Tough diced fillet pieces
Ordered diced fillet pieces as i wanted to be sure that the meat was tender in my dish. None of the pieces remotely resembled the photo on their website - they were a lot of small scraggy pieces (some of which I didn't even use) and although I cooked the dish slowly for 2 1/2 hrs (as i always do for this dish) some of the pieces were so tough they were inedible. Very disappointing.
Poor response.
Lousy customer service.
24hour delay to delivery. RTA, maybe acceptable but no communication from DR or FEDEX though they claim all affected customers were contacted. NOT TRUE. 40 minutes on chat line trying to find out what was going on, NO ANSWER
Email about whether the food was still OK, IGNORED.
Poor service leads to lost customer and reduced sales and profit. SIMPLE ECONOMICS REALLY.

“Rolled shoulder of Lamb”. First time buying this cut and definitely won’t be buying this again. By the time I cut all the fat off there wasn’t much lamb left ( which was very chewy ) therefore no nice slices and our dinner looked like scraps. A most unenjoyable dinner for my family. I have sent a review with pictures to DR website three times in the last 10 days or so but it has never been printed and no response from them either.

Great service
I’ve been ordering for a few months and had a good variety of meat, vegs and desserts.
The food is really well packaged and great quality.
I’m a silver member in the butchers club so get great discounts, vouchers each time I shop.
Last week we had some steak that was really tough. It’s the first time I’ve had something that’s not been right. I sent an email to explain how surprised I was that this steak was tough and I got a reply within a few hours. Rhia was going to sort this out. True to her word she emailed me later on and added a credit onto my account for both steaks. I was very happy and by the way our three dogs loved the steak we could eat so it didn’t go to waste.

Ordered Rack of Lamb, Beef Wellington and Chateaubriand. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The meat was absolutely fantastic, the delivery and packing was perfect. This will be the first of many orders from me. Top class supplier.
Photos look better than the reality
When my delivery arrived I couldn’t believe it,the fillet steaks were so small I could have used them as earrings,the partridge fillets would be good as a sandwich filler, pork steaks were small. Pork ribs were a good portion. Meatloaf I would eat it on my own,not much bigger than the burgers. Really disappointed will not order again and I will support my local butcher

Delivery company they use are useless
I can't comment on the quality of the food as it did not turn up on expected date. I am a new customer who ordered mid week for delivery following Tuesday as wanted for our anniversary on the Wednesday. Fedex sent message will be delivered on Tuesday by midday. I checked there tracking and stuck at there warehouse in Aberdeen so not going to make midday. I contacted FedEx who said not sure why but still at that warehouse and cannot say when will be delivered. I contacted customer service who agreed to a full refund. That I am grateful for however I wish I had read the reviews about FedEx on here as would not have ordered. FedEx themselves have bad reviews so not sure why this company has moved to them. I will not be ordering from Donald Russell again due to the choice of delivery company. Two stars is for customer service and delivery only. I cannot comment on quality of food.

Always have delivered the right order on time.
Some of their food is not the best quality for the price e.g. steak (Costco are better and cheaper). But overall a good provider.
Quality meat products. Very happy!
Placed a large order using many of the offers they had. My order was delivered 2 days later well packed and still perfectly frozen. The meat we have tried so far has been of excellent quality. I am very pleased I gave them a second try and will continue to use them. You can really tell the difference to supermarket meat.
I very rarely write a damming review
I very rarely write a damming review, but after 17 years of giving my custom/money to Donald Russell, I am totally disgusted with the way I have been treated. Firstly I complained about a chicken which looked and smelled bad. I even took photographs and they agreed that it was inedible, refunding me my money. Then, a month ago I put a chicken back on my regular order only to once again put it straight into the bin, without cooking as once out of the bag it did not look nor smell like a fresh chicken. I sent an email, to just bring it to their attention and then I was insulted by a phone call, with a young woman stating that it is not unusual for fresh chickens to smell in such a way. She actually said that it was obvious chicken is not for me. Whilst I agree, I would suggest, not a chicken from Donald Russell at all, hence I asked them to remove my details from their database. I was furious. I then wrote to a Mr. Ken Clow, Chief executive who stated, and I quote 'we regret that we were unable to meet your expectations (what an insult) and then he goes on to say, 'wish you a much better experience with future services elsewhere'. Perhaps I am over reacting but after 17 years to be dismissed in such a way is beyond belief. I most definitely go back to Donald Russell again and would like to thank Mr. Clow for bringing to my attention what a bigoted company they are. I have searched the web and have found a company who score 4.9 on Trustpilot so my hard earned money will now go else where. I just needed this opportunity to vent my spleen. No response required Donald Russell. I have definitely drawn a line through future communication.

I ordered a meal for a celebration birthday and was recommended to use this company. I ordered the items well in time for the day. I was informed that delivery would be made on the day I had requested which was my husband's birthday. That day came and went and no food was delivered. I contacted the company to tell them the situation. The goods eventually arrived a day late the birthday had been and gone. The food in the box had began to defrost and was not safe to eat. I contacted the company again and spoke with Nicky who was most helpful, courteous and professional. The matter was sorted by her and concluded. I will order from this company again because of the good back up support service that I was given.
Tough meat and gristly
Bought chuck steak from DR and found steak very gristly. Had to give to dog.

FEDEX-What a shambolic mess
Have used Donald Russell for years and have had no problems at all with delivery when they were using DHL as their couriers.
When you order, you choose the day of delivery and this was always adhered to BEFORE they decided to change courier to FEDEX. I ordered Sunday for delivery Tuesday, received the FedEx delivery email but then, just after 5pm on the Tuesday ( when customer services at DR close) they said it would now be Wednesday. On the Wednesday two differing emails for FEDEX saying two different times for delivery, HOWEVER, no delivery…finally arrived defrosted on the THURSDAY. I could see from the tracking that it left on the Monday so this was now virtually 4 days in transit.
Complained and was offered a priority Friday morning delivery of new goods, once again FEDEX SENT TWO DIFFERING TIMES but their priority means before 12pm, however it arrived after 3pm!!
Whoever at DR drafted this contract with FEDEX will ultimately be the demise of Donald Russell, even the £15 they offered me for all the inconvenience is only a credit that I have to spend with them rather than a refund.
Cut your losses DR and get out of using FEDEX or your customers may walk away.

Please be aware that Donald Russell have changed courier to Fedex.
I have been a loyal customer for years, and have always had DR's first rate products delivered on time by DHL.
My scheduled delivery did not arrive at all yesterday, let alone in the time window.
Still waiting (Day 2) for frozen products to arrive.
On telephoning DR accepted my feedback, but insisted they are staying with Fedex.
Don't expect a reliable delivery service.
Edit: Meat arrived a day and a half late. All dry ice had expired. Meat was just beginning to defrost..

Frozen without my knowledge
My order came today. All frozen. The fact that it doesn’t state clearly and obviously on the site that the meat arrives frozen is pretty disgraceful. You have to go into descriptions to find the word frozen. I’ll not be buying from them again. Overpriced and deceitful. Years ago butchers were as reputable as dodgy car salesmen. Things haven’t changed. I really hate it when an online purchase isn’t what it seems.

Delivery 5 days after it left….
Failed to deliver and now the courier service they use is going to deliver food 5 days after it left their factory.
Booked for a delivery today, FedEx sent an email saying between 8.30-12.30, then changed the tracking to before 6pm. Live chatting with Ava at Donald Russell who said delivery would be before 6, and then stopped the live chat whilst I was asking another question as it was home time. Delivery failed to arrive, now saying they will deliver on Monday!!!! 5 days after it left.
Was a long term customer, want a refund and won’t be back. Shame as the food itself is good, but let down by poor service

Some items arrived with the packaging burst open so had to be discarded. Trying to speak on online chat is impossible, couldn’t get through by phone so emailed as suggested. Still waiting on a response and it’s been nearly 3 weeks since my email. What a waste and not cheap either
