Take lots of photos on pickup
This is a retrospective review.
Twice in the past I have been provided with a car by my breakdown insurance.
Twice it has been from Enterprise. I guess they must be cheap to insurers.
Both times I was given the hard sell about how much I need their expensive CDW insurance. About twenty minutes of it each time.
Both times the cars seemed fine to me. Clean enough, smart enough, and they worked.
Both times I used my phone to take photos of the car from all angles when picking it up.
Both times the cars were supplied with "no recorded defects".
Both times when inspected at drop-off (at different depots), they found defects. Small ones, but apparently very expensive ones
When I looked carefully at my timestamped photos, there were the "new" defects visible when I collected the car.
I didn't have to pay because I had proof, but what about their next victim?
I need a hire car again tomorrow. I was offered one, for free, from Enterprise. I declined.

Southend enterprise are absolutely useless and will let you down 5 minutes before you collect from then they wait 10 days to refund you lol wouldn’t recommend to anyone #AVOID
Avoid pre-booking with this Enterprise at all cost
We booked with Enterprise Tradeston, Glasgow, planning to drive through the Scottish Highlands. Everything, hotels and itinerary, was booked well in advance.
On the day of collection, just a couple of hours before pickup, Enterprise suddenly informed us that no cars were available and simply cancelled our confirmed booking.
This raises some serious questions:
•What does a confirmed booking even mean at Enterprise?
•Does it mean you deliberately overbook your vehicles and cancel at random on the day?
•If customers cancel, we are charged a penalty. Why isn’t Enterprise penalized when it cancels confirmed bookings and ruins plans?
This cancellation wrecked our trip. We lost our entire first day stuck in a hotel instead of exploring the Highlands.
And it gets worse - it’s been over 45 days, and I still haven’t been refunded the charged amount. Multiple phone calls to both the branch and HQ, and each keeps blaming the other. If you can’t automatically refund a cancelled booking, you probably shouldn’t be doing business.
To top it off, every conversation with Marc or other staff members at the branch was dripping with a weird feel of attitude, as if they were doing us a favour by even responding. The tone, the attitude — absolutely unprofessional.
We are now raising this charge as fraudulent with Amex (thankfully we used that card) to get it removed.
A “confirmed” booking at Enterprise means nothing. Avoid Enterprise Tradeston Glasgow at all costs. They ruined our trip, wasted our money, and treated us with complete disregard. Go with Europecar Airport instead — they saved our trip with flawless service and an immediate replacement car.

EDIT: The information provided below in the company reply is useless as it again makes me do the same thing that I have already done multiple times with no result. Clearly, no solution comes out of speaking with any Enterprise team member, whether at the location or online support.

I got full insurance through these…
I got full insurance through these guys. For a car rental. I got a flat tyre found out the towing company charged £1750 for the tow and that was my whole insurance. Then I had to pay for the tyre . 5 weeks later got another £98 for recovery and storage. Don’t know what recovery and storage they are talking about. We got towed to the yard by a passer-by . Then waited for his guy in the tow truck to take us to get a tyre . Stay clear .
Don't trust the reservation system
The system took my requirements for a van from Mansfield. It checked its database, offered me a list of vehicles, took my money, confirmed my booking - then 20 minutes later, I got a call to say they had no van. No suggestion of helping me find one - just a refund. The agent claimed that the central reservation system will always take a booking, even when there are no suitable vehicles available. A complete shower - avoid.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Hammersmith branch request that you leave the vehicle after use in a nearby street. They will then make you liable for any parking ticket received after this time and before the following day even though the vehicle is back in their possession. Endless emails and phone calls and still no further forward.
Do not hire from this company
Do not hire from this company - they are looking for any signs of damage so they can charge you the excess of £1750!
An absolute disgrace.
Fuming yet again Enterprise have…
Fuming yet again Enterprise have whipped money out my account without my knowledge. They have done this several times without my permission. They never send a receipt or tell you prior to taking the money. They also do it just after 5.30 so you can't call them and your left raging overnight.
Absolute cowboys
Nearly 2 months later.
Booked a van a fortnight in advance, turned up on the day,no suitable van available. These things happen not happy but said they would return advance payments. No refund was forthcoming, contacted customer complaints on chat said up to 30days to refund, this came and went. Emailed them, sorry they said refund within 5 days, guess what no refund. Emailed again to escalate it, sorry refund will be done in 5 days. There we have it still no refund. It's not just underhand and bad practice it's borderline crooked. Scunthorpe branch.
The worst experience I have ever had…
The worst experience I have ever had with a company, absolute disgrace. I Hired a van in July from Enterprise Sheldon to take my family away to Devon on holiday. I realised at the services on the way that the van had a spare tyre fitted that could legally only travel 50 miles at 50mph. This vehicle had clearly not been checked by staff prior to providing it to me. Had to travel to Devon from the midlands at 50mph on the motorway. It then took the company the whole week to get someone to travel down to me to replace the van, in which time I subsequently lost days of travel on holiday with my family due to the spare tyres limited travel capability, ruining the holiday. To top it off, they told me that the van needed a service as well while I had it on holiday, and we're initially asking me to take it to get serviced at a location of their choosing. I had to constantly chase all of this up whilst on holiday.
The staff member that collected the van from me then accrued a parking fine on the way back. I was charged a £35 admin fee for this, which I have still not been reimbursed after almost three months, despite contacting the manager, Omar, several times and being told it is being sorted.
Omar reimbursed the fee for the van to myself, and offered a free rental, but quite frankly this is the least the company could do for allowing a vehicle that is clearly not fit for purpose to be rented to a family with young children travelling hundreds of miles.
The customer service is a disgrace, numerous times I have had to constantly chase these issues up, with management not getting back to me when promised. Avoid this company at all costs as they clearly don't take safety into consideration before renting to customers.
Complete and utter fraudulent scam…
Complete and utter fraudulent scam artists. I had the car for 1 day as my car was broken I did one round trip of 34kms they said i scratched it even though i emphatically know i didn't the "manager" went into my account without providing any proof and took 2700 out of my account before id even left Shannon Airport. They have a terrible, awful attitude and are indeed scam artists. I will be fighting this charge every step of the way.

Cheers to Dom and Dan who made a same day booking reliable and easy service to use.
All bookings over the last few years have been great.
Rented a vehicle
Rented a vehicle, they kept my money when I returned the vehicle. Made up some crap story regarding how they needed to keep my deposit.
Amy has an awful attitude, Ben is the second in command and neither should have any authority behind them . Awful experience from them both, such horrendous attitudes and basically will never rent a vehicle through this branch ever again!

Ordered a van on line the same day I needed it. The Enterprise system allowed me to pay for the vehicle but when I turned up to pick it up was told that they didn't have one available!!!!!!!!
Why oh why then did their booking system allow me to pay for it??
So I contact the shop and they dont have my reference number to hand stupidly I had deleted the e-mail as I was told that money wouldn't be requested by them until the vehicle had been released.
When I finally found y reference number and let them know was told it would take two weeks for MY money to be returned.
Totally unprofessional and won't ever use Enterprise again. Steer clear if you pardon my pun.

One of the things that really shows a lack of respect from enterprise staff is when they start calling you ‘mate’ during their phone calls. I’m not your ‘mate’ I am your customer and my custom pays your wage! Show some respect to your customers!
The car was great, service isn't
The car was great, people okay, but policy worst or misleading. They say Enterprise the company which picks you up, a BIG FAT lie.
Great, friendly service
The usual excellent service from Enterprise. The staff were accommodating and communication is always excellent!
Ace Weston-Super-Mare Team!
Weston-Super-Mare branch
They provide the most amazing service and flexibility throughout! Super friendly welcome, smooth handover and ready to accept returns after hours, when available. I strongly recommend this A team 😄
CONS STAY WELL AWAY
They complete cons i rented a van for a day went around it pointed out the marks and broken light lens to the girl she said ok they were minor things then take van back to be blamed for the light lens and they kept deposit of £200 and said it might cost me another 2500 as I did not take all the extras they try get you have .and guess what the girl who took notes of damage is off work and they could not ring her as it's her day off which is rubbish and its going take 14 days to sort out .well for 2500 I will take it court so would advise anyone who they pulled this trick on to do same
