to, Surrey County Council. Although I had instructed my bank to stop all annual Direct Debits, Zenith (their Bankruptcy handler) are refusing to pay the, £800, back. They are also, illegaly still taking money out of my bank account.

Worst company ever.

Worst company ever.
I paid nearly £7000 for double glazing and they destroyed all my carpets and refused to compensate for the damage.
Happy that they are done and dusted.

Shady service

Really bad customer service and don't honour quotes. Untrustworthy and instead of dealing with complaints they deny they ever dealt with you. Will Never use these people.

Used to work with them and not…

Used to work with them and not surprised they folded. There's a culture of harrassment in that company inside and out and they routinely hassle people on their doorstep as a selling tactic even if they're already existing customers.
I heard most of their staff have gone to First Home Improvements, Green Measures, & Anglian Home Improvements so best to report them to to the police if they start harassing you as they always come back every once in a while.

Zenith... GONE but not gone too far!

Not a review as such, just a warning to all.

Zenith ceased trading into October 2019, many of their staff went to different companies including Anglian Home Improvements, (Go) Green Measures and Safestyle UK.

All these companies use 'hard sell' methods, meaning you will be quoted ridiculously at first, then some discounts will be applied, before a 'manager' approves a 'final' discounted price (which will still be over the odds compared to reputable companies).

My advice.... AVOID THEM ALL!!!

If you want to use a more trusted national company, try First Home Improvements.

Firstly the good news is that are no longer trading but this is a warning incase they reincarnate themselves - again!
Poor workmanship. Had a new side to my large conservatory installed in 2014 along with a rebuilt brick pillar and EPDM roof. Slowly over the last couple of years I have been getting moss growing inside the window/door units and more recently one of the doors has become full of water - sloshes around when you open it.
I currently have in a window fix company and he has discovered concrete and rubble in the frame with the glass panes sitting on it! The drain holes are, of course, blocked by this rubble. In the other windows/doors the stoppers in the frame are blocking the drainage holes! Such shoddy work.
Stir clear of Zenith as is likely to have same individuals working with it IF they start trading again.

No damp proof course!

I had an orangery style conservatory built by them. They provided the wrong designs to the Planning department at the council which meant my neighbours objected to it. It wasn’t until I looked at the plans myself that I saw why everyone was up in arms. The builder they used was outsourced to a company based on Hayling Island. They didn’t put a damp proof course in and rain penetrated wrecking my wood floor. The walls’ paintwork started peeling up to about knee high in a very short period of time. I’ve finally brought in my own builders in to sort it. It has cost me over £3000. I have absolutely no time for this company.

One client mentioned that while the Zenith installation subcontractor was removing one of the existing first floor windows, once removed he just launched the window down into the garden with the glass shattering everywhere and the frame breaking.

I am an experienced surveyor and contract specialist who now has a number of new clients as a result of Zenith failures. They have appointed me to help them out in relation to shoddy workmanship, poor service levels, vague sales contracts, dodgy discounts mechanisms and yet still they are being continually hounded for additional money. This is despite the product provided not meeting quality standards or building regulations.

I am certain they will get a positive outcome each of them.

From reading many of the reviews on here it is easy to see customers have been badly treated and badly stung. Please be aware there are avenues of recourse for you all regardless of Zenith Home Improvements been dissolved.

Each one of my new clients have said they found it difficult to find help. Well they have now and if you need some as well just look up my name on Checkatrade

I had windows and a door fitted April 2019.
The job was messy. The fitters damaged sills that were not being replaced. No keys were provided for windows.
Had them come out again to repair the many faults that showed up.
Still not happy. After finding out the company had cone into administration I did a bit more research and contacted a company that can try to claim back costs on a no win no fee basis. this is easier if you have purchased windows with a finance agreement. It is in their hands now. Hoping for some payback now.
