Worst car buying experience - AVOID!!

Buying from Grange Prestige Cars has been one of the worst consumer experiences of my life.

Harry sold me a car with a serious oil leak and timing chain/tensioner issue, neither of which were disclosed at the time of purchase. He bragged about a “50-point inspection” on all their cars, yet when pressed, couldn’t produce a single report – instead claiming they “only get told about faults.” I suppose a major oil leak and timing chain issues simply weren’t bad enough to mention?

When I reported the problems, they initially offered to pay for repairs. I obtained a professional quote, but Tom deemed it “too expensive” and instead insisted on collecting the car so their own mechanic could “put it right.” After days of chasing, I was told the timing tensioner and cam cover gasket had been replaced – but the sump gasket, which my mechanic identified as the real source of the leak, was ignored.

After keeping the car for 8 days, they returned it in the most unprofessional way imaginable: at 2am, without warning, posting the keys through my letterbox. This gave me no opportunity to inspect the vehicle before taking it back. It felt less like customer service and more like they were sneaking away from responsibility. Unsurprisingly, the oil leak remained – and was actually worse than before.

When I pushed for a proper resolution, their response was insulting. They offered me a refund £1,000 less than I paid, simply because I had driven 2,000 miles – as though I should pay for their dishonesty and incompetence. To add insult to injury, they outright refused to cover the full cost of repairs, leaving me to deal with faults that were clearly present when they sold me the car.

This is not the conduct of a professional or trustworthy dealership. It is the behaviour of a business that cuts corners, hides behind excuses, and shows no integrity whatsoever once they’ve taken your money.

If you are even considering buying from Grange Prestige Cars, think again. They embody everything that gives used car dealers their dreadful reputation: deception, shoddy workmanship, evasive tactics, and shameless exploitation of customers.

I am now escalating this to Trading Standards and preparing legal action. Save yourself the stress, the cost, and the regret – stay well away from Grange Prestige Cars.

GPC was my first choice

The reason I went back to GPC for my recent upgrade is because of the outstanding experience I had with them the last time I visited. They went above and beyond to ensure I got the perfect car, and the one I purchased was absolutely fantastic. The level of service I received was second to none, and I knew that if I needed an upgrade, GPC would be my first choice.

Great buying experience

The new Mitsubishi Space Star ticks all the boxes for me, it’s perfect whether I need it for work or personal use. From the moment I saw it, I knew it was the right choice. The car is practical, reliable, and exactly what I was looking for. The purchase experience was refreshing, as the team at the dealership never applied any pressure. They made sure I felt comfortable throughout the whole process, from start to finish. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and really took the time to understand my needs. I felt at ease every step of the way. I couldn’t be happier with my new vehicle and the excellent service I received. It’s a great car, and the great buying experience only added to the satisfaction.

I brought a BMW from Grange Prestige…

I brought a BMW from Grange Prestige Cars back in July. From the very start the communication was poor.
The day came to collect the car so I made my way to the garage which was about 1 hour and a half drive, pulled on the forecourt and to my surprise the car wasn’t there. I rang to find out that the car had been taken in for an MOT. I waited around until the MOT was done. Harry pulled up and said that on the way back the wing mirror glass had fallen out and the work that they hadn’t had chance to do the work that they promised to do. (Missing AC button and Loose tray).
Having not had the best of experiences I decided to take the car to a local garage about a couple of months after purchasing who were surprised that my car had passed a MOT recently. Worn brake pads and discs , both track rod ends shot. Which I had replaced there and then. The garage also informed the flexi hose was gone and needed replacing.
I contacted the warranty company that Grange sold me to be advised that none of the work was covered . So I contacted Grange who advised me to bring the car so they could run a diagnosis on it. I advised that the fault wouldn’t show up on a diagnostic but could give them a report from the mechanic but just got an email back repeating what they had said. Do at my cost again I got the work done. Thinking this is it the car is up to standard but it wasn’t.
The car had a rattle so I took it to the garage and they run another diagnostic to find that the swirly glad needed replacing, again at my cost I got the work done. I pulled the car off the garage and the engine management light came on. I have now found out that 3 glow plugs need replacing and 2 sensors on the exhaust. Again this will be at a cost to myself.
I have spent £2500 pound up to this point on a car that had passed an MOT with no advisories. Very suspicious to me.
PLEASE BE AWARE WHEN BUYING A CAR FROM GRANGE PRESTIGE CARS

Avoid

Please read my detailed review on google, sold a faulty car, refused to even check it let alone repair or replace, warranty is worthless as it doesnt cover an engine fault (timing chain)?! Avoid.

Will not refund faulty car.

Purchased a car from them which was riddled with faults, despite them stating they had done a full mechanical and electrical test.

Taking it to a mechanic they have confirmed that the car is not roadworthy, and would fail its MOT on multiple counts.

They have constantly refused to honor their statutory obligations and provide a refund. Avoid at all costs.
