We rented a villa on Amalfi Coast, Italy for two weeks. The day before our departure (group of 29) we received an email from RentVillas.com, and a series of total lies began (rentvillas said the owners of the villa would lock us out and we would not get possession of the villa if we didn’t work with them to help remedy a situation that had developed (through no fault of ours). A series of conversations with rentvilllas and our credit card company ensued, and we had to jump through hoops to gain access, even going through the credit card company that we had used for the deposit. We became good friends with the owner (whose daughter was the property manager,) and she told us they had not been contacted from anyone with rentvillas! When we returned home, we found that they had finagled our credit card company to “chargeback” our deposit of over $14,000, then our credit card company wouldn’t reverse the charge because it was over the time limit for us to file for a refund! Rentvillas.com totally cheated us out of that hard-earned money ! They are total crooks, even lying about the Italian middle man saying the owners of the villa would not allow us access to the property even though we had paid for the two weeks in full! Whatever you do, don’t do business with this company!!! They are unscrupulous crooks who are cheating their customers out of tons of money. We tried fighting this as hard as we could but our credit card company would not help us so we had to “eat” the $14,000.

We pre-paid $1,775 for an Italian villa through Rentvillas.com and two months before departure, was contacted by the CEO that they were unable to make the payment to the villa and we would need to pay the fees directly to the villa--again--if we wished to keep the reservation. Crushing, given we had saved for two years for this trip. CEO promised to reimburse us after selling some assets but it's been 5 months and he stopped responding after a couple months.

Over 30 days & unable to contact via phone , webpage & email . In dispute with major credit card company - have to wait a few more weeks before credit goes from provisional to permanent . $$$$

This company is uncontactable. I have sent E mails and messages every day for the past week, and then tried phoning from the U.K. - absolutely no response. They have my $2,000 deposit for a swiss chalet in February, but unable to contact them in any way for confirmation and arrangements.
Has this company gone bankrupt, or are they just swindlers?

They don't answers emails. Are they even still in business?

I wouldn’t even give this company 1 star! A 50% deposit (9K) was paid in April of 2022 for a villa rental on lake como Italy next august and yet is available on VRBO. Not one phone call or email has been returned since April except from my travel advisor who advised me to dispute charge with my cc company asap. Do not trust or do business with this company please!!!!!!

Taken our money & now 2 weeks before we are due to fly in, they are ghosting us. Cannot recommend

My friends and I have been planning for our 50th celebration at a villa in the Amalfi Coast, then Covid hit. We had already paid the majority of our fee but couldn't make the trip. We felt that rentvillas was more amenable toward the villa owner than our party. Needless to say, we are out over $6000 and no trip. We were told that the villa owner would only reschedule our dates for an additional (almost) $3000 for the same timeframe in 2023. We are extremely disappointed w/ both the villa owner & Rentvillas. Therefore, we cannot in good conscience recommend Rentvillas to any other party. It is a sad state.

We rented a villa in Italy. After paying in full, we were told the villa owner came under financial difficulties and the villa was sold. They offered to refund our money, I accepted that offer and have been ghosted by the numerous employees we have attempted to contact since. After the last "I'll check in with accounting on your refund"...not a word. All of this, of course, i have in writing in an email chain.

I'd give Rentvillas.com minus 5 stars if I could. This California-based company is a total ripoff. In December 2019, we booked a villa in Tuscany for a week for this past September of 2020. When Covid hit we were hopeful that by September things would pass and it would be okay to travel to Italy, but of course that didn't happen. The E.U. and Italy as a part of it, prohibited travel from the U.S. in late June. We asked for a full refund as we couldn't travel. RentVillas first said that "our money was already spent" -- one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever heard in such a situation.

Then they tried to offer us a voucher, which we refused, and then tried offering us just 40% of our rental fee as a refund, saying this was their cancellation policy. However, WE didn't cancel, we were prohibited from traveling to Italy. This was totally outrageous and unacceptable and contrary to their refund policy, which states:

"RENTVILLAS.COM is unable to honor your booking, for reasons outside of its control, including without limitation as a result of weather or other acts of god, labor disputes, or other force majeure events, or as a result of actions taken by the owner of the property, RENTVILLAS.COM will use its best commercial efforts to locate a like property at a similar price. If we are unable to locate a substitute property acceptable to you, RENTVILLAS.COM will refund any amounts actually paid by you to RENTVILLAS.COM."

Their policy says they'll refund "ANY AMOUNTS ACTUALLY PAID" not 40%. Basically, RentVillas.com was trying to perpetrate a fraud, and contrary to their own policies by keeping 60% of our money paid to them.

RentVillas.com is one of the worst travel companies I've ever dealt with. I would NEVER consider using them again.They require you pay upfront and then won't even honor their own policies. We eventually got our money back after disputing the charge on our credit card, but it wasn't an easy process.

Again, NEVER consider using this company. They are a total ripoff.

Refused to refund 25 percent of our deposit on trip to Italy after the airlines stopped flying there and the country closed down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Received full refunds from everyone else except RentVillas! They were recommended by Ric Steves ......very disappointing!!

We had a wonderful week at Villa Morella in Positano. It is a comfortable, authentic Italian villa with a gorgeous view. Location is ideal for shopping and dining.

We recently rented an Italian Villa through RentVillas. We started the process a year in advance and the representatives at RentVillas were there every step of the way! From the start, they guided us through the process and they made sure we were aware of all the additional individual charges associated with our rental. If the rep we were dealing with was not in at the time of an inquiry, another representative always got back to us in a timely manner. They made us feel very secure about our international venture and choice of property. We would highly recommend RentVillas!

Everyone at RentVillas went way beyond the term service and were incredibly helpful in assisting us plan our first trip to Italy.
We had many questions and event planning that were answered and
promptly taken care of. Everything from hotels, cars, travel tips and more.

Will not hesitate to use RentVillas again

Our experience with RentVillas was great. Not only was our rental exactly as described, our representative was great about providing info to us on things to do in the area, and also helped find drivers for us for several of our excursions. I'd definitely use RentVillas again in the future.

This villa was terrific. Stunning views, every convenience. Great location for exploring the Tuscan countryside - no more than an hour from so many different and fascinating places, from Florence to Lucca. We couldn't have asked for a better home base.

We live in Australia and I was hesitant and worried about booking thru a company I found on the internet but I can only say to you DO IT! Thru RentVilla’s.com we found an amazing villa in Tuscany to rent for my 60th birthday to share with family and friends and it was the trip of a lifetime! The process was very easy, they show photos and all the details about the villas. When you decide which one you would like to book you message them, even if you are just sending an inquiry you can message them. They are prompt at getting back to you and give you all the information you require. When you book they even give a discount for paying early and/ or in full. They keep in contact with you till your holiday and give you information re your villa and even directions to get there according to how you are travelling (car, train etc.) and from where you are arriving! When we arrived at the villa in Tuscany, the owner was waiting for us and it all went smoothly. The villa was even better than we imagined and we had an incredible time. I would not hesitate to use them again!!

I read in Conde Nast magazine that Rentvillas.com was one of the top 3 agencies for renting villas in Europe. I was looking to rent a villa in Italy for my family of 6, and explored Rentvillas.com. I was not disappointed! They are honest about their villas and totally reliable and easy to work with. I will definitely be renting from them again!

Villa Monte aka Villa Daniela Grossi gave me the vacation of a lifetime! The views were amazing, the grounds were beautiful, the rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff was beyond accommodating! Chef Andrea prepared a magnificent birthday dinner for me that was served in the garden under the lights at a beautifully decorated table. Every day of our stay we felt welcomed and at home. I couldn't have asked for more and I will never forget the time we spent there.
