Suitcase broken in half & no help
After flying from Amsterdam to San Juan Puerto Rico. I was disappointed to see my suitcase arriving broken in half.
At the airport there was no one who could help me. After checking Iberia's website it said I would be able to file a claim from home.
At my hotel I immediately tried to do this, but it didn't allow me to file the claim because I didn't have a pir number (which you need to get at the airport)
I wasn't able to call them because I was abroad. The first moment I was able to call I did but they told me I was too late since it happened 12 days ago.
If I was just late I would take accountability for it. But considering their website doesn't work properly. It's not fair.
THEIR FLEXIBLE TICKETS ARE A BIG JOKE
85€ to get flexible ticket
When you want to cancel the "flexible ticket" they take 35€ for "Managing Fees" + they refund only as a voucher.
Then, they take several days (4 at the moment and still waiting) to send you the voucher, enough to make the flights more expensive.
They don't want to offer any kind of compensation for this type of cases.
NEVER AGAIN
Even worse than 1*
Even worse, rude stuff, nothing was organised. They didn’t get a way to wife with suitcase, however, there were space inside until I yelled to them. Crazy, never again
Iberia never again!
Iberia is the worst! They are thieves. Even one star is too many. We had FULLY refundable tickets. It states in the reservation confirmation: Refund allowed WITHOUT a fee. When we tried to refund online, their system said online was not possible and to contact Customer Service, which we did. They have charged us a fee of EUR 35/person, i.e. a total of EUR 70, to refund the two tickets. I have had to contact them several times before they even processed the refund. This cannot be legal!
Money lost
Paid for my flight, payment went through but didn't receive a confirmation. Called them and they said they would pay the money back. 2 months later, 4 calls in and still NO money back. Please spare yourself the headache and book your flight with another airline. I've been reading that this has been happening a lot. How is it possible that people pay and then don't get their money back if the booking hasn't gone through?! I can't wrap my head around this. If this isn't robbing people of their money, then I don't know what is. And this is an airline...! Come on, do better.
Baggage Delayed, Items Stolen, and Zero Accountability
I had one of the worst experiences with Iberia Airlines, and I feel other passengers deserve to know how they handle baggage issues.
I flew from Madrid to Amsterdam. When I arrived, my checked luggage was delayed for several days. When it finally showed up, it had clearly been opened, and several items were missing — including expensive foods that I had carefully packed.
I immediately filed a claim and provided all the required documentation. After weeks of waiting and follow-ups, Iberia refused to take responsibility, hiding behind their “policy” to say they don’t compensate for “perishable or fragile items.” They completely ignored the fact that my baggage was tampered with and items were stolen — which is not about perishables at all, but about security and accountability.
They also argued that since I was returning home, they wouldn’t compensate me for the delay — a reasoning that’s both illogical and contrary to international law (the Montreal Convention). After multiple polite messages and even a phone call, their only response was to repeat the same excuses and offer a minimal payout that didn’t even cover the damage.
I travel often, and I understand that baggage issues happen — but what matters is how an airline handles them. In this case, Iberia failed completely. The lack of transparency, responsibility, and empathy was shocking.
I paid €1714.60 via iDEAL for two…
I paid €1714.60 via iDEAL for two one-way tickets from Havana to Amsterdam in July 2025. The payment was successfully processed and debited from my account, yet I never received any confirmation, booking, or tickets.
After contacting Iberia, they admitted they’ve had recurring problems with iDEAL payments, but still refused to take any real responsibility. For months now, I’ve been going in circles with their “support” team, repeating the same information over and over. They keep asking for flight numbers and booking details that I obviously never received, because they never delivered the service I paid for.
I provided full bank proof showing the payment, but Iberia keeps stalling, saying “contact your bank” while refusing to issue even a simple confirmation that they didn’t receive the funds. My bank is now investigating, and I’ve involved legal support and the European Consumer Centre (ECC) to recover my money.
This entire process has been unprofessional, frustrating, and deeply disappointing. Iberia shifts blame instead of helping customers, a company of this size should not treat people this way.
Avoid Iberia if you value your money and peace of mind.
Luggage was delayed for over a week and…
Luggage was delayed for over a week and I had to buy toiletries and products I use that were in the luggage. The claim was rejected and not even a good will gesture for the inconvenience. We had to wait over an hour at the airport looking for the luggage and had to arrange to work from home to receive the luggage- the luggage arrived at midnight!
This airline does not know customer service and does not value its customers- AVOID!!!
Bait and switch - beware
Beware if you book a flight through them that's operated by Vueling - your Oneworld status is completely void even if it has an IB flight number. Total bait and switch.
Delayed luggage
Delayed luggage
Got a confirmation mail from IBeria to pay 167€ on August 29, payment within 5-10 days
We are October…still waiting for the money
Bad communication sometimes no answer at all.
Not even Client Director or CEO…
Worst flight ever!
We had 4 hours flight with seat that account move at all and everything including water was for charge only!
Incorrect info x3 - waiting almost an hour to speak with a supervisor
I have spoken with 3 different representatives and received 3 different responses regarding early seat selection. After the 3rd different response , I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was transferred and am currently on hold now for more than 30 minutes . Let be LOUD AND CLEAR - THIS IS THE WORST AIRLINE I HAVE EVER USED ! I’ve been. Traveling internationally for more than 30 years and their customer service is horrible !!
Iberia is a LIAR and a Thief and should be CANCELLED
Can we give zero stars and actually have the website work and get our reimbursement?
Got downgraded to economy class when premium class was paid for. Was told that I would automatically get the difference back. Iberia employees have lied over and over again. Then missed my connecting flight. It’s been over a week and the website still doesn’t let any complaints to be filed.
Denies boarding and compensation
Paid for return flights from Manchester to Lima and back to Manchester, when we got to Manchester we learned that there was an issue with the tickets and our reservation was not created. Basically we paid for the tickets but they did not have us on the passenger list. Luckily the guy at the check-in desk was able to contact Iberia head office in Madrid to create us another reservation and we got on the flight.
We then got told while in Peru that while the same issue existed for our return flights, we would be able to get it fixed the same way when we got to the airport. However, when we tried to check in in Lima, we were informed that the flight was overbooked and that they could not create a reservation for us and basically told us we could not get on the flight.
Then instead of offering assistance with rebooking or a refund, they told us to go to LATAM (we booked through LATAM but Iberia was the operating airline and therefore responsible for assisting us) and refused to help us any further and basically leaving us stranded in Peru (luckily LATAM managed to get us home with only a 2-hour delay, despite nearly leaving 4 hours later than planned).
Later when we contacted Iberia for compensation for denied boarding under EU261 regulations, they kept changing the reason why we were denied boarding and refusing to honour their obligations.
Worst customer care ever, worst overall service package I've ever experienced, even Air Canada was not this bad.
I would never fly with them again
I paid for a seat to get more leg room on a flight however, once I checked in the seat I was given was not the one I paid for. When I questioned this I was told they've sold the seat multiple times in error. I was then delayed over 24 hours after this.
When emailing them their operatives were uncooperative. I was offered compensation for all of this eventually. However, once the money reached me the amount was only half of what was offered which just about reimbursed the seat. After much back and forth trying to get an answer I got a reply saying that they had "accidentally" offered me too much compensation and that the amount i got was correct.
THEY STOLE THE STUFF INSIDE MY BAG
THEY STOLE THE STUFF INSIDE MY BAG. Not only did they lose my piece of luggage and arrived 4 days later, but they also stole a puffer, a pair of shoes and a sweatshirt. These assholes are SCAMMERS. DO NOT FLY IBERIA. Worst customer care ever, worst overall service package I've ever experienced.
6 delayed luggages on July 26 from…
6 delayed luggages on July 26 from Madri to San Juan…calls, mails, stress, shopping basic items for cruise departures. Although Iberia coworker In San Juan promised a refund of expenses made they only pay 2/3..Paument still not done, due to amount of mails, technical issue, problem with the system, always excuses … we have sent about 15 mails and calls .. customer service covers themselves through standard mailings…even two mails to client and Loyalty director miss BEATRIZ GUILLEN without any answer..
Still have another booking with Iberia but it will be my last one…enough flight operators who really care about their clients … There’s a Gloria Estefan song with a perfect theme for Iberia…Mi Tierra…come back to earth…
Iberia è una compagnia da evitare. LADRI LEGALIZZATI

Iberia is an airline to avoid.
For over a month I’ve been trying to get the €600 I am legally entitled to for a missed connection and more than 24 hours of delay, and they keep rejecting my claim with no reason. They are nothing but legalized thieves, only wasting customers’ time and shifting responsibility. Their so-called “customer service” doesn’t exist: just a wall of automated replies and zero solutions. An airline like this should not even be allowed to operate in Europe. Absolute disgrace.
Third time that Iberia changes the time…
Third time that Iberia changes the time of my flights and puts them at 7 in the morning instead of late afternoon. Feels like this might be deliverate. I can get the money back but tickets are so much expensive now (I normaly buy tickets quite ahead so that I get ok prices) that this will cost me a lot of money. I am afraid that I will go to other hopefully more reliable companies next time.
Very punctual
I really don't know if sooner or later I may have some bad experience with Iberia as tons os people have reported here. But so far, having had flights from Madrid x Sao Paulo and Madrid x Rio, and vice versa, I can't say one sigle bad word about them. I live in Berlin, fly a lot, and I have to say that this is definitelly the most punctual air company I've been flying in Europe. It's even getting 5 to 15 earlier in the destinies. The food in the transatlantic flights is amazing and I could watch the current Oscar nominated movies during the journey. The cabin crew is friendly and polite (totally different than crew from Germany, for example...). For the moment, I can't give less than 5 starts.
