They preyed on my very ill father
My late father was 82 with multiple health issues when he was recently introduced to The 79th Group. Sadly against my advice (asking why did he want to invest in a high risk scheme), he paid them £30k at end of February for one of their 'loans' with 15% annual return. He was signing one form from his hospital bed! I'd contacted them saying they were preying on a vulnerable elderly man but they didn't care, just wanted his money. He died on 30th March. I've started sorting his affairs and was horrified to find the City of London Police have been investigating this company since early March. As I'd said to my Dad "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is". He was frail physically but didn't have dementia so I couldn't stop him from making what I felt to be a bad decision, and sadly I've been proved right.
Help !!
What should investors do now? Can anybody help with what I do to try and get my money back? Is there an action group ?

Response to misinformed review
You are not even an investor, so it is baffling why you are here throwing around opinions without any stake or understanding of the situation. Your comment feels like it was made just to undermine confidence rather than offer any real insight. I have personally invested in loan notes with various company that offer over 15 percent returns, and so far, they have delivered. That does not automatically mean it is a scam or too good to be true. It simply means there are risks involved, and as an investor, I understand that. So let us not throw around accusations without facts.
Yes, they have expanded into gold mining, but they have not done it blindly. They have brought in credible industry experts like SRK to assess the viability of the mines. That is not something a reckless or fraudulent company does.
Now, am I concerned? Of course I am. No investor puts money into something and does not care about the outcome. But concern is very different from the kind of baseless fear mongering you are doing. The company recently acquired First Class Metals and passed financial due diligence in that process. That is not something you can fake. They have shown commitment to ESG. If there are delays or liquidity issues, that does not immediately imply wrongdoing. It could be market pressure, bad luck or timing. But triggering panic helps no one. It only makes a tough situation worse.
To fellow investors, yes, let us ask questions and stay cautious, but do not let yourselves be rattled by inflammatory and unfounded comments from someone who has no real involvement. I am an investor and I took this risk with my eyes open. So no, I am not blindly defending the company, but I am also not going to let fear and misinformation take over the narrative. If you are here to genuinely help, contribute something meaningful. If you are just here to stir panic, you are part of the problem.
PS - we can't post links or numbers here. Please search for me on LinkedIn and message me. I started to form a small group of investors already.
Lessons learned
Well.. So what lessons could have been learned and that you will take on board when planning your next investment. Firstly, don't put all your trust in financial advisers. They are fallible and human even though they are well meaning. But sadly, too often, they are driven only by commission (especially if they are unregulated and based in the Middle East (the two go together) where they feed on cash-rich but gullible expats (sound familiar?). Secondly, trust yourself and do your own research.. I called certain of the "Non- Execs" and "Advisers" ( listed on the (old) 79th website..). To a person, they told me not to touch 79th.. None had a good word to say about “Webster”.. Lastly - and, perhaps most importantly, if an offer (eg guaranteed returns of c 15%) appears too good to be true, IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE..!! So.. get over your loss of money - and move forward,, If you're lucky you might get 20p in the pound back.. Oh yes, and two more red flags which were - frankly - obvious. What on earth is a small-time UK based property company doing investing in failing mineral mines in Guinea and Canada.?? What skills can they possibly bring to the table?? And last, if a company is promising fantastic returns - and yet is producing ZERO profit from any of its current operations, the money is obviously coming from new investors.. And that's called - yes, you've got it - a Ponzi scheme..

SS SS how do we form the group to send the letter to the trustees? Anyone else have ideas?
Original website disappeared
Original website disappeared, emails are bouncing back, posts with comments about the current asset/loan notes freeze situation disappear. Not looking good to any of us. Let's pray hard and brace ourselves. Freezing profit, I could eventually get it, freezing capital, pretty sure thatbis against the law! Trustee fund sends email with very little to the point! Is no one held accountable?!
Action from investors required
The Trustee is awaiting instructions from the investors (A collective action preferred) as per their email
I did not receive my interest due on 24.03.2025
Alternative website is available (Points to note)
1.The investigation is not closed No answers from MOLD team
2. There are many sellers of the notes from who we bought they can/should take responsibility to gather the investors for Trustee
3. This is not a scam as described in one of the post. 15% is a normal rate which high growth companies pay for funds
4. 79th group stopped paying voluntarily, the investigation team has not blocked their funds
5. Suspicion for investors because of not paying without any reason
6. To group all investors just put your email
