I visit the branch at The Glades

I visit the branch at The Glades, Bromley, every few weeks and i hear tje same complaint that the cakes & sandwiches on display are not priced. I pay £7.80 for a medium black coffee and a small almond croissant. The is drinkable, nothing special, as is the croissant which for some reason comes with whipped cream. The place it self is clean and tidy with spaced out seats. I visit as it is one of the few places left that take cash.

Cake and No Coffee

Coffee and Cake Late at JamaicaBlue Ipswich
Or should I say cake and no coffee
I went in for a piece of cake and a simple black coffee
The cake arrived but even asking where it was the coffee didn’t arrive for twenty minutes!! And the cake was nothing to write home about

Service and food always great!!!

Service and food always great!
We visit frequently and have always found the food to be great, and now that we come often they know just how we like it!
Chef is great, and the service that Rutika gives is very warm and friendly and professional...
Thoroughly recommended 👌

It was all going so well......

Jamaica Blue Review

And it was all going so well…..

Jamaica blue is obviously good quality coffee

However, reviews must consider the context of price in proportion to quality and service.

Baring in mind, the breakfast is one of the most expensive I've ever had. The quality portion sizes and service must match your price point.

They have a lot to live up to. My review must take into consideration what I have had to pay.

I was glad they had a tap water dispenser. And the lady at the counter was very helpful at helping me choose a low carbohydrate breakfast.

It was all looking so good. I thought this could be 5* review. Then it all started going downhill.

Often businesses must decide wether pricing is going to be set at ‘treat’ or one-off visit price. Or at a every day price where you could pop by daily or multiple times in a week.
I dont think Jamaica Blue met either brief.

I'm afraid the quality of the breakfast was similar standard to
The freedom breakfast in wetherspoon for £2.99.
One may say, you get what you pay for. In this case I did not.

After taking my order, the lady at the counter said it would take about 15 mins. In total it took 33 minutes.
The first item arrived after 25 minutes.

I said the first item, as they made one of the most significant errors a restaurant can make. Delivering food for two people at different times.
You spend so much money to go out for a meal together, only to have to eat separately.

They then delivered my incomplete meal. Then my final item, arrived 3 minutes later. My wife's chicken dish only had 2 olives. So we had to ask for more.

I have attached a couple of pictures of our dishes. You can decide if you think they are worth over £14 each.

I was surpised a restaurant Serving breakfast didn't have freshly squeezed orange juice. Especially at the price point.

Sadly one of two toilets weren't working. But wasn't labelled as ‘out of order’

Restaurant owners need to understand, no matter how many times you say sorry, the fact remains that you charged me the same as if everything worked perfectly.

A free coffee or something would have been an attempt to make up for the errors.

The three main issues were:
Too expensive
Very long wait
Separate food arrival

Not many positives

The positives: modern and well laid out cafe in this recent addition to Bromley Glades shopping centre. Swift service.
Negatives: appalling over cooked scrambled eggs, not sure if powdered eggs but definitely microwaved into dry tasteless crumbs sitting on top of thin sourdough ‘toast’ which needed a steak knife to cut.
My partner’s egg and bacon ‘bagel’ was spoiled by some unidentified inedible ingredient.
Coffee was average at best.
We should have realised that the lack customers, compared with the cafe on the first floor, told its own story. Shame because the centre needs another decent cafe offering.

Wednesbury experience.

Wednesbury.
Coffee was very pleasant but quite pricey. Had a bacon and egg bagel, again pricey but it was tasty, served hot and the egg was nicely cooked.
My main concern was the one available toilet, the disabled toilet was ‘out of order’. It was pretty awful; there was water and bits of tissue everywhere. It was also devoid of toilet paper and there was a constant queue. Not an experience I shall repeat.

The coffee was good but....

The coffee was good, but the breakfast looked like it had been nuked in the microwave. When you pay over £12 for breakfast you expect good quality ... Also outside there was an loyalty card scheme (buy 5 get 1 free). Asked for a stamped loyalty card and they didn't gave any, so why display the sign?

Long waits

I appreciate it's only been open a short time but coffee is expensive and whilst cake slices are large they are also expensive. And the wait was mad considering the cakes were on the counter!

Excellent addition to Watford`s eateries.

This lively and comfortable cafe has been a favourite with me since it opened. Coffee is excellent and the menu interesting and tasty . Yesterday I discovered their cakes, also very good. The staff are always quick, courteous and professional.

Ipswich UK

Ipswich UK. The recent "Jamaica Blue" cafe addition to the high street in Ipswich is worthy of a drop-in visit. On 8th August 2025 I took a midday coffee there, and was treated to a perfectly frothy milk poured flowery design in my Latte Coffee - very welcoming. And was warmly served by the waitress, the barrister and Samad the manager of the day. Thanks to all, David.

Rushden Lakes branch - filthy

Rushden Lakes branch - although the coffee was good, the hygiene of the staff was disgusting.

Bar the young lady, all the staff's aprons were filthy and I would seriously question the hygiene rating in this store.

One member of staff kept wiping his nose on his sleeve and then continued to serve customers.

When I asked to speak to the manager, she was conveniently away.

Last visit to this pit!

Poor customer service. Nice coffee.

Jamaicablue, Richmond. I came here to write a fresh review but it appears the consensus is fairly poor already. I visited here for breakfast on 10th July. It’s fairly expensive but in the hot weather had a nice air con working so that’s the main reason we gave it a try. First impressions were that the food looked good on the menu pictures. Staff at the counter could hardly be bothered to serve us though. That aside the sausage egg brioche was ok, tough skin on the sausage which may mean they had been sat for a while. Coffee was very good, but that’s where the positives end. Overall the customer service left a lot of room for improvement. When the food was brought to the table there was no interaction from the lady that brought it and I felt a “couldn’t be bothered” attitude. Also when we left there was no interaction from any of the three staff who still looked like they wanted to be elsewhere.
My summary is reasonable but expensive food but staff made sure I won’t be back.

Watford branch, great!!

Watford branch. The best flat white I've ever had, my husband who is more of a coffee drinker (of other types of coffees) agreed. We asked for the Aussie Avo Smash without eggs (on sourdough with Spring onions, halloumi + usually it comes with egg) - and the staff member was fantastic, suggesting he'd replace the egg with a bit more halloumi. The food was nice, slightly undertoasted bread+underseasoned Avocado (personal preference) hence the 4 stars.

Today will be my last visit here…

Today will be my last visit here (Hempstead Valley). I usually go once a month and treat myself to a vegan brunch, overpriced, but I liked it. Menu has changed and nearest is a Vegetarian Brunch with now a teeny tiny amount of avocado, toast (actually not toasted) ruined by being covered in harissa paste, and served in a bowl! How can you use a knife and fork in a bowl??!
Disappointing.

Worst customer service on the planet!

Visited for a hot drink today, got luke warm milk in my drink.

Ealing Broadway They don't clarify orders with customers, then you get something you were not expecting. When the drink returned and asked for correct order, a big attitude from the "manager". She is so rude and refuses to make another drink. Then some shouty guy shows up (another manager)? and treats customers with
disrespect, literally shouts to get out.
Horrible experience!!!

Coffee but not creppy crepes Often have a coffee at the shop in…

Often have a coffee at the shop in Grand Central Toowoomba and am always happy with that plus any of the cakes and snacks presented in the display cabinet.
Today unfortunately I ordered chicken and mushroom crepes. There is no way any of this was fresh. Crepes ends were crimped, dry and hard as a dry gingernut biscuit. The chicken & mushroom filling was dryish & totally devoid of taste to the point I left about half and walked out.
I know food pre-preparation is necessary in order to provide faster service but what seemed like 2 or 3 day old crepes need to be disposed of & not served to unsuspecting customers expecting quality & value for their money.

Ealing Broadway branch

I was served by the a lady (called herself the manager)
I ordered chocolate twist i got flat white coffee. When I asked the person who brang the order to my table to change the order, they went back to the manager, who seemed unhappy. i was able to tell from her facial expression. So I went over to the till to see if there is any payment difference, she told me ( But I repeated the order to you before paying) i told her sorry I didn't hear you saying flat coffee. To be honest, I didn't hear her say that, and I wish if she was more helpful and offered to change it with a smile instead of accused me deaf. I am very disappointed with such a service
