Crap company

1 star far too high. Hotpoint heat pump tumble dryer crap. 6 + repairs in 13 months. Refused to replace machine. Threatened by customer service. Foreign idiot claimed to be a top lawyer and worked for trading standards ( Tea boy or toilet cleaner) Obviously excellent at his job now working in a call centre. Became Abusive shouting over me and then hung up. This company is a joke.

Absolute shit show of a service…

Absolute shit show of a service company. I’ve been left for the last seven day without heating and hot water as they have not got the parts to repair the job. Left in sub zero temperatures called several time email several time assured some one would get intouch. Had nothing, having to rely on hotels, friend, family and sports centre to get washed whilst paying for the last 5 year to the shower. Do not take out any policy’s with this company. Useless. No stars

Sorry that i need to give a star, thats way to much

Sorry that i need to give a star, they dont deserve it. You will pay your monthly fee, if your product gets broken you wont get a fixed product back.you will wait weeks (if you are lucky, it also can be months). If your product arrives, it will be still broken. A normal person will cancel the contract after this expierience. Im still in this status because i got ghostet from them. I dont recivce answers to questions. They still charge my, my cancellation never gets confirmed. In my opinion its really crazy that companys like this can exists. Its A MASSIVE SCAM!!!!!!!!!

Not worth the monthly fee

.. initial phone call out was placed under a tumble dryer but was in fact a washing machine. Lost a days pay for their mistake waiting for the engineer

.. engineer was rebooked. He came to the door said sorry but I can’t do anything Iv just ordered the part (which should have been done before arriving. Another days pay lost for their mistake

Called to see when engineer can come out again to fix ordered part. Part takes up to 3 weeks to arrive then 28 days to allow for a refit.

Costing a fortune up to (70-80 pound a week) in laundry bills especially with young children work uniforms and daily laundry… so decided to make a complaint. Complaint made Iv now been told it can take upto 8 weeks for my complaint to be dealt with

Company is a joke and probably not worth the monthly fee and better off just buying new

fantastic service everytime

fantastic service everytime I have had to call them out. Problem fixed that day. I phoned in panic about 6.45 on a Saturday night and they came out the following Thursday. Lovely engineer, prompt, police and very helpful. I use Domestic & General for all my appliences and never had a problem. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

cooker broke down …

cooker broke down sent engineer out said that a board was broke needed new one they came and put that in he went away went to use cooker that night wouldn't work 3rd visit found that it wasn't even that part it was a bit on the back of cooker which the first engineer if he had looked at the back of cooker might of found no 5 weeks with out a cooker so new part needed and ordered which which was a week away ring up and complain so now we told that cooker will be a write off as we now been 6 week with out , so we sent a list of new cookers that we can have , we dont think these are like for like so we agree to pay £175 extra to get what we want told a delivery date of last Friday we then get text from delivery company saying please book delivery slot ring up to say no its Friday they so no so ring dom & genral they so no it was an estimated date our email /text dont say that so in total we had 3 days off work now need to be 4 also arranged for cooker to be fitted on Saturday had to cancel that now cant get him back till next saturday so this will be two months with out a cooker what great service

AVOID THIS COMPANY
Absolutely shocking. If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Phoned to get a price to replace bearings on a Hoover washing machine & was sold a policy for £21.40/month.
Engineer attended a week later just to confirm that the fault was the bearings.
2 weeks later an engineer arrived without parts & when I phoned D&G they gave me stories which were contradicted by others as I was passed from pillar to post.
Booked in for 2 weeks later, but then received a cancelation message on morning of appointment.

Wast of time ...... Takes ages to answer call then u speak to someone who can't speak English very good told them I can't log into my account they just said OH OK NEVER MIND! Booked a repair was told get email to confirm but didn't so phoned yet again and was told who dealt with me didn't book it in and u have to wait well over a week to get someone out service is bad customer service is even worse can't speak to anyone to complain avoid if possible and there only got a one star cuz I had to

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL.TRUST PILOT SITES FOR D & G INSURANCE. IT HAS BEEN NOTICED NEGATIVE ONES ARE EXCLUDED ON SOME TP SITES, BUT APPEAR TO BE HERE UNDER D & G GERMANY!! I AM IN THE UK JUST TO CLARIFY AND MY EXPERIENCE TOOK PLACE IN THE UK
I've given one star because I can't give a minus. Absolutely diabolic, lying and scheming company. No washing machine since 27th December. Take your money via DD, send you a text saying they'll send engineer in 7 days to repair your washing machine ( 3rd Jan) so you wait and struggle and then they don't turn up or notify you and you only find out when you chase them to find you were never going to be allocated an engineer because you'd been put in the wrong box?!!!!.even though online it states your request is in progress! No apology, no compensation for rearranging hospital appointments and everything else and all they offer you after THEIR error is another 7 days wait Staff lie, put the phone down on you, promise you a new machine, tell you they are new to the job so not sure what to do, put you on hold for over half an hour at 7p a minute, pretend they can't hear you and then tell you a washing machine repair can take 28 days so can you get to a laundrette!!!! Complained to CEO ignored but Q. GARDENER called in very condescending fashion to tell me ( 3 days after finally escalating my complaint) to tell me exactly what I'd already been told that I had to wait another 7 days. Told her I wasn't happy ( without swearing mind) and she said she didn't like my tone and threatened to cancel my cover. I told her I wish she would cancel it as its the biggest waste of money I've ever paid out for a non existent service not to mention rude and useless staff and just found out today she has already cancelled my cover. Getting legal advice now. Its the principal. I'm the customer and you'd think I hadn't paid for the cover the way they treated me. Still no washing machine but still have text saying they'd be here 3rd January!!!! AVOID!!! THESE PEOPLE LIE AND DON'T TURN UP WHEN THEY TEXT YOU THEY WILL, THEN DONT EVEN LET YOU KNOW THEY CANT MAKE THE APPOINTMENT, THEN THEY TRY TO MAKE OUT ITS YOUR FAULT AND YOU'RE MAKING A FUSS OVER NOTHING AND IT COULD TAKE 28 DAYS SO BE GRATEFUL AND SHUT UP BECAUSE 14 DAYS IS GREAT!!! Woeful customer service
Just had my call back after my initial dealings with the (I assume) South Africa call centre.
You can see where they get their couldn't give a toss attitude
Policy cancelled. Couldn't really give any other feedback than Avoid these people at all costs just save up the money each month you'll probably save cash in the end paying for a repair

Dishonest, pressure sellers

Rang them (unknowingly) to activate my 10 year warranty on an Ideal boiler. What started of as routine and okay, rapidly descended into one of the most hard sell and dishonest calls I've ever had. I put in a complaint and was told I would hear back in 3-5 working days, but did not. When I tried calling their customer service number, I eventually got an answer after 20 minutes before being put on hold and then transferred back to customer service before being put on another hold (58 minutes at this point) to then be told they would have to call me back. I did learn that they'd closed my original complaint (no reason given). Incompetent

Where can I start

Where can I start. They are absolutely awful. They don’t even deserve 1 star. Don’t use them. They don’t even care that they give disgusting service, they don’t even reply to these reviews!!!
I have been trying to get a link to order a replacement cooker. Apparently, they email it every single time I call, which has been 5 times and still no email link. Every time I ask to speak to management apparently they are in a meeting. Constant liars!!!!
They money we all spend every month, we are better off putting the money to one side and that will cover repairs or replacements as if they replace they want to give you crap anyway

What a horrible company this is

What a horrible company this is. I purchased the cover for my washing machine. Paid the premium for 5 years and when it broke down...its been 1 month and nothing has happened. Everytime I call they pass me on from one department to another. This is simply dishonesty. I am now without washing machine for more than a month with 2 small kids. Thank you for messing my life

AVOID DOMESTIC AND GENERAL AT ALL COSTS

COMPLAINT
I PURCHASED THREE HOTPOINT ITEMS BACK IN JUNE 2020 and they were delivered the following month, however the fridge has decided to no longer be cold, I have had D&G engineers here 5 times from the start of July to no avail at the time I was ADVISED BY HOTPOINT to join D&G to get an Engineer! 1st came out 19/07/23 said we needed new compressor had to order, 2nd visit came back on 26/07/23 to fit compressor, three days later the fridge went down again. visit number 3 10/08/23 engineer said compressor fitted was no good ordered another, yet again it was another week and on 16/08/23 a different engineer and a trainee turned up with compressor on van but as he had this new equipment for flushing the pipes out he did that instead did not fit compressor. As soon as the fridge went a little cold they were off, fridge never came up to a fridge setting was on full and still not cold. visit 4 original engineer returned said he would order new compressor did not even look at fridge and was finding it hard to book another visit the earliest he could get was 11/09/23 spoke to domestic and general said they would not replace returned my original payment.
THIS IS CERTAINLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH THIS FRIDGE IS 3 YEARS OLD AND IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!

Having said i have paid for an independent engineer to come out from a different company who actually gave me the time of day to say that the gas is leaking somewhere inside the fridge and there is moisture in the pipes he seems to think the compressor is fine its just not pumping anything around the pipes.

Heating & boiler cover

Heating & boiler cover. What a joke.
8 different numbers I was given to call for an emergency plumber. 2 hours later finally get through to say they will send someone out tomorrow. Explained it was an emergency as I had water coming through my ceiling from a leaking radiator. No help whatsoever. The stress of it all just gave me a headache. Called again to cancel my policy, wasn’t a problem to do that. Absolutely terrible customer service

Dreadful experience

Dreadful experience. At the time of writing 92% of customers gave D&G a one star rating. I also read an article reporting that D&G are contacting vulnerable people to try and force them to take out an extended warranty!!! Absolutely shameless if true. If you have an extended warranty, cancel it immediately, it will be worthless.

Don’t waste time speaking to the first point of contact. Ask for a manager. Even that was pointless but at least you can get him to earn his money!
My cooker has been faulty since I bought it and still haven’t had a replacement!!!
